Terrible. They used to keep this course up, but it seems they have given up. The fairways are completely dead along with the greens. In fact many of tee boxes are just dirt… This place is no longer worth the 18 bucks they charge for a round.

You will not find many other places that have better customer service. Just like any small business, they truly care about the experience and happiness of their customers. If you have an issue with anything, they will try and make it right, unlike many city owned courses where there is no accountability. River Oaks is perfect for golfers of all skill levels. From recreational players looking to get out on the weekends, to advanced players looking to hone their skills, River Oaks caters to everyone. The course and facility are especially good for juniors via the summer junior program and the year-round match play competitions.

It’s a cool beginner spot. It’s all Par 3’s but its great for beginners. Thanks to a co-worker, this is the place where I learned to golf. Customer service is up to par.

I mean. I give it 2 stars but its not that bad. For what you pay, it serves its purpose. Rather than running on a treadmill, you can walk around with your golfbag on your back or push it on a cart and play 9 holes for around 10 bucks or as many holes you want for 20??? Its ideal if you are a beginner and want to start learning how to golf on the field after some practice at the range or if you are super rusty like I was and wanted to hit some short irons at a target rather than at a driving range. I went on a weekday around midday and I was the only one there on the course. I saw a couple of others as I was nearing the end of my short 9 hole day. The first 9 holes are all par 3 courses. The back nine looks like it has some par 4s mixed in, but I didn’t even know where it was located.

This is my «home» course, to mean that it is almost in my backyard. I practice here all the time. I love it here. Sometimes the grass on the back 9 gets a bit long but why complain. Great golf at a good price. Well worth the visit.

I guess I’m a «Regular» here, although I’ve never played the Golf Course. I use the facilities exclusively for practice, and it’s really one of the best in the Modesto/Ceres area. Plus it’s close to home. Although a bit more expensive that some others(I get 6 tokens for about 150 balls for $ 16), they make an effort to rotate new balls into the mix every couple of months. Tee areas are grass and/or mats – take your pick. I like it because I can get off by myself and think and work on things, without having some guy with a cigar coughing and talking next to me. Good practice requires concentration and focus, and this facility provides me a way to attain that. Staff is great – very friendly and accommodating. Pro(Hizzoner Greg Silva) is good, and is busy with lessons and his great Jr. program, but always has time for me if I need attention to my mechanics. He lets me tell him when – never solicits! The range is laid out thoughtfully, not just a bunch of targets or distance markers that don’t really help tune your game. Practice green is perfect – better than any in the area. They’re remodeling the practice bunkers. All in all, this is a nice place to spend a couple of hours on your swing, or tuning up your game. Great targets for wedges, and, as we know, the game of golf is really played from 100 yds. in. I enjoy the time I spend here with my cell phone turned off.

The front 9 is good for a beginning golfer. The course is well maintained and kept up very well. The employees at the Pro Shop are very helpful and friendly. The bottom 9 is a little more challenging especially hole 12. The course is very busy especially on the weekends.
