Not sure what’s happened with this place in the last month, but there’s definitely been a shift in quality and customer service. My husband and I have been to Lock 27 numerous times before and received excellent service. The last three visits(12÷31÷15, 1÷23÷16, 1/28/16-carryout) have been so off-putting that I’m not sure we’ll return. During these three visits, the young lady behind the bar with the long black hair and body art couldn’t look more annoyed that people were actually sitting at the bar and ordering food and drinks. Trust me, we all have days where we don’t want to be at work, but we fake it if necessary until we get to the end of our shift, or at least until we stepped into the kitchen or the walk-in so that we can briefly vent. The service from this woman is less than stellar, as she does all that she can to avoid eye contact or even remotely listen to what you’re requesting. In regards to our most recent two visits, we were less than impressed with our food(which was surprising, because the food is usually awesome), and we were also offended by the way that our concerns were met by the staff. We typically order the poutine every time we go to Lock 27 because it’s poutine! The 7 – 10 times that we had ordered in before it would be presented to us with the standard gravy, cheese curds, and braised short rib. When we ordered the poutine on 1÷23÷16, it was presented to us topped with what only looked like beef roast cut into cubes. When we asked someone if they had run out of short rib, a woman said she wasn’t sure and she would go check. She returned with a bald gentleman that I believe works in the kitchen, and his immediate response was«What’s the problem?» My husband asked if they had run out of short rib for the poutine, because he knows it doesn’t usually come like this. The gentleman was clearly irritated and replied«Well that is the way it comes, it’s braised chuck!» Keep in mind, that usually the braised meat for the poutine is fork tender and resembles pulled pork or shredded beef. These cubes of meat could barely be cut with the knife and fork that I was attempting to use. When my husband tried to ask if the recipe had changed, the man just quickly cut him off and said«So do you want me to take it off the bill? What do you want me to do?». We asked him to remove it form the bill and ordered something else. Just last night, I(reluctantly) asked my husband to pick up and order of poutine on the way home. He sent me a text when he was there and said that he had seen some plates of poutine go out so it looked like everything was back to normal with the short rib. When he brought the food home-meat cubes AGAIN. If the recipe has changed from your original, then tell your customers that instead of being rude and insulting and telling them that’s the way it comes-especially when the customer has been there numerous times and knows that statement to be a complete lie. And if you do run out of braised short rib that you typically use, remove the item from the menu for the night instead of trying to substitute with something that honestly ruins the dish altogether.

My husband and I went for a Sunday lunch with high hopes. I asked the waitress if I could get the Cuban sandwich with honey mustard instead of spicy mustard and after a moment of hesitation her answer was, «Well, you can but it will take extra time since the sandwich is premade.» Wrong answer! You can’t make a $ 12 cold cut sandwich in a reasonable amount of time? Wendy’s does better than that. I declined the enthusiastic offer of a ‘specially’ made sandwich and went with another without any protestations on behalf of the waitress. Let me tell you, the premade sandwich was not exactly fast to appear so in hind sight I probably made the right choice, LOL Subpar service aside the second choice sandwich was very good and the fries were hot. Just not willing to pay high prices to be made to feel like they were doing us a favor.

We have been looking for a restaurant with amazing food and we have found it! Everything we ordered was made to perfection. Would recommend this place to all !

Just tried new gastropub… didn’t drink but their beers on tap were more bitter than I’d like. At least they had a board listing the beer info so you know what your getting. Very cute décor for pub and had a kind of funky vibe … in a good way. Seemed more eclectic than you’d expect from this area. … which is a nice surprise. Anyway came for the food and it did NOT disappoint … unfortunately I don’t do any ground meat . And picky on meat in general so that limits me a lot. My hubby got the burger and fries with basil pesto mayo .and bacon. He said it was very good… said its as good as it gets .I got the mac n cheese with bacon and blue cheese. .it was very rich but yummy. Tried the beer cheese soup. it came with popcorn on top??? Didn’t love that and popcorn wasn’t a topping I’d recommend for soup. The soup didn’t taste cheesy to me … so wouldn’t get that again. We didn’t need dessert but had it anyway.. a brownie with ice cream. .had the choice between vanilla, Carmel or cherry with chocolate shavings. I’d have picked the last 2 but went with vanilla so hubby would help me with it.

Best wings hands down — naked, dry rubbed and smoked doesn’t even need any sauce! Pretty good craft beers. The wait can be lengthy due to this size of the establishment. Try the poutine. Service was above average too.

This is our 3rd time going there. I’m a pretty eater at times so at first I was reluctant to try this place as I don’t drink craft beer but my boyfriend is an enthusiast. But this is now one of my go to places. I love it to the point I am now the one convincing my boyfriend to go there. Unfortunately it is a smaller place with limited seating. But it is worth the wait, the food has always been excellent. My boyfriend said their burger was the best he’s had in a while. I had the Asian pork sliders which were the bomb. I want them again but problem is I want to try the whole menu. The Thai was yummy but in the spicy side which was warned when ordering still happy with it. The Mac and cheese was kind of bland. Pretzels were excellent, as well as the stout brownie with salted Carmel ice cream is my favorite. My boyfriend said the beer is average although last night he found his favorite which was the coffee boy stout is his new go to. But what the beer lacks the food makes up. Mixed drinks are also very good! Definitely a must try when in the area.

Great beer and even better food. Nice service and helpful staff. Location isn’t great but the food and beer helps make up for it. I would recommend the mouth breather IPA and local angus burger — lots of changing beers and menu options.

The food was decent, I had the dry rub wings and a Cesar salad. The ambiance left a lot to be desired. Lock 27 tries to present itself as an upscale gastro pub, which is a tough act to pull off in a strip mall between an All-State office and a Bed Bath and Beyond. I would visit again, but only if I am unable to find anything better in the area.

First time eating here on 10÷09÷15. Very good food & great service! We tried the smoked wings & pierogies as appetizers.(Wings very good, pierogies were ok but I make homemade so hard to compare fresh to restaurant). We ordered Asian Pulled Pork Sliders, Brisket Sandwich & Caprese Sandwich all with Frites. The Frites dipping sauces were all very good with the Pesto Mayo being the best. Will definitely be back.

Their brew of beer was OK, but their selection of other very good beers was excellent. The food was great. We had wings, bacon-wrapped cheese, pierogies, and poutine, and it was all delicious. The service was very attentive and friendly.

During a recent trip to Centerville, we stopped into Lock 27 for dinner on a Sunday evening. There were five adults and two small children. The interior is a bit small, but there’s also a nicely sized patio area that sits around 20 or so people. The décor is industrial chic, inviting and warm. We were served by Ryan who did his best to deal with our large party. I was in the mood for a cocktail, but learned that they do not have a permit to sell liquor on Sundays. Instead, I chose a glass of their pinot grigio($ 7.50). I would have ordered a second, but my empty glass was taken away mid-meal and I was never asked if I wanted to order another. My father, brother in-law, and mother each enjoyed a glass of beer — they make some of it on site, so that’s pretty awesome. We noticed a lot of people ordering their smoked wings, so we also placed an order. We were very pleased with them. They were meaty, juicy, and packed with a lot of flavor. You can order them with a dry rub or spicy sauce. We opted for the dry rub with the spicy sauce on the side. You won’t be disappointed here. For dinner, two of us ordered the chicken panini. Instead of going with their fries(which I learned were a bit dry from others that had them), I paid an extra $ 2 for their orchard salad. I was quite surprised to see that they gave me an entrée side when it eventually made its way to the table. Hey, I wasn’t complaining. Given this isn’t a Thai restaurant, I was a bit surprised that my sister ordered their Thai curry. However, she was really happy with her meal. Our waiter had mentioned a previous guest that has traveled all over the world telling him that their curry was the best he’d ever had. With a statement like that, I guess you have to order it, right? To round things out, my brother-in-law ordered the Big Italy burger. I really didn’t pay too much attention to his meal, but he seemed to really enjoy it. Drinks and dinner(adults only) combined, the total came to $ 111 with tax. We stopped by here for the first time ever at 5 on a Sunday. I had read good reviews of Lock 27, and it certainly lived up to them. The interior is small but inviting with good lighting and lots of wood. Specials, like«French toast bread pudding»(mmmmm…), are listed on a large chalkboard next to the bar. The bar has around 10 taps; 3 are their own, and the rest are for guest beers. When we visited they were having a Clown Shoes tap takeover, which was fine since Clown Shoes has some excellent beers. They also have a decent looking bottle selection; it’s not huge, but they try to keep it interesting. Flight size beers can be purchased individually, so you can construct a flight of 1 – 10 beers. We split a 10 beer flight so we could have a bit of everything on draft. That included 4 of Lock 27’s own brews(they swapped a new one in right after we got our flight, so we actually ended up with 11): a pale ale, a smoked wheat, an oatmeal stout, and a Berliner weisse. All 4 were very good. The smoked wheat particularly stood out — it was like a cross between a light wheat ale and a rauchbier, and went very well with our food. The menu has quite a few appetizers, and we didn’t really look outside those. The bartender recommended the wings, which are dry rubbed and lightly blackened. While they looked good(really good), we weren’t in the mood for wings. Once we saw«poutine» we were sold; this isn’t something that regularly shows up around here, and it’d been quite a while since we’d had any. It was fries and slow cooked beef in a savory brown gravy with cheese curds scattered throughout, all topped by a fried egg. It was divine. We tried to follow up with the pierogi, but they were out. Instead, we got the cheese tray, which turned out to be a big win. A thinly sliced crusty bread loaf, some sort of rye cracker, blueberries, cranberry chutney, balsamic vinegar, honey were accompanied by three cheeses: a smokey cheddar, a relatively mild but tasty blue, and a smooth Brie. Bread + Brie + honey + blueberries was wonderful. We finished up with a current special, the French toast bread pudding. It came topped with a small scoop of caramel, strawberry, or vanilla ice cream; we chose caramel. We still had a but of Clown Shoes Billionaire(a rich barleywine) left, and it paired perfectly. Needless to say, we’ll definitely be visiting again.

Great place, amazing staff, the best smoked hot wings have ever had. Very good golden IPA, with nice IBU, and a higher carbonation level to bring the beer together. They only had three beers on tap, but they had other breweies beers tapped too, so you can taste the local fair. Two ladies(patrons) here told me that this is the best beer and food place around this area(and they dont even like breweries). Midwestern hospitality at its best. A–

Was recently there with some friends. We live in area of the country that are considered foodie cities. This place is very good. If you are looking for unique beer, this is the place for you. The brewmaster tries a lot of different ingredients to create some good stuff. The food there is not like your typical bar or brewery. It is higher end with great flavors, but not high end prices. The wings are great! You need to try the wings! This should be one of your top spots if you live in or around Centerville.

Very good! Met some friends here last night and had a very good time. Beer was good and the service was great! Ryan took very good care of us. We had appetizers, dinner and dessert. For apps we enjoyed the salmon quesadilla and the perogies, and perogies were great! I ordered the brisket sandwich– fantastic– while the rest of our party ordered fish tacos, meatloaf sliders and macaroni and cheese. Dessert was good too. We ordered and shared the brownie and French toast bread pudding with salted caramel ice cream. Fun night had by all and we look forward to returning. ** I was glad to see Ale Smith and Green Flash beers available from San Diego!!!

The pirogies are crazy good! They are a must try! we also had a chicken/mustard panini that was really good! My only peeve is that they label themselves as a «microbrewery» but their brew window/room seemed more for show. However, being a frequenter of microbrewery, warehouse type bars, I knew that this was not it. They didn’t even make most of the beers offered(can/bottle). Phenomenal food, imprecise labeling. Still I’m not mad! I can’t wait to eat there again :)

Naturally, one of the best breweries in the Dayton area is in Centerville. I haven’t had a bad experience in this town, so I expected nothing less from their brewery. Lock 27 is up and coming, but it’s not too obvious. Their food selections pair quite well with their beer selections. My mom and I ordered their salmon quesadilla and I got a flight sampler of the beers I thought sounded the most appealing. Most were average, but their pumpkin ale blew my mind. I wanted to consume large quantities, but, unfortunately, they ran out during our visit. Our server was quick to offer a couple similar brews, but neither matched the perfection that was their pumpkin ale. I suppose I’ll have to come back closer to Halloween to get my fill.

With a good selection of draft beer and great food options, Lock 27 has quickly become a regular weekend spot for my friends and I. The food is very fresh and appetizers are bi enough to share. They have a variety of entrée items including fish tacos, pastas, crab cakes, burgers, and steak just to name a few — all that I’ve tried have been flavorful with a nice presentation. Let’s not overlook the beer. They brew several of their own varieties as well as serve other craft selections. Selections seems to change by season to allow guests the opportunity to try something new. Reservations are highly recommended! Overall great atmosphere and great spot to gather with friends.

I’m torn with how many stars to give this establishment… the house beer is just alright nothing that stands out… its a «brewery» so the focus should be on beer but they also focus on delicious food things that all sounded savory and one of a kind. 3 of 5 stars for the Beer: They have about 5 or 6 of their own beers on tap and then another 5 to 6 «guest» beers which just means whatever strikes their fancy… not necessarily other local beers. Interestingly enough, they offer something I haven’t seen before, they infuse their beers with citra hops, ghost pepper, or coffee by using a handheld coffee press. 4 of 5 stars for the Food: Awesome dishes, rich flavors, tasty, belly-warming, filling, not one complaint can be had.
