My wife and I do a lot of our shopping at night because it fits our schedules. We spend several hundred dollars a week there because it is close by and acme shut down. Now customer service in the evening is absolutly absurd. Now I wasn’t aware that at giant, the nightshirt cashier and evening manager have resigned customer service. Once we were told they don’t give out rain checks at night we would have to come back after 20 questions like we were trying to get over on them. Another visit we were told since their coupon machine won’t print we can’t have the discount because their machine won’t print it but was 100% legit they just don’t care if a $ 1000 a month customer walks away for good. Now after I rang the items through and hit pay, my wife realizes one item wasn’t fresh and looked sat on and didn’t want to chance getting sick and hadn’t put the money in yet. Immediate response was we don’t do refunds at night so can’t help you, we were told we had to pay for an item that was spoiled. Now it was only $ 2.50 and we were treated like garbage, the manager couldn’t even look either of us in the eye, so rude and horrible customer service. If they refuse to do any customer and the manager tells you that you’re out of luck, come back and return it another time. Beware if you need help in any manner during the evening shift. So instead of taking a measly $ 2.50 out of his pocket(the manager who could without issue get his money back) and making the customer happy because the product wasn’t fresh, was wilted and old, this man chose to lose a customer and the same complaint time and time again on all the websites. If the store reads the problems over and over again regarding horrible customer at night, then they shouldn’t be open at night as they’re so unwilling to do anything what so ever to make a pleasant experience. Heck, one customer we saw was told she couldn’t give him change of a $ 20 because it was against policy. This man was a paying customer. That evening cashier who is filling in with brown hair seems to take great pride in pissing off customers and lives to laugh at you while treating you, the customers like garbage. Customers beware

Customer service, especially by the cashiers, is poor. I’ve had items smashed in bag by person putting heavy items on top. Have had bag break multiple times. I once took an item to checkout asking clerk if she could tell me how much it was. She said she didn’t know. She asked if I didn’t look on the shelf. I said it had no tag and I asked if she couldn’t scan it. After all this she scanned in one second. The same time a supervisor was coaching along the clerks how to respond when the regional manager visited that day. She was impressing that if asked, customer service was of top importance. I had been spending about $ 100 a week here but rarely go in since Wegman’s opened. I predict they will close and they brought it on themselves. There would always be a market for a good one in the neighborhood.

I feel like I was unfair in my previous review. No, Giant is not quite as large as Wegmans, but when it comes to the deli section, it is WAY cheaper. I discovered this just the other day, while buying my self-made salad from the salad bar. At Wegmans, the price is 8.99 a pound. I paid over 8 dollars for a salad that was under 4 dollars at Giant, and Giant’s was actually fresher tasting! I am also a fan of their produce section, even though I have gotten my fair share of mushy strawberries. I think their pre-sliced fruit is perfect for when I’m picking up a quick lunch, and there are usually coupons attached for immediate use at check-out. I also have to give a shout-out to Jimmy. He’s just the sweetest and by far Giant’s friendliest employee. He always makes a point to address customers by name. Everyone who shops here loves him!

WOW. Customer service is something special here at this store.
