I was a little disappointed based on the rave reviews that were posted. I went with some friends during lunch and found that the pricing was definitely a plus here. We ordered 2 taco salads, and a burrito combo plate. I also asked for guacamole. Instead of letting me know that they didn’t serve guacamole(which I should have seen on the menu, so that’s a me problem) they conferred and supplied me with a large bowl of what I assume was their tomatillo. It wouldn’t have been a big deal to just let me know that they didn’t serve the item so that I could make a decision regarding whether or not I actually wanted a separate menu item. The taco salads had a good flavor, so no complaint there. The steak burrito lacked a little in the taste department. The other thing that I noticed was that they were busy mopping the place during the lunch rush, which should have waited for later. Overall it was just an okay experience.

WHAT. THE. HELL. I’ve lived in Atlanta for 2 ½ years and I just discovered this place. I feel like I’ve missed out on 2 ½ years of tacos. I just got tacos, but I’ll be back for tortas. The al pastor tacos are to die for. I got it with the pineapple that it’s roasted with, as well as queso, and I would highly recommend that combo to anyone and everyone. I also got a chicken and carne asada, both great. But that al pastor… They have a salsa bar with the usual suspects, but it’s still probably my favorite bar I’ve been to. I have no idea why they serve macaroni salad but I am really into it. Go now.

Quick, tasty, and inexpensive. Las tortas has a good combination of Mexican/tex mex choices. I’ve tried the quesadilla before and it was delicious(hard to mess up a quesadilla) and they don’t skimp on the filling. It was also accompanied by beans and rice, so overall very filling. They also have a large salsa bar with many options and add-ons. Today I tried the loca salad and piled on some more veggies and salsas on the side. The beef is flavorful and the queso is also good. I poured salsa verde and other types over it. I also ordered a jugo de tamarindo(tamarind juice) because it’s one of my favorites and you can’t exactly find it on tap where I live in Wisconsin. The staff is also extremely friendly! Great lunch place, and you can watch a telenovela.

This is the Chamblee Tucker location. Beans were excellent, rice was excellent. Enjoyed my tacos(particularly recommend the barbacoa ‘steamed beef’). Wife enjoyed her burrito. No complaints.

Excellent Torta. I’m not a professional Torta eater or anything, but I’ve had a few in my life. I really enjoyed the bread on this one. I think no matter what nationality your sandwich is, the bread makes or breaks it. If you are low carbing… this is not the stop for you. The bread is about an inch thick, maybe more. It’s tuff enough to hold the innards of amazing steak, cheese, peppers, avacodo, or whatever you put in yours… but soft enough not to cut the top of your mouth. I’d visit again for sure.

I have so far just tried their tacos and chicken flautas. Both very delicious! Really love their salsa bar. Their rice and beans are so great. They also have a tasty variety of different Mexican drinks.

Te quiero mucho Las Tortas Locas!!! My husband brought me here over three years ago and my life hasn’t been the same. I’ve tried almost everything. Tortas– big and filling, they have about 20 different ones. The pastor and the Hawaiian are my favorite. Quesadillas– very big my two year old loves them he eats two pieces and takes a nap lol. The meat is really seasoned well I’m not really a fan of flour tortillas but I like their’s a lot. Salads– The loca salad is sooooo good! I get the steak salad it comes with queso fresco, tomatoes, avocados, olives, and tortilla strips it is HUGE and just pour some salsa on top and heaven! Tacos– the pastor tacos are to die for! And so are the chicharones and salsa verde. Flautas– They are super long like a taquito on steroids. They top it with lettuce, cheese, avocados, and tomatoes. I love theses most of the time it’s all I get. Salsa– OMG!!! Delicious! The avocado one is so spicy and so good! Sometimes I just come to get salsa when I cook at home. I love their habanero onions too! Drinks– the mango juice is amazing! My husband loves the Jamaican(hibiscus) drink and tamarind(no me gusta). The horchata tastes like liquid diabetes but I love it! You can’t go wrong with a Mexican restaurant that Mexicans actually go to.

This place was alright for tacos. I was in the area and wanted some tacos for lunch, Ive been to don pedro many times, so I figured to switch it up with this place. My boyfriend got the taco combo, and i got 1 pastor, and 2 steak tacos. The pastor was pretty good, I didn’t like how the corn tortillas were«thick.» It made it hard to eat. Their salsa bar was okay to me. Everything did look fresh. The 2 steak tacos I ordered were the best in flavors. I don’t think i’ll ever have a stomach for tortas because they do look huge. The cashier was pretty friendly, and food came out in a timely manner.

My first time here and I played it safe. I ordered the asada. It was good and full of flavor. I love the avocado in the middle of the tortas. The salsa bar is phenomenal! Next time I’m going knee-deep.

I was really craving a torta for some reason and I’d heard pretty good things about this place from friends so here I came. Everything on the menu sounded delicious, in fact the flautas sounded so good that it swayed from my torta craving. Coming in I was a little bit concerned that there might be a language barrier, as it seemed like I was the only non Spanish speaker in the restaurant, but the cashier took my order with no problem; I ordered the beef flautas to go. It also came out a lot faster than I expected considering the line was pretty long. I did end up waiting a little bit longer than I needed to, the cooks call out the orders in Spanish and I overestimated my ability to understand ‘134’(you would think after two years of Spanish!). It was easily rectified, I just went up to the counter and asked for my order. The flautas were decent, they came in two very long pieces versus four shorter ones and they were topped with generous amounts of a lettuce/queso type salad. The tortillas were nice and crispy, I found that there was slight aftertaste that I didn’t enjoy from the beef though. maybe next time I’ll go with my original hankering.

This place is next to my office, so seeing that it had good reviews on Unilocal,I decided to try it out. I took the lunch special for $ 4.75 to go — 2 tacos(1 chicken, 1 steak), black beans and rice. Price wise everything is under $ 7.00 I told them I wanted the cilantro and onions versus the cheese and lettuce, they still gave me cheese on my tacos. This was okay because the cheese was real Mexican cheese. I asked if I could substitute out the beans and rice for a salad = NO! Cashier pointed to the sauce bar(ha ha!) The tacos were good. The steak was flavorful as was the chicken and both were tender. They did not skimp on the meat. The picture another user uploaded of the taco combo is on point. The bean and rice portions were really small it was like half of what you would get at any other Mexican joint but the tacos were filling. I’m guessing the beans and rice aren’t really sides and more as toppings for the tacos? The salad/sauce bar was a pretty cool addition but to go people you have to pay an extra $ 2.25 for a small bowl to take the stuff home(not worth it) just pile whatever you want on your To Go plate. The sauces are pretty spicy and I’m Indian-ish so we eat some pretty hot stuff but DANG! These sauces were HOT, be careful! I subtracted a star for them not offering any accommodations for to go patrons and a star for no salad substitutions for people who want a lighter side option. I will most likely visit in the near future when I crave Mexican tacos, but just because it is located near my office. I most likely would never drive to eat here.

I was a little sad to see that there are so few vegetarian options on the menu. Also, the one that I did find – the cheese torta – was pretty good, but it was too simple. I would have preferred more ingredients and the cheese to be melted. All that being said, if meat is your thing, you have a lot of great options. And, the salsa bar is well kept. It has a lot of options on it, and it’s very clean. You might want to refresh your knowledge of Spanish numbers. They easily took my order in English, but when my order was ready, the order number wasn’t called out in English.

That green guacamole looking sauce at the salad bar is like CRACK. Absolutely delicious. I could drink a whole gallon of that stuff. I ordered the Flautas. It’s basically 2 fried corn tortilla’s wrapped with chicken, tomato, cilantro, lettuce and other stuff inside. The tortilla’s were fried perfectly. it was still soft in the middle but yet crispy. Chicken was AMAZING. very juicy and tender. Eat it with the green sauce = HEAVEN. I also ordered the mango juice. Not even kidding. but that mango juice tasted like they squeezed real fresh mango’s. I really enjoyed this place and highly recommend it if you want something easy, fast, and cheap. I can tell this place was super authentic, they even called out the order numbers in spanish(luckily I knew a few numbers in spanish). When I walked in, the entire restaurant was basically filled with hispanic’s. I felt a little out of place. But if you’re willing to look past it. go in and order the Flautas!

I have been looking for a good Mexican restaurant with a salsa bar. The salsa bar wasn’t exactly what I expected, as there weren’t any chips(I ordered chips) and there were no bowls for the salsa; only tiny little plastic cups. I don’t know exactly where I was supposed to put salsa if I had wanted to dip my chip into it, but I got cheese dip, so I just didn’t get any. The one thing I did like about the bar was the very hot red pepper sauce that I used to spice up my cheese dip and burrito. YUM! I got a steak burrito and cheese dip with chips. Both were very, very good. I’ve read other reviews where the reviewer was the only non-hispanic or english-speaking person in the restaurant, which was true in my case also, but they didn’t make me feel out of place at all. Everyone is very happy and inviting. Las Tortas Locas is quite a hike for me, so I won’t be going there on a regular basis but if I’m in Doraville around mealtime, I’ll definitely stop in for their good food and hot red sauce.

Another discovery thanks to Unilocal — this place has tortas(of course), tacos(but no fish), quesadillas, burritos, and lunch specials($ 4.75−5.75). You order at the front, and they will call you when your food is ready. Cashier speaks English but the cooks do not — I tried to ask for cilantro but they didn’t understand me :) Restaurant looks very clean, employees are nice, they have a great salsa bar(the creamy spicy avocado salsa is my favorite), prices are in the $ 4 – 7 range, and the food is good. I was the only non-Mexican customer for both my visits so I guess that’s a good sign too :) MILANESATORTAS — $ 5.50 Breaded meat, avocado, cheese, lettuce, and tomato. Very tasty sandwich although a little overwhelmed by the bread. I’d still get it again. TACOCOMBOLUNCHSPECIAL — $ 4.75 Includes two tacos, charbroiled chicken or steak(both good), double layer corn tortillas(authentic & fresh), but sadly Gringo-style w/shredded iceberg and cheese … if you’re non-Mexican and you want chopped onions & cilantro, you probably have to ask for it. The combo also came w/Mexican rice and black beans(both ok and rather small portion). CHIPS&SALSA — $ 2.50 Sadly not complimentary but you do get a nice tub of salsa which I ended up taking home. HORCHATA — $ 1.75 Very good. If you haven’t had Horchata before, don’t miss out. I’ll definitely be back. I just wish they served fish tacos too. FYI — they’re located in the strip mall just behind Penang.

This place is a hidden gem in my neighborhood. Perhaps not the best torta in the neighborhood; however, it may be the best torta for the money($ 5.50). A torta, for those not familiar, is Spanish for«turtle,» it is a mexican sub type sandwich filled with your choice of meat, avocado, lettuce, cheese and is served on top of toasty /crusty bread. Some places put a refried bean spread and /or sour cream based condiment on their versions but this place does not. A torta may be Mexican on origin but it doesn’t taste like typical Mexican cuisine as do tacos or burritos. I went here on a Saturday afternoon around 4:30 pm and it was buzzing with activity. You order at the counter to order from an overhead menu printed in both English and Spanish. I did get some odd stares considering I was the only non-hispanic /non-latino in the place. I ordered a steak torta, in which the meat was grilled to perfection. I added a bunch of different salsas(from the salsa bar) to every bite. The salsa bar is fantastic and has about 6 to 8 different salsas with varying levels of spiciness /heat. There are also different types of condiments, salads(cold macaroni salad is deliciously different and fresh) and relishes of various colors(red, green, orange, etc). They also have traditional fresh toppings like carrot, radish, cucumber, lime, onion and jalapeño(pickled and fresh). The place is surprisingly bright and clean. I enjoy going to dark, hole in the wall dives; however, I also don’t like not knowing how unsanitary a place might be. This place can be hard to find if you dont know the area well; it is behind Penang in the Hoa Binh, Phở Bac, Viet Tofu shopping center. There is plenty of safe parking. For about $ 5.50 — $ 6, you get a great, tasty sandwich, I will be back to try the other sandwich options. I hear that it is open late — until 5am on weekends.
