Update: They are listed here as an animal factory that confines their animals. . They are not organic, as stated by one of their employees in response to another review here on Unilocal, and I will not be buying from them again. Such a let down! I have been a customer of Haney’s for long over a year, and I really love buying my eggs at the farmer’s market. I love being able to return the egg cartons, and their eggs are alright. The large brown eggs are $ 4.50 a dozen, so they aren’t super cheap, and I want to know that I’m actually getting good eggs from well treated hens. Also, they are not organic! Just so everyone knows. I’m really bummed about that… My reason for less stars is the same as everyone else, I really really want to know more about their business; what do they feed the chickens? How are the chickens treated, what are their living conditions like? I found this one article/review: and I was blown away by how many chickens they have! I also didn’t realize how many places they sell all over Sacramento, so it does make sense. I did a little math with the figures listed in the article. A source I found says each full sized hen should have at least 4 square feet to herself. Haney’s apparently has 6 acres, and there’s 43,560 sq ft in an acre, so Haney’s has 261,360 sq ft. Divide that by four and you end up with the assumed number of hens Haney’s can accommodate with that amount of land– 65,340 hens; a huge number that Haney’s stated 29,000 hens is no where near. Keep in mind, that one article was written by a 15 year old high school student back in 2011, so who knows how accurate or factual that report actually is. So, if they actually are pasture raised, those hens should be well cared for, but without proof, who can say they aren’t actually an egg factory? It makes me really leery that Haney’s seems so reluctant to divulge any info or photos, and I honestly don’t think I will be buying from them again until I get that info.

purchased more eggs today and mentioned to the gentleman that I wish there were more info about the ranch. his answer was kinda lame. he said if we spend time on facebook then we are not taking care of our chickens, we don’t have time for that. really? you could pay a high school kid $ 50.00 and he would come over, take some cool pics that the owners approve of, post them on face book and it would be done! for as many eggs as you guys sell, you kinda owe it to your customers to show us some neat pics. were not asking for daily face book posts, no one these days has time for that silliness. we love your eggs but the gentleman didn’t even offer to tell me anything about the ranch, what they feed them what kind they are, nothing. we are your customers and want to feel like we are part of your business. maybe this review is unfair but at least post a few pics and write a paragraph or two about what you guys do on the ranch… please?

I purchased some of Haney’s eggs at the Tracy farmer’s market today, but I haven’t had a chance to try them. I’m basing my review on the fact that I can’t find a website or photos or anything else to show that Haney’s Egg Ranch is what it says it is. They state that they sell organic, free-range, chicken eggs. I’d like to know for sure that this is what I’ve purchased. For a farm that sells all over the Central Valley they should at least have a website or FB page. I’ll change my rating when I’m sure I’m buying organic, free-range, chicken eggs.

Yep, I go to the Saturday Farmer’s Market in Rancho Cordova at the Sunrise Blvd light rail, and get my flat of eggs for $ 5.00(I think that works out to 2.5 dozen maybe?) Fresh, fresh, fresh.

I’m a little upset that I wasn’t the first to review this, but I’ll just suck it up. So far, these are the only eggs I’ve purchased where the smell doesn’t make my mother queasy. Every Sunday Haney Egg Ranch is at the Farmer’s Market in Sacramento under the freeway, and every Sunday I’m there like a crack fiend. And for a $ 2 fix, when eggs are normally closer to $ 4 at the supermarket, you really can’t beat it. $ 3 for brown eggs. The yolks are a vibrant mustard yellow, the taste is fresh. The smell doesn’t resemble puke, like the eggs my friends buy at Slaveway. Plus, the staff that works the booth on Sundays remembered me and now there’s a relationship. I love having relationships with the people that provide my food. Sometimes they have Quail eggs, $ 1 for a pack of six.

Just started buying their eggs at the Downtown Sacramento Farmers Market on Sundays. Really great, fresh eggs. I keep going back every week!

wow. i love being the first to review. its almost like striking gold without the riches… lol well, once you buy eggs here you will be stuck for life… you will never be able to walk into a supermarket and leave satisfied with a purchase of the those eggs… at haney’s you get a box of ex-lrg eggs for about $ 12 and one ex-lrg egg at haney’s is twice the size of a supermarket egg… not to mention you get about 100 eggs in a box… the service is fast. the only reason i held back from the fifth star was because they only take cash… no atm/credit.and parking is kinda tight .but otherwise you are usually in and out in seconds…
