This beautiful state park is just north of the town of Medford and runs along the southern bank of the Rogue River. Though the river is known for its rapids up near Grants Pass, this section is mostly placid with one section of faster water that the little fishing motor boat we saw had no problem with. The dirt, mostly single track trail runs fairly close to the river, with access points for fisherman or fun like throwing rocks into the water. There were plenty of birds to view. We saw one mountain bike and and some sections of the trail had clearly been travelled by horses. There was one groomed loop that was an interpretive trail, with numbered stations but no info. It just may be too early in the season to get maps at entry since the booth was unmanned when we entered the large parking lot. A good time was had by all, including the dogs, though they came home with DOZENS of ticks so be careful out there.
