Chris is the most knowledgable and clean breeder I have ever met. He’s also an excellent trainer and provides a great environment for the dogs. All of the dogs have their own cages, which have a roof, a shelter of some sort, food, and water. All of the cages are very well maintained and taken care of, with cement flooring. I’ve been there multiple times and they are always VERY clean. He also has a home made swimming pond made just for the dogs. He is extremely knowledgeable about the breed and all of his dogs are show quality. My sister and I both bought puppies from him and they’re the most amazing dogs we’ve ever had. Insanely perfect temperament, easily trainable, family oriented, show quality, champion bloodlines, health guaranteed.

Depending on your personal views on what you feel a puppy mill is or isn’t might determine whether or not you choose to purchase a cane corso from Massara’s. I’ll admit, compared to the pictures, videos, and articles we have access to this is not a puppy mill. But the owner is a complete A**! Chris keeps his dogs outside 24⁄7 regardless of the weather. Yes, almost all of them have a dog house with hay inside, but they are not heated. The dogs are fed whatever food is donated or the cheapest which means they constantly have diarrhea due to a unstable diet. And all of their cages have dirt floors(Chris said this is because some dogs scoot their butts on the cement and scrape their behinds raw; which does happen) which can lead to parasites, etc… they are constantly covered in mud and wet. The water buckets freeze in the winter so they have no access to clean, drinkable water and he uses a lot of house hold chemicals on his property which can lead to certain types of cancers, asthma, and other long term health problems in his dogs. He also breeds one female and before those puppies even find a home he breeds another litter. Adding to the over population problem instead of being part of the solution. I’ll admit, as much as I don’t like him personally, Chris does know his breed very well but at what cost? These dogs are not beat and all of them have their own cages so again, not a puppy mill but not a good breeder to work with either.
