I purchased a Groupon and your hair will come out straight. Yes it is chemicals and yes they aren’t ‘organic.’
If you want to spend zero time on your hair routine and wash and go and look like you spent time on your hair this is the treatment for you.
Your hair will be flat for the first 2 – 3 weeks and will get greasy quicker than normal but it will go away, so not to worry.
I highly recommend the Brazilian blowout to all my girls with frizzy/​kinky hair.

This place absolutely blew me away and now has a loyal customer for life. As a recent transplant to Long Island and a long time keratin user, I was hard pressed to find a trustworthy salon to do my keratin treatment. After much research (and reading many Unilocal reviews) I finally settled on Hair Bar NYC. I was long overdue for my straightening and figured anything was better than nothing.
Hair Bar NYC did a superb job! I had my treatment on June 5, 2015, and now a month later, my hair is still easy to style and looks great. I should mention that I have naturally very curly, fine, kinky hair, so keratin has been a life saver for me. I’m just so happy that I’ve found such a wonderful keratin bar right here on Long Island.

Found this place via Groupon; they were doing a special on Brazilian Keratin. Since I was WAY overdue for my straightening, and the price was very attractive — AND this place is quite close to where I live — I decided to give it a shot.
My stylist, Jessica, was very friendly and knowledgeable. She took the time before she even started working on my hair to discuss my options, and said the best thing would be to shampoo my hair first so she could see exactly what we were working with and which of their several formulations would work best on my hair. She also took the time to discuss the ‘fine print’ details of the special, i.e. that longer or very thick hair would be an additional cost beyond the basic Groupon price. I in fact had noticed these details in the Groupon before I even purchased, but I’m sure that plenty of people don’t take the time to read the whole thing. I really appreciated her going through all the details with me ahead of time. Since my hair is quite long (mid-​back), I knew ahead of time that I’d have to pay the long hair surcharge. She also walked me through their hair care products available for purchase (and yes, I bought everything) and explained how to protect my hair from the salt water that comes along with beach-​going in the summer.
The salon itself is the ‘sister’ of one a couple of doors down. This location, if I’m correct, does nothing but the various keratin treatments. I was happy to see that the stylists were able to avail themselves of actual gas masks (not those flimsy surgical things). For them, since they are exposed to the various chemicals, it’s more important than for me (who maybe goes to the salon 3 – 4 times a year) to minimize their exposure. The atmosphere of the place is nice and airy.
I walked out of the salon with my hair looking like a million bucks! I waited 4 days to write this review because the ‘acid test’ of any Keratin job is, how well does it look after that vital first shampooing. (For those who haven’t had the procedure, you have to wait usually 3 days after the application to shampoo your hair — or tie it back, or get it wet.) I was finally able to wash it today and even with letting it air dry, it STILL LOOKS FABULOUS. Still sleek, smooth, and shiny.
Other things — since this is located in an Orthodox area, it is closed on Saturday but open on Sunday (which works fine for me). Also, there is street parking (metered) and a municipal lot, which is free on Sundays.
I will DEFINITELY be putting myself in Jessica’s talented hands again!

One of the stylists recommended a new hairstyle to me and WOW. What a difference. Sexy can I? They give amazing haircuts (not to mention the hot stylists). Everyone in the salon are exceptionally nice, always in a great mood, and greet everyone with a smile. Highly Recommended and will definitely be back for more.

This hair salon is excellent! Natalie is very sweet and everyone is warm and welcoming. Keratin treatment is one of their best services. I highly recommend this salon to others :)

I had the keratin treatment done at this salon and while my hair is straight and more manageable I think it was a terrible trade off to make after the effects. The girl who worked on my hair was not properly trained because she made the chemical soak onto my scalp which gave me headaches everyday for one week. My scalp was so tight and felt like someone taking my skin off. Then about 1 week later my entire scalp started to peel, it’s now 2 weeks and still flaking off like dandruff — very embarrassing but I’m also scared. I read up on the product– it’s called inova and the site clearly states that it should not touch the scalp. When I called the salon the woman said my headaches aren’t real and «it’s all in your head.» I’m sure if call again about my peeling scalp that will also be all in my head. They don’t know what they are doing and I think this stuff is harmful for the clients and the workers– lots of OSHA rules are being violated here and labor laws in sure. It’s obvious I won’t return and I don’t think people should take the risk.

Hair Bar NYC shut down their salon and sent over a team of stylists and make up artists to handle my wedding yesterday. They did an absolutely remarkable job. The attention to detail and artistry of the team of stylists and make up artists is remarkable. I was awed by the beauty of the hair and make up that was done for both me and my bridesmaids. It was movie star gorgeous and very reasonably priced. The staff was kind, courteous, and professional. I almost cry tears of joy just at the memory. I highly recommend this salon to everyone!
