Katz Lounge is fairly small and tucked back away from Paris Rd., such that unless you were looking for it, you probably wouldn’t notice it was there… and I suspect that’s the way they like it. I drove by it several times before noticing the small lightboard on the sidewalk out front advertising bands, and figured that if this wasn’t the place that I was looking for, maybe it would be interesting anyway. Dim, with red lighting accents, this bar features an excellent quality pool table(75 cents a game), a jukebox, and an upstairs area for more private seating. On the night I was there, about all but one or two of the patrons were of the 40+ set, and clearly locals who knew each other. Certain nights feature karaōke, and live bands will play for some occasions. Beers are reasonably priced– Abitas can be had for a fair $ 3. Being Louisiana, this bar is smoke-friendly, but the ceiling is significantly tall, so I don’t believe that the place would become choked with smoke.
