I have been to this location a few times, the food and the staff are incredible. I found out the secret to the question tasting so good is because beer is in the recipe! Anjelica the manager is absolutely amazing, very friendly, very professional, and genuinely wants to make sure every aspect of your visit is perfect. My last visit here was this past Saturday, thats when I heard the bad news that this location is closing. Fortunately they will still have the location in Fairfax city, yes it is a little further drive, but totally worth it. I just hope the different location still has the same quality of food and service as the Centreville location had. I will truly miss this place.

Where has this queso been all my life?! This location in Centreville is closing soon but there is one in Fairfax City thankfully. This was only my second time here and I’m sad to see this location go! The restaurant was packed but service was good and attentive. I had the fajita bowl which was lettuce, rice, refried beans, steak, and the usually guac/sour cream, etc. It came in a large crispy tortilla bowl– I barely made a dent in it because it was so large, I would prefer more meat to the other fixins but it was all yummy. I’ll have to make a trip to the other location in the near future.

Came for Brunch on a Sunday around 12:30 or so with a friend. The restaurant was pretty much empty other then a few other patrons probably 2 – 3 tables. Originally we were looking at the brunch menu but nothing really spoke to us. It was then that we remembered that they had small plates. Other Unilocalers had mentioned that were pretty good. So we decided to try their tapas /small plates. Out of curiosity we asked our server how large the portions were .We were told that the dishes were a little larger then a small bread plate. My friend and I decided on 2 dishes each. She ordered the Carne con Creama de Mainz and the Camote y Vegetales Empanadas. I decided on the Southwest Egg Rolls and the Papas con Chorizo con Piquillo Sauce. After putting in our order we overhead the table in front of us ask their server for chips. It was then we remembered that Unilocal gives us a nice coupon for FREEQUESO. sweet deal. Our server brought out our chips and queso… but didn’t bring salsa… we didn’t bother to ask because we felt like it was probably a trade we got the queso instead of salsa. But I guess it shows how stingy some places are in regards to chips and… salsa. Food review: Carne con Creama de Mainz Review: Steak was a little more well done then I prefer my steak. However it was nicely seasoned and was still pretty tender. You could definitely taste the sweetness from the chipotle bourbon sauce it had a nice smokiness but was a little on the sweet side. The creamed corn was interesting. The corn itself was very sweet but it wasn’t the consistency that creamed corn usually has like it was more like corn in a cream like sauce. But it as a whole a very solid dish. Southwest Egg Rolls Review:It was a very beautiful plate however as a server was bringing out the dish the egg roll actually fell over on delivery… that was a bit of a let down. The server offered to fix it but whats the point in picking up an egg roll that is already now in the sauce. For me if your going to present me with a dish and it flops over chances are something isn’t right. Sure enough the egg roll was soggy. It seemed like it was slightly flash fried but the inside of the wrapper was mushy perhaps it was the filling but i was a bit let down considering from the start of the dish it kind of flopped. But flavor was there it was meaty and you actually saw and could taste the chunks of chicken. The 2 sauces served with it were pretty good added a freshness to the dish. Camote y Vegetales Empanadas Review: Probably my least favorite dish. It was like a sweet turnover. It lacked enough filling and there really was no substance to it it was just mush no textural contrast. It was like a sorry excuse for an empanada. The dough was not even flaky like most empanadas are. Papas con Chorizo con Piquillo Sauce Review: Probably one of the most interesting dishes. I thought when it said sliced potatoes I’m thinking potato wedges or thick slices wrapped with chorizo and fried. But what came out was more like a complex chip. It was thinly sliced potato and thinly sliced chorizo rolled and fried to a golden brown. It wasn’t bad it was just an improper description. However I did like that it was so crispy. It’s certainly is a very good small plate to have when drinking salty crunchy crispy fatty goodness. After finishing our small dishes my friend was highly convinced that she had to get the Mexican Fried Ice Cream. So we ordered one to share. The exterior was still crispy even with the caramel sauce. The corn flakes gave it a good mouthfeel texture. Crispy and sweet and it went well with the cool vanilla ice cream center. The whipped cream was very fresh tasting and mellowed out majority of the sweetness. Overall… I think that Coyote Grille is a decent place for a few small plates. It is a bit more upscale then the Fairfax location which I’ve visited to before. I think if i had to compare the 2 locations… fairfax is a bit more low key and more casual then upscale but the service was a bit better at the fairfax location then it was here in centreville prehaps it was because it got busy later. Either way I feel like the Fairfax location showed more attentiveness. My overall review for coyote grill is that the small plates are okay and it may very well be that we chose a few duds on the menu. But either way I can’t judge to harshly because it was a decent meal. The fried ice cream and queso did make up for the other dishes that lacked the flavor and texture.

Food has always been delicious but service is hit or miss. We took our friends for brunch here last week and had such a great experience that we decided to go back for new years day brunch. Server took our order and then went away. We tried to get his attention for some chips and salsa but he was busy eating at the bar. He then came back with our entrees. Turned out he had forgotten about our app so that came out about 10 minutes later with the chips and salsa. No apology or table touch or anything. I used to be a server so maybe I’m too picky when it comes to this stuff but the whole experience just felt. weird. At the end of the day we will be back because the food is excellent, but will probably sit at the bar.

I’ve been here several times and I like trying new things. This time I went I ordered the tapas and nachos. The nachos were huge and very filling. Although the tapas is a small dish, it is amazing. I really love this tender meat that goes with the corn and the sauce on top. Service is always great here for me. Never had a problem and the bartender is always awesome.(I think his name is Alex?) I would recommend this place to people if you’re craving Mexican food. I’d much rather go here than Tippy’s Taco a few doors down.

The margaritas were what brought us here and fortunately they did not disappoint! I got the Pink Cadillac and my friend ordered the Blue Moon. It’s nice how you can customize them from salt or sugar on the rim, frozen or on the rocks and you can even pick the tequila if you want! You can taste the alcohol which is nice, but it’s not overwhelming — it was a complimenting flavor to the drinks. I also ordered the guac, which was pretty good but went unfinished thanks to the massive chunks of red onion in it. Don’t get me wrong, I love onions! But after a few bites with huge chunks of red onion that left my throat burning, I started to pick them out. If you don’t like onions, I wouldn’t recommend the guac. I also used the check in on Unilocal to get the free queso for my friend. I didn’t try it, but they seemed to like it. There was some sort of mix up about me ordering it at first but after speaking to our server again it was sorted out. I ordered the chicken quesadillas as well. I didn’t expect much, and maybe it was because the margarita made everything just fast better — but man it was probably one of the best quesadillas I’ve ever had. It never got soggy, the chicken had a great flavor, I loved that there was pico de gallo in it and the cheese was so good! Highly recommend it. Our server was friendly and made conversation with us, she seemed fairly attentive but also maybe like she wanted us to leave at some points. I’m not sure why that would be the case because as we were there it continued to clear out and there were plenty of tables available. It might have just been that she didn’t want to leave us alone for too long. Overall, I was really pleased with our choice. I would definitely come again for the appetizers and drinks!

Good service, friendly staff and they try to make daily specials, which is nice to see. They also have a tequila sampler which is definitely worth it, if you have any interest in margaritas or anything tequila related. Tex Mex food with good nachos and fresh fish dishes. And a big bonus is that you can eat outside(weather permitting). As for ToshaB and her«service sucks» review, she has a point, but sometimes you gotta speak up and let someone know you want service before you explode and start Unilocaling and throwing around single stars…:-).

My husband and I came here for dinner last night. My husband stopped at the ATM next door, so I went in first and got our table. He arrived about a minute or 2 after I was seated and asked if our drink orders had been taken. I said not yet, but let me check in with Unilocal.Once I checked in, I realized there was a check in offer for a free queso, so I clicked to use it now which starts a 3 hour countdown. We sat and looked at the menu and waited for someone to come to our table. My husband said if someone is not here in 10 min then we’re leaving and I agreed. After about 6 minutes or so we saw another table get seated, but no server immediately came to their table either. Right at 10 minutes, we saw a server go to that table that was seated after us and nobody was coming our direction, so we got up and walked out. After we got outside, I told my husband that it’s a shame that we sat there that long without being addressed and walked out without anyone noticing(there wasn’t even anyone at the hostess stand). I said I wanted to go back and at least inform the manager of how poorly his staff was performing. So we went back inside and flagged down and waiter and asked for the manager. He came back about a minute later and said he was still looking for the manager, but he’s wearing a blue shirt. So we stood for another minute or 2 and noticed a guy with a blue shirt on the patio setting up umbrellas. We went outside and asked if he was the manager and he said yes, so we told him about our experience and how we sat there for 10 minutes without anyone coming by. He said«Well today is my last day and I was giving a speech and that probably lasted 10 minutes.» I said that it was still unacceptable that we weren’t even greeted and that we left and nobody even noticed. He basically just kept making excuses and we told him we were leaving but thought he should know. He asked if we wanted to stay and he would be our server and we declined because it was obvious that he didn’t care and was already out of the door. I understand everyone has a bad day, but the last 3 or 4 times we’ve come to Coyote Grill, we have had awful service. I just don’t understand why they can’t get it together and it’s even more frustrating when the manager doesn’t care either. We like the food, so we’re willing to give them 1 more chance when the new management is in place for a lithe while. But I’m just baffled that they are still open with the atrocious service we get every time we go there. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results, so I guess we are the insane ones since we keep going back and expecting the service to actually be good.

I love this place, everything, and Mexican food is not even my favorite food. I really don’t get the bad reviews here on Unilocal, everyone is entitled to their own opinion but hey, easy on the review, these guys are really hard workers and love what they do. The food is good, I personally think they have the best chips and salsa. I usually get the steak fajita because i don’t eat seafood but when I have guests I always tell them to order the shrimp fajita and they love it! The atmosphere is pretty awesome and the owner or the manager are always there to make sure everything is going smoothly, again I gotta say i really don’t get those bad reviews, those people must have been in a bad mood or something…

I have tried to enjoy coyote grill three times now, each hoping my experience will be better. I enjoy coming here because its one of few places with an outdoor patio. But every time I come the service is slow and the food doesn’t leave me wanting more. The margaritas are not bad, but you spend a long time waiting on them to get to you.

I came in for a Unilocal event on Monday night, this review is not based on a traditional dining experience but I do plan on coming back soon. The room itself is decorated nicely and it is pretty spacious. It’s not very large but the seating is such that you are not sitting on top of the table next to you. The staff was very attentive and made sure we had everything we needed, including waters and refills on our drinks of choice. I recommend the margaritas! We tasted things on the catering menu and the wings, empanadas, nachos, chicken diablo and chimichangas were all fresh and tasty. I am use to chimichangas being fried at Coyote Grille, they are grilled. They are good, but I think this is more like a grilled stuffed burrito? Anyone else?

I came here for Unilocal event on a monday night so of course it wasn’t like crowded like a weekend would. It was easy to get here from Annandale area since all I did was taking 236 and turn left to lee highway. I wouldn’t want to take 66 around 6pm to go to centreville because it was rush hours time. I got there in 25 minutes so it wasn’t too bad for driving 19 miles. The parking lot is huge so finding parking shouldn’t be a problem if you want to try this place. It is at the end of a huge shopping center so you might miss it if you don’t look out to the end of the shopping center. We were greeted nicely even though we didn’t dine in directly. The servers were nice to keep coming back and ask if they can help us with anything. They constantly check on us to make sure we have everything. When they bring out samples food for our Unilocal event, the servers always explain what was the sample and the ingredients for it. I was definitely please with their services and attitudes. I couldn’t get this kind of services anywhere else(well rarely right?). I would definitely come back to try their real entrée menu since all I had yesterday was sample from everything on their menu. Oh they have a private room for private party also.

My new favorite tex-mex restaurant! Everything was so flavorful. I ordered the Coyote Combo and I couldn’t get enough of it, the steak was cooked perfectly. The prices are reasonable, the staff were friendly, and the ambience was cozy. I’m definitely coming back.

This place came upon my radar thanks to Amanda B. and her love for it. It just so happended that my friends and I were in the Centreville area last night, looking for a spot to stop in and imbibe for a while longer. Thanks to trusty Unilocal and my bookmark for it, we decided to give it a try. Coyote Grill is very open, on the more modern side, with a warm feel. It was about 9:30pm and although the dining room only had a few tables in use, the bar seemed the place to be! We scored 3 seats there, immediately being greeted and given menus — both for food and drink. I was very impressed with cocktail options and prices. I chose the Blush Sangria which was on special that night– a very light version of sangria with fruity undertones. Upon inspection of the food menu, we also realized that we were hungry. I chose to utilize the Unilocal check-in offer of free Queso for us all. It came out very quickly. The chili con queso was warm, cheesy and had a little kick from the jalapenos. My entrée, the steak chimichanga, came out not long after. It more reminded me of a burrito since it wasn’t fried, but my gut will thank CG for the«healthier» version. I liked the dish, but wasn’t blown away. The veggies(onions and peppers) were lacking, but it was definitely stuffed with a lot of steak. The steak had obviously been prepared with some sort of Tex Mex marinade, which made it flavorful. Unfortunately, the flavor was one that I wasn’t excited about. It had an «off» taste to me. However, one of my friends really enjoyed her steak nachos that were made in the same fashion, so we’ll just blame it on my taste buds. I look forward to coming back here and trying one of their many other options of delicious looking foods. I also enjoyed the bar area very much, so they will definitely see me there again soon!

What a fantastic, hidden(IMO) gem! Amanda B has been prompting me to check this place out for ages, and now I see why. Tucked away in a strip mall in Centreville(kind of ’round back from Bön Chon Centreville and across the street from Creative Nails & Spa) is Coyote Grille — their second location, since they also have one in Fairfax. The place is clean, with bar area and main dining area separated, the staff is super friendly(like 3 different waitresses complemented me on my hair!), and the small plates menu is bangin’! I tried the carne with creamed corn dish and it was muy delicioso — perfectly cooked strips of steak, a savory creamed corn with some kind of amazing sauce drizzled on top… homina homina! I can’t wait to go back and try more of their serious menu items. Would love to check out their FFX location now that I know where it is, too — we passed right by it when we went to Sushi Prince last night, hehe.

My brother took my wife and I to celebrate our birthdays here on Cinco De Mayo. They did a really fun celebration in their«backyard» with balloons for kids and tequila tasting for adults. I had the Magmarita, a spicy Margarita. This is a brilliant idea and I can’t believe I didn’t think of it first. It was super good. I also had the grilled fish tacos! Yes! Grilled fish tacos! Not deep fried like everyone else does! They were very tasty. They service was nice and accommodated everything very well. Be careful, if you tell them its your birthday they will sing. But dessert is on the house. Definitely a new favorite mexican restaurant.

Finally somewhat of a bar scene that isnt velocity 5!!! It’s tex-mex with a twist that includes delightful tapas and a smooth selection of original margaritas. We did quite the sampling for our first visit. Four different margaritas, queso, guacamole, salsa trio, southwest roll and the steak de maiz. OMG! I could have licked the plate clean for each plate/bowl placed before us! OVERALL Great atmosphere, I can bet it probably gets a bit loud around Happy Hour but the food is yummy and the drinks satisfying… a weekday hangout after work, I think so. I can walk here! Make sure you get the southwest roll, handmade in house, crisp and flaky outside with an ooey gooey inside that drips with flavor. *drool* I can’t wait to go again!
