Great quality of food, prompt service and reasonable price

First, let me start by saying this place is dependable and consistent. They provide great quality food every time! Today I had grilled salmon, with grilled veggies, and fries and it was delicious. I’ve also had their whole trout and Chilean sea bass in the past. I thoroughly enjoyed all of them, but the trout is my favorite. They have great service and they’re flexible based on how you prefer your food — which is important. I’ll definitely go back to this place again, and again. It’s also affordable, and you don’t have to break the bank for a good meal! I highly recommend fishplate to all fish lovers. Yum!

I don’t really understand the five star ratings this establishment has received; my experience certainly does not correlate with those reviewers. By far, the best thing about Fish Plate is the excellence of it’s web presentation (not it’s food or service). Based on the website and others’ reviews, we were really looking forward to a lovely dinner and didn’t get it.
First of all, there is no table service, they use paper plates and plastic cutlery on a cafeteria tray, which disappointed my wife and me, since we went there for a «nice dinner». But that may be somewhat unfair, as it is what it is, and could be overlooked if the food was extraordinary.
It isn’t! For starters, I ordered the «famous fish chowder» which may be famous, but certainly isn’t flavorful. Cutting up a fish filet or a piece of salmon and adding it to Tabatchnick’s frozen potato soup would result in a vast improvement. My wife had the caeser salad which was mediocre, with what seemed to be packaged croutons, not made on site. She had the fish and chips, the fish was overcooked, the coating not especially flavorful or crisp, the French fries were limp — seemed like frozen product was used, not freshly made. The tartar sauce also seemed to be a second-​rate packaged product, not freshly made on site. I had the grilled mahi mahi, which was seriously overdone, and the grilled vegetable side, which consisted mainly of burned onion that was raw inside.
Despite a menu listing offering them, coffee and tea were not available.
This is a restaurant we will not revisit.

I can’t see what all the hype is about. I almost question if the reviews are real or just friends and family. Today was our second time giving this place a chance.
The food was just okay and pretty pricey considering what you get. However the food may have been better if the girl who had taken our order over the phone, didn’t put such a bad taste in my mouth by being so rude.
We had been placing a large order and one item was crispy fish tacos (we didn’t know you had a choice of fish) this individual then says «you can tell me what fish you want already» After we ordered we realized many of the items came with complimentary sides (she never told us) so we called back to request them, she gave an attitude to the gentleman who was helping us.
When I went to pick up the food, the girl was rude again. She was annoyed that I pointed out that according to the sign (lunch specials) that I was entitled to a free drink. Perhaps she was just having a bad day, but she shouldn’t have brought it her job. A pleasant staff is what brings customers back and after our experience, we won’t be returning

I really love their food and the outside seating area! Love the Chowder, Greek salad and the Fish and Chips! Too bad they raised their prices :(Before that it used to be my number one take out or stay in family place

Atmosphere: (⁴⁄₅) small but cute fast food joint. Ample seating.
Food: generally delicious. Tried two different grilled fish platters (Mahi Mahi & Whole Trout) and loved them both. I would really give a ⁵⁄₅ for taste
Chesapeake Fish Chowder Soup (⁵⁄₅): yum!
Staff (⁵⁄₅): very friendly
Price: (⁵⁄₅): reasonable
Cons: I would have given this place a 5 star review if not for two things that happened (so took out 2 stars). It could just have been one of those days, so I do want to give the place the benefit of doubt.
#1: there was a hair in the cole slaw. The staff replaced it as soon as I showed it to them, but it did kill the experience. Maybe if they had offered to give another dish instead of more cole slaw from the same batch, it would have been better.
#2: two parties in my group got sick within an hour after we left the place.
Conclusion: if not for the unfortunate things that turned me off, I would have ran right back coz the fish platters and the soup that I got were just phenomenal (as far as taste)

Great fresh healthy food! I love that the main menu items fall under fresh and healthy!
Im a big fan of the grilled salmon with the cajun spices along with grilled veggies and brown rice. I do not normally attempt to eat grilled veggies or brown rice but both a spiced great and the grilled veggies are actually grilled to perfection on an open grill.
The spiced french fries are another favorite, along with the fish chowder which is only missing the side of saltines!

The best place in the area for a fish. The only place in the area that serves grilled fish as far as I know.
Not a lot of sitting space, but food makes up for it.
Even if you take out and eat it later when it’s not hot — always taste good.

Fish Plate is the best ever!
The food is just incredible! The fish is so fresh, juicy and tender. Very generous portions.
Every time I come here the food is just too good … The service is great and friendly!

My family and I tried lots of their menu items; Chesapeake Fish Chowder — excellent! Fish tacos, also excellent. We had Tilapia, Mahi Mahi, Salmon Fillet and Red Snapper — also all excellent. And the Fried Fish and Fish Poppers were also all excellent. I can’t say enough great things about this place. Besides the actually facility being very pleasant the service was as good as it gets and the prices very reasonable.
I highly recommend this place.
