I love this place! My wife and I live out of state but we always stop into the butcher shop when visiting Chambersburg.

Super expensive overpriced meats and foods, save your money and go somewhere else. Easy to spend $ 100 without even trying.

One of our favorite go to’s when we are in a rush! I swear my husband would eat here everyday if I allowed it. Everything’s so fresh and homemade.

The Butcher Shoppe is an excellent locally owned butcher shop, deli, grocery, and bakery! The Butcher Shoppe carries many fresh meat products that would otherwise be difficult to find in Chambersburg. Their hamburger has very few preservatives, so it always makes for a fresh tasting meal. They also carry as excellent deli turkey(called Our Own Roasted Turkey) that is moist and tasty without being slimey. I also like their salmon pinwheels. As for baked goods, I like their white breads. Some of their deserts are pricey, so I don’t often buy them there. I once had them bake a birthday cake, and it was DRY, so I won’t make that mistake twice. I also like how they rotate their stock. They carry new meat and fish items nearly every week, and some of the fresh fish filets can’t be found at Giant, Weis, etc.

There are many things to like about this place. It’s the best place around for meat & seafood. Several of the prepared foods are excellent as well, including the egg salad & chicken salad. A good selection of soups too. I’m not a big fan of the deserts, but it’ a good place to pick something up if you’re in a rush. The staff is very friendly & pleasant to deal with.

Great, friendly staff. Unfortunately, not the best selection. But good options to choose from

Came here as my wife said it’s the best butchers in the area, I’m not so sure… I wanted short ribs for a goulash recipe. I asked for short ribs, I was shown short baby back ribs from a pig. Wrong animal! I told them that it’s from the latte section of a cow not a pig. That it’s a cut of beef used in goulash… I got blank stares & an offer of boneless ribs. I asked if they were certain that they did not sell short ribs. The guy serving me confured with another guy. No they don’t sell them. Now I know I’m a vegetarian, but surely if I’ve heard of short back ribs, then they must have? Or am I delusional? Heaven help me if I had asked if they had them in a English cut… I spoke about my experience in a local shop later the same day. The replies were that this place is all hype & short on substance. I agree!

I adore the Butcher Shoppe for many reasons. First, their desserts are fantastic, and all made on-site. Always fresh and wonderful tasting. They don’t use high fructose corn syrup, not even on cake icing. The cookies are superb, cakes and cupcakes moist yet fluffy, and they have shoo-fly pie that is awesome! They even have mini pies! The Butcher Shoppe also has great soups. Their potato salad is the best I’ve ever had. I don’t usually like potato salad, but theirs is delicious. They have lots of refrigerated foods like soups, casseroles, pasta dishes, deli salads, and more in different sizes for singles or families. Super convenient. The meat section has everything you might want, and maybe more. Never have I gotten bad meat, either. You’ll generally pay more for a cut of beef here than a grocery store, but the quality is higher. Another great aspect of The Butcher Shoppe is the staff. Everyone is so nice and helpful! They’re patient for you to choose, they are efficient, and nice. You can also pick up staples like eggs, milk, and other grocery items. You’ll pay more, but it’s a good convenience factor. They do run sales, so check their flyer online. Near the deli counter, they have a made-to-order pizza, sub, and salad bar. They make what you want. I’ve never tired it, but always think I should every time I’m there. I love getting their roasted turkey lunch meat, it tastes like freshly carved(thin) turkey breast right from the bird. Not processed into a slick piece of «meat.» It’s expensive, but worth it for a stellar sammich or wrap. You can also pick up local produce in the spring/summer when stuff is in season. Other produce doesn’t always look awesome, and is often expensive, but it’s there. I like that you can buy smaller packages of lettuces instead of a big bag. That way, if you only want enough for a few sandwiches or wraps, you can get just that much. Did I mention the seafood here? No? Well, they have it! They will run Gulf shrimp specials from time to time, too. I feel like most of their seafood is a bit expensive, but then again, it’s high quality. They actually carry Tilapia that is NOT from Asia, which is insanely hard to find. You can also find a great selection of poultry here. Frozen or fresh. While the Butcher Shoppe is expensive, it’s worth it. Great staff, great quality, and you always know you’re getting your money’s worth. To note, they’re not open on Sundays. This is a family-owned company and they strongly believe in not making their employees work on Sundays. Kudos!

Butcher Shoppe features a lot of great grocery style food — along with a sub and hoagie shop in the back. The subs and salads are made to order, Subway restaurant style. I’ve had both subs and salads and both are equally good and very affordable. The parking lot is very ample — the ease of getting in and out is a plus as well.

Absolute favorite to buy fresh meat from as we’ll pick up a sub for lunch. The staff is friendly, the place is clean & it’s a very fast and efficient process.

Hands down one of the best markets for single dining. If you’re planning a party, they are more than accommodating and timely. The food quality is excellent and the staff is very knowledgeable. They are also one of the best alternatives for lunch time in the area.

I love love love this place. It reminds you of an old time grocery and deli, but with all high quality products. The bag people even volunteer to help carry the bags to your car. Their hoagies are the best deal in town, and the pre-made foods give you a real taste of homemade that you just don’t get from other grocery store soups, salads, etc.
