Steak ‘n Shake

Not a meal I want to do again. Found it to be all greasy, even the top of the roll. Shoestring french fries so small they hard to eat (no flatware given). Place itself was not the cleanest, (tables not cleaned properly) and the staff seemed like serving was and afterthought to socializing.

48 min from the time we walked into Steak n Shake and we just received our food. We we seated within the first 5 min.

This is by far the worst place ever! The service sucks. There are a million employees yet the service is awful. The only reason people come here is the food. I’ve been here plenty of times and no matter what time of day it is the service is by far the worst. The managers suck! The employees suck! Customer service sucks here!!! Asia is the worst employee ever. Whoever hired her should be fired along with her. She’s so RUDE!

This place sucks! Burgers are put together piss poorly, service is lousy, and place is dirty. Spend your money somewhere else!

Horrible wait times. Managers too busy on the grill! Need to get rid of everyone and start from scratch. What horrible management. Employees seem lost which makes sense with no leadership.

1:20pm Sat down and orders drinks and food.
1:25pm Drinks arrived.
1:51pm Food has not arrived. 2 burgers and fries.
1:53pm Food is here.
The place was not busy, maybe they were short handed, I don’t know. Other Steak N Shakes we have been too did not have waiter service, I’m not sure why this one had it. It is not needed.
Good luck to the folks that work here, hopefully they are just there to get started in life and not make a career out of it. Great job for actually working though, any job is better than none.

I would not recommend eating here if you want fast food. Although it is good, it took 10 minutes just to get our food ordered once we went up to the counter to say no one had taken it yet. Not to mention we wanted to sit at a booth but unfortunately could not because all the ones not taken were still covered in dirty plates and food along with several other tables and were not cleared off until well into my visit. While waiting for food I also received a water in an obviously and distinctly dirty cup. Would not eat here again.

This place should not have waiter service. It should be a counter service or fast food style restaurant. The service was poor. The burger was mediocre. It took forever to get a milkshake. I ordered Cajun fries and they gave me regular fries with a plastic cup of spice on the side. Lame. The only positive was from 2−5pm weekdays is half off shakes and the food is cheap. Will not return.

Have had breakfast there 2 times this month. I had the classic with sausage over easy eggs and white toast. That hashbrowns very perfect as were the eggs. Plenty of coffee refills and friendly servers. Hard to beat their price 1.00 for coffee and 5.49 for the classic. will return many times

I tried to us a coupon. I wanted an iced tea instead of coke. They said I could not do that unless I ordered it extra. I will never go back. I wanted to give them zero stars, but aprI can’t do that.

Worst service 2 times in a row now. Not even busy. No refills on drinks, waiting forever for the check, brought the wrong drink the first time and waiter left the table before our son ordered. Ridiculous had to give one star. Not worth it.

This place is hands down THE worst place I have EVER eaten. The SnS in Indianapolis was awesome, this place needs the building raised and start over as a gas station.
It took ten minutes to just get someone to get drink orders, then I had to send my regular coke back THREE times to get a diet.
The food order came out wrong, like missing a whole bowl of chili and to get that I had to go to the counter for it. The rest of the food was luke warm, the burger was good, so there’s that I guess.
Don’t waste your time, go a mile down the road to McDonald’s.
Terrible, horrible place.

Shake and burger is not good but totally good. California burger with fries, plus that awesome shake, everything makes it better.
But I noticed that the lettuce on my burger is not that good,
Nothing can beat that awesome classic burger from SnS.
Lovely, everything is lovely.

Am a food enthusiast. I love food-​taste hunting and travelling to one place to another to find some unique dishes. But obviously, the Taste of food isn’t only the reason in giving a restaurant its credit. But one should not take away the judgment of the quality services they offer.
The food which I ordered, (double steak and cheesy burger with fries) is your typical one. No uplifting factor there. I can say that the taste is like the taste of any other fast food houses. I am not saying that it’s not worth your tummy, well it’s good, but the factor of making it above level to others is not present. If you ask me did I enjoy it? Well I would answer I’m satisfied, am not overwhelm, I’m contented.
With the service? This time I would give credit. Because I found the staffs very welcoming and accommodating. They give you the service every customers deserve. So for me, when it comes to duty, they are professionals and of with standard.
4* is acceptable enough to recommend.

I grew up going to Steak and Shake since they are all over in Indiana so it’s always been near and dear to my heart. I guess things have changed at Steak and Shake though because the food is not what I remembered it to be. My coworker and I stopped here for a quick lunch and was happy to see that it looks the same as I remembered it. Now they have $ 4 meals, who doesn’t love that? I got a cheeseburger melt and fries and my coworker got a single with fries. We waited for a little bit and the food came out and of course it didn’t look like the picture and didn’t taste as good as I thought it would. The shoestring fries were near cold and the melt was pretty lackluster. My coworker wasn’t impressed and rightfully so and unfortunately I think this was her first and last visit every to a Steak and Shake. On a positive note, the service was great and friendly so they have that going on for them.

3 stars only because the manager handled the issue without question… waited about 8 minutes to be seated, and we were the only ones waiting, with plenty of seating available
Server took quite awhile to come get our order, he brought our drinks, then disappeared. Our food appeared about 20 minutes later, cold and the order was completely screwed up. The manager came over immediately and offered to prepare a whole new order himself and to comp our meal. I greatly appreciated how he handled it. They are currently hiring and I suggest, as a former server, that they replace about 80% of their FOH staff. As we were leaving, the server magically reappeared and was being talked to by his manager

I was heading to one of my favorite Chinese places for lunch and ran into this steak and shake. I was thinking do I want to spend 15 on some good Chinese or try a burger and I am so glad a tried Steak n Shake. I had a double cheese with fries and a tea and it was pretty good. I would compare it to smashburger for taste which is another good fast food burger. But the bill only 4.99 _​tax for a great burger and fries. This was simple a terrific deal for what I got and I will be back. Good Burger at a less than mcdonalds price … who knew? :)

I don’t know what all the complaints are for here. Service seemed fine for what it was.
The food was tasty and good, and super cheap. I grew up on Steak n Shake in the Midwest, and it’s not as good as I remember, but what really is these days?

Steak n Shake is one of those places I eat when I travel, but never made it to this one just a few miles from the house. So, after reading the reviews I think people expect too much from it! To me, SnS is a step up from McDonalds. It is cheap, you can either get drive thru or sit down and the food is basic. I don’t mean this bad, it is what it is and I think this one does it fine. I can’t say I blown away by the service, but our food was cheap, hot, came out fast and I love their shakes! I would go back.

Sat down inside to eat after a long time of just going through the drive thru. Everyone working there looked overly stressed and didn’t know who’s job was who’s. We waited to be seated for a solid 5 minutes with a few empty tables around. Once seated, our waiter who looked like he was fresh out of high school tended to us, he did not seem to care much about his job and looked like the type who disagrees with everything the managers have to say. When we got our food, I overheard the table next to us (it was not hard to hear them since they were raising their voices) that they were seated 10 minutes before our table and we got our food first.
This place needs help with management and setting up good flow. There seems to be a lot of confusion with what section belongs to who and how food is placed for pick up. The dine-​in staff needs help.
