I am a big sushi fan and I have high expectations for it, but the rolls honestly not to bash were way off. Texture was very odd as well as the taste wasn’t appealing. Aside from the rolls the service is very quick to get your order out, but a lot of work needs to be done on the rolls to really spice it up. And EXTREMELYOVERPRICED !

The food is great! The staff is friendly(most of the time) but could be better. I gave 4 stars because the restroom is outside and dirty.

There wasn’t much to eat, the waitress wasn’t that nice. Overall not that great of an experience.

I have to update my review as a recently ordered from here again a few times. The evil dragon lady working there seems to have gotten an attitude adjustment. She was much more pleasant than she used to be and I even caught a bit of a smile from her. The next time I went there was a different woman working and she was very pleasant. So I guess I’ll be eating here more now that the service is better. This makes me happy as their food is great.

Food is good. Portions are decent. Restaurant is modest and the service is very nice. They have a cool little sushi bar. I’d come back.

I’m in no way a sushi expert but I thought it was good. Tasted good and made to order. People didn’t seem rude at all to us. I liked it!

The portion sizes are pretty small for the price you pay(not saying the portions need to be bigger, but maybe a smaller cost). The owner has always been very nice to us and provided good service. Used to come here every week to enjoy a simple teriyaki. Moved out of the area and we come most every time we come down here. Today I order the chicken breast teriyaki and tried to get chicken breast for the teriyaki bowl. I explained I gave no problem paying a few bucks more. She refused to do chicken breast with the chicken bowl. I didn’t understand at all. If I’m offering to pay more, why not accommodate a customer that has been coming here for 10+ years to do a better chicken option? Stars went down in my book today.

The food is made fresh to order. Food is great & the price extremely reasonable. Come here for the meal, not the service(we often times self serve our menus or silverware). We charge our car near here so it makes the stop a nice break. The chicken teriyaki is a better choice than the sushi here.

There are alot of poor reviews for this place, I will tell you this place is a Diamond in the Rough! I have a sophisticated taste for sushi and it is fulfilled each time I eat here! It is expensive and that is probably why there are bad reviews… One statement to the price«YOUGETWHATYOUPAYFOR» lets face it, you can’t expect a low bill for high quality food or vice versa. GG’s is worth every penny!

Terrible pricey food served by the rudest Korean people I’ve ever been served at a Japanese/Korean restaurant. Do not waste your money and appetite, go somewhere else.

I love sushi… And I would also love to have a decent place in Lewis County to get sushi but this is not somewhere I would ever go again… I went here all the time a few years ago. and as of about 8 months ago I will never go again. The tables were sticky, the server was cold and not friendly at all… And the husband and I were sitting down trying to enjoy our food when a family GRABBED their kids and ran for the door when they saw a huge spider at their table.(No thank you, not a fan of spiders) Not only that, but the portions are small for the prices, and the health scores have not been good.

We stopped here on our trip from OR to WA for a dinner and we were very pleased by the quality of the food. Kids loved their kid’s meals and sushi were very fresh. I would prefer a detailed bill which will save me some time.

This place has a lot of potential, but it is very dirty. Dirty tables, sticky silverware and just simply dirty. It’s too bad because the chicken katsu & teriyaki is delicious

Coming down I-5 from Seattle you tend to get stuck in a little traffic, so might as well pull over an grab a bite. From the out side it may not look to appetizing but don’t let that discourage you. I ordered a caterpillar and a California roll. The eel was done just right and the California was your typical California roll. Nothing really stood out for me. Just your average everyday sushi. Good news is I’m full and the traffic had lightened up.

Keep driving north to Olympia or south to Portland. This place was so disappointing. I was very excited when someone told me about there being a place for sushi in Lewis County, as I work tin Chehalis and often crave healthy food. A friend and I stopped in for lunch and it was empty at lunch time except one table. That should have been my first clue. The lady at the counter was very abrupt and unfriendly as she told us to sit down and handed us menus. We walked through the sparse, cold, and empty restaurant to a table and sat ourselves. She came by and took our orders a short time later. I ordered the baked salmon roll which was probably the smallest roll I have ever seen. It was 12.00 too, not cheap. I don’t think there was more than 2 ounces of salmon on the whole thing. It was mostly imitation crab and a few pieces of rice stuck to the side. No sign of the other ingredients it was supposed to have. The sushi was bland, and tasted like it came from Fred Meyers. Actually Fred Meyers makes better sushi and for a lot cheaper! It didnt come with the standard miso soup that all sushi restaurants I have been to give you with the meal. OR hot tea. I ate the roll in 7 small bites and was then longingly gazing at my friends teriyaki chicken. He gave me some and it was also«just ok». They also dont provide stir fried vegetables, instead a few pieces of lettuce and a few shredded carrots to make a «salad». Our food did not come out at the same time either, which always annoys me. Once our food was dropped off, we never saw the server again for refills on drinks or to ask how everything was. DESPITE the other table that was there had left and we were the only ones in the restaurant. I so wanted to like this place and have it be my new«go to» for lunch. But alas I will never return. 12.00 for 7 pieces of a subpar roll was ridiculous. I left hungry. There is no ambience. HUGE obnoxious posters cover the windows advertising their«specials». There was no music and it was strangely quiet in the place. Too bad. I guess I will have to wait to get back to Olympia after work to get my sushi fix. By the way AYA Sushi in West Olympia is amazing! Try their baked salmon roll. It is a huge roll — delicious, fresh, and only 10.95. Comes with miso soup and tea too, in a beautiful setting.

I’ve been here once as there is no alternative for sushi close by. The building sits near the outlet stores and looks to have a pretty ancient paint job on it. The inside is divey for a sushi place and is more like a fast food teriaki joint with a sushi bar tacked on. Probably the most annoying part of the setup is like others have mentioned, the bathroom sits outside. I was the only one at the bar when I ate there and the chef was a pretty friendly guy but not too chatty because he speaks almost no English. I had a beer and a few rolls. You fill out a menu beforehand and the chef serves you after. I will say that the fish was pretty great, probably some of the best sushi I have had. The portions were a good size and not a lot of rice involved. This is how every by the piece sushi joint should do it. After learning I have worked in the food industry for many years, he also had me try a piece of salmon he cooked with a blowtorch right in front of me, which was pretty cool and tasted like bbq. Yum. I was on the border between 3 and 4 stars here but architecture and ambiance aside, the service was pretty good and food was outstanding(even if pricey), so I gave it 4.

This is a local restaurant that I’m familiar with. Be prepared to be greeted very standoffish for one. The bad service continues when ordering. There’s no flexibility for the menu at all. I’m used to going to teriyaki joints and they all have a ‘no problem’ attitude. This one however, has a problem. The owners wife will not change anything or move anything on the menu at all. So if you do customized what you order at all. Be prepared to pay a pretty penny. I payed 21.72 for a box of soggy fried rice, spicy beef that had too much teriyaki sauce on it, and half a portion of a California roll. The place is dirty too with cheap decorations that are all for sale. How tacky is that.

Delicious, fresh, great sushi. Been there twice, nice friendly service both times. Pretty quick service too. Ordered some special rolls, Rainbow Roll, Dragon Roll, Tiger Roll, spicy tuna roll, chicken teriyaki bowl… All really good. Great portions. Decent prices. all special rolls were a little over 9 dollars. Clean, simple and quiet atmosphere. Bathroom is located outside but isn’t so bad. You gotta pay at the front register, not the table. Definitely will keep going back.

Yummy food! The shrimp tempura roll is hugeee! Their spicy mayo is spicy! The rest of the Fam loved their beef teriyaki and the beef udon. I was happy with the food, it’s a little hole in the wall type of place so the service is a bit awkward. They didn’t have cups with lids so the kids spilled the waters they were given. And no kiddo chopsticks either so just not a kid place! Also our appetizer came last and the meals came out one person at a time vs all at once. Would probably give it 4 stars if it was just me and the hubby sitting at the sushi bar.

The food was fair and my bento box was a reasonable deal. However, there’s little to no atmosphere, the bathroom is outside and unheated, and service was mediocre. After quickly delivering our food — entrees followed by the appetizer(?) — our server was hard to wave down and didn’t clear dishes though we’d clearly stopped eating. If a friend really wanted to come, I’d be willing to, but it’s not on my own repeat business list.
