Blue Door Books

I can’t say enough good things about this gem of a bookstore!
I didn’t think that there were any independent bookstores on the south shore of Nassau County, but
led me to discover Blue Door Books in Cedarhurst. I’m so glad I did. I’m a children’s author with local roots, and was looking for a bookseller to help me get some books to sell at an off-​site kids’ event I was planning. When I contacted Blue Door, the owner was already familiar with my books and eager to help; she put in a bulk order, gave me a discounted retail price at which to sell them to the kids, helped me load the books out into my car, and was happy to accept returns on any books I didn’t sell. She really went above and beyond to make the experience easy for me.
What’s more, the store is adorable, immaculately designed, and has a very impressive childrens/​tween section, with a much better-​curated selection than I’ve seen at much bigger bookstores. If I lived locally, I’d be in there all the time.
Big thumbs up for this terrific neighborhood bookstore.

I was in the 5 Towns and searching everywhere for Bucky Balls for my son. I even posted on Facebook, asking friends to help me out.
Several people suggest Blue Door Books.
Sadly, they were closed on Sunday, but when Monday came around we went there when they opened. They had exactly what we needed.
As I was waiting to pay, I saw a few people come in to pick up books they had ordered and was very impressed with their customer service. In an era where service with a smile seems to be forgotten, the folks at Blue Door seem to have gotten it right!
This store is a nice edition to the area and I hope they stick around.

I love to read and read a wide selection of books… my favorite book stores are the local book stores a dying breed tying to compete with Amazon and Barnes and Nobel on line… I do not however like this book store, the selection is limited, they have only hard cover versions of many of the books that have been released in paperback and 99 percent of the time you have to order a book because they do not have it! If I have to order it then why would I go back to Blue Door Books to do it… I can get better prices and fast shipping online… they take forever to get the book when they do order it for you… I was so excited when I saw them come into the neighborhood now I am so disappointed… Book Revue in Huntington is a great model for a local book store… Blue Door books epic fail!
