Zac’s Hamburgers

I’m a bit surprised by the negative reviews so far. Maybe things have changed? I’ll keep this short and to the point.
I went last week after realizing Jake’s was closed, and still craving a burger. I remembered that Zac’s took over for 5 Guys, so I figured I’d give it a shot. I had a standard bacon-​cheeseburger with extra cheese; as well as an order of waffle fries.
The burger was good. It wasn’t Jakes/​Five Guys, but it was close. It was cooked properly, tasted good, and the bacon was cooked perfectly.
The waffle fries were real good. They were the seasoned kind, so less chick-​fil-​a and more arby’s curly fry flavor.
I didn’t have a chance to try the milkshake, but will next time.
Here’s the thing about Zac’s. The burgers aren’t as good as Jake’s, and the fries aren’t as good as Five Guys. The fries are good, the burgers are good; just not as good as the more known establishments. Considering Jake’s is closed and 5 Guys gone; this makes a fine and serviceable replacement.
Go in with moderate expectations and I think you’ll be pleased. If you’re going for the next Jake’s or Five Guys; skip Zac’s and go to Jake’s or Five Guys. If you’re looking for a pretty good burger and/​or pretty good fries; give Zac’s a shot. Don’t believe all the negativity because it’s not bad. Form your own opinion, but just give it a fair shot.

Somehow I ended up going to this establishment on their 30^th anniversary day! I thought Five Guys was still there so I was very confused when I saw «Zac’s». Anyways… all the prices were from 30 years ago on that specific day. I tried their fries (not the best), their burgers (better than anything you could get from McDonalds) and their milkshakes.
Don’t get me started on the milk shakes. They were to die for. The best milkshake I ever had. EVER.
People beat this place down, but the staff was amazing and the food was good. The milkshake though… YUM YUM YUM.

Other than the fact it is cheap, there is not much to like about this place. Burger looks and tastes like something you buy at the Giant and nuke in your microwave. Fries are basically Ore-​Ida. This place has to be a joke… we lost Five Guys for this??? I’d pick Jake’s any day of the week over this amateur hour.

The real genius here is how they can get the salt to look exactly like a hamburger and french fries. How on earth did Glen Mills lose a 5 Guys to a Zac’s? Did Ruben Amaro Jr. make this trade?
This burger is terrible. The fries are blah. It’s all just blah. In an era where burgers are resurgent, these guys need to just go. Seriously… what happened here???
The good news is it appears to be empty most of the time so hopefully this will be short lived.

Seriously it’s about the smallest hamburger patty that I’ve ever had. It was our first and absolutely last visit to Zac’s.
