We family camped a couple nights near Cedaredge, and came into town before and after day trips. We stopped at the Coffee Barn one morning and I got espresso at the drive-up window. The espresso was great — rich and satsifying taste with crema. Come to think of it, I enjoyed that coffee more than most I’ve had in the US — it reminded me of how much I enjoyed coffee when traveling in Italy some years ago. I’d definitely stop there again before trying another place in Cedaredge. That said, we drove by the following morning at what seemed to be a similar time on a weekday, but they were closed. Be sure to check their hours first if you’re counting on them. A couple days later we stopped in Aspen, at a local coffee shop with good Unilocal ratings. Their espresso didn’t have the rich, chocolatey depth that we enjoyed in Cedaredge…

If you are heading from Delta to or through Cedaredge and are in need of quality caffeine, make sure you get it in Delta. I was struggling with too much blood in my caffeine system as I headed to Cedaredge for the day, having disregarded my better judgment to skip getting my java jolt at my regular joint. Lesson learned. Heading in the door from the parking(is it meant to be the front?), the interior looks much like a farm house, not-too-recently converted to a barn, serving coffee. I was greeted by a kindly, soft-spoken, middle-aged woman who instructed me to meet her at the counter on the other side of the kitchen/laundry room. I ordered my usual: half-chocolate mocha with almondmilk, but was informed that they offer no dairy alternative. Taking my punishment in turn, I went with 2%. One the positive side, the front half of the shop was nicely decorated, displayed relics of serene and simpler times when coffee shops didn’t serve as vital pauses in a hurried life. It’s good to know that they are there if I ever get myself into a pinch again.
