all three stars go to the delivery guy. My phone was dead when he tried to call me and so he had to wait outside the gate until someone else came in. He was super nice and kind. About the food, i ordered the shrimp tom yum goong, As soon as I opened the delivery soup cup it was so covered with mushroom. I like mushroom the ones in the soup tasted so bad. And the soup was just tooo weirdly sweet for me. I guess I ordered the wrong thing, but think twice before you order the tom yom goong.

1. The menu: Lots of vegetarian options, from tofu alternatives to vegetable-specific dishes! 2. My favorites: The fresh tofu spring rolls are a great addition to any meal, and the tofu Pad Kee Mow(Thai«crazy noodles») are great. The sauce is great, there are plenty of vegetables to complement the noodles, and their«spice scale» is pretty spot-on(you can ask for crushed Thai peppers on the side if you need some extra kick) 3. Delivery: I’ve never dined in at Golden Wok, but their delivery service through EatStreet or GrubHub(or even simply over the phone) is the best I’ve seen in a while. Even though EatStreet claimed my order would take 45 – 60 minutes, I called(because I had an exam to get to) and they drove it out sooner because of my time crunch. Also, these guys will deliver anywhere — I asked the driver what their delivery zone was, and he replied with: «You hungry? We’ll deliver» Solid food, reliable delivery and friendly staff. I got this app just so I could write them a shining review. You go, Golden Wok

I ordered from the Golden Wok after reading good reviews here since I don’t live in Champaign, got take-out of sweet and sour chicken, crab rangoon, and my boyfriend got spring rolls and szechuan beef. The crab rangoon came with 6 pieces that were very, very good. I recommend eating them with the sweet and sour sauce that came with my order. The sweet and sour chicken was also very good, huge portion size too! The dipping sauce for the chicken has a little spice to it but isn’t too much to handle. Came with a ton of white rice too, had to split up the meal into two! For the spring rolls, the order came with two pretty large rolls and they were really tasty, even better with the sauce that came with them. When they ask if you want the szechuan beef spicy, BEWARNED! It is very, very spicy! I’m a huge fan of spicy foods and this one definitely made me sweat. Overall, very quick food prep time, very big portion sizes, and very good quality food!

Definitely not impressed. Asked for fried rice, told them to make it hot. In stead I got some oily and greasy fried rice. With every bite I had to mix Siracha just to make the dish edible. It simply spoilt my hunger :(

After a Sunday full of football I didn’t feel like cooking. I was craving some Thai food and the fam wanted Chinese. Ok! I’ll order jungle curry, you order your broccoli and beef. It was delicious! A little bit of wait on the delivery, but hey; it was fresh!

I always order from here when I’m at work. They deliver within a decent amount of time and the food is delicious. They have a good selection of food. I’m pretty simple. My favorite is the sweet and sour chicken.

Disappointing delivery order. I decided to have my food delivered so that I could watch the Chicago Cubs in the baseball playoffs. I went with the Singapore special, spicy curry chicken with onions. To treat myself I ordered an eggroll and also hot and sour soup. When the delivery came 40 minutes later, I was surprised that the eggroll did NOT have the typical packets of sweet sauce or mustard sauce, the chopsticks that I asked for in my special request were NOT delivered, and the spicy curry chicken with onions was approximately 12 ounces of brown sauce with some chicken parts in it that appeared to have been smashed with a sledgehammer. There was no rice provided and there are no other vegetables in the dish other than approximately six rings of a sliced onion swimming in brown oil. The chicken was skin and fat included. Bones were included as well, although they had carefully smashed each bone so that it was in multiple shards with sharp edges. This may be the quintessential way that Singapore special spicy curry chicken with onions is served. So shame on me if I just was not familiar with the dish. A little rice on the side would have been a nice treat. The hot & sour soup was neither better nor worse than any other hot and sour soup I’ve had from any other Asian restaurant in Champaign.

Hands down, the best Fried rice you will ever eat, i’m confident in saying that it is that good. i LOVE the Chicken Pad Thai fiery hot, but i’ve tried the garlic beef lunch dish and its beyond excellent. Try the fried rice with any dish, it will blow you away.

By far the best beef fried rice in the area. Their beef with Chinese broccoli is also recommended. Great family restaurant with decent prices. I’ve been going there for about 8 years now and I always get same good quality.

Update: I went back twice: first for beef pad kee mao and second for the roast duck with noodles. The beef pad kee mao was a disappointment. I wouldn’t have known any better if I had never tried this dish at the other Thai places on campus. So it’s not that it was inedible or unappetizing in any way– it was just lame. Poor variety of vegetables and offensive reliance on cheap, filler food(i.e. noodles). Yet it was about the same price as the better places. Honestly though, if not being compared to anywhere else, this is a decent dish. The roast duck with noodles, hovever, is not a decent dish. The roast duck was exactly as bad as I had remembered it(see below). The dish was 5⁄6 noodle(again) and some veggies. The 1⁄6 that was technically duck was ¾ bone. It was unpleasant. From the Unilocal photo, I thought the duck cuts served here would be nice, thick slices of soft meat. What I got was one drumstick and part of a thigh that was hacked into pieces with the bone still in. Not pleasant to eat at all. I’m perplexed that this is what passes as a duck dish. Where have the standards gone? It rattles my mind. I get that the photo is not of this dish, but I could reasonably expect that a duck dish doesn’t mean drumstick or that most of it would be bone. Who even serves a drumstick as part of a noodle dish? I think it’s reasonable for this style of dish to be boneless or have more cutlets mixed in or perhaps it should be renamed to specify that it is a duck leg. If you ordered chicken pasta would you really expect that it would be a bed of pasta with a drumstick on top? No, I know you wouldn’t unless it specifically said so. You would think it was a pasta dish with boneless little pieces of chicken mixed in or with slices on the side. No one would ever expect that a chicken dish would be served the way the duck dish is served here. It would be called«Pasta with 1 Piece Drumstick» or «Pasta with Chicken Leg», not«Chicken with Pasta.» I believe that they’re cutting corners. The little meat that was tossed in was, again, difficult to chew and was burned in some places to the point that it was inedible. I really wanted to like this place because everyone who works here is super cool and the service is awesome. That’s why I gave it multiple tries. Also, huge portions don’t matter at all if it’s overwhelming rice or noodles. I hope people see the light. Here’s a star bump for good service though. — My friend and I came here. He got Chinese, I got Thai. Both of our dishes were hard to finish. The duck was strange and powdery and dry. Far too crispy with little meat. We both tried a very long time to figure out why this place had such stellar ratings on Unilocal since the food was rather unbrilliant. Turns out, we were looking for Golden HARBOR. Our taste buds knew something was wrong before we did. Oops. Off-by-one-word error.

Came here for a quickly lunch after a long road trip We ordered the roast duck noodle soup and eggplant stir-fry with white rice. The noodle, soup, and duck was good. The eggplant stirfry was a little too salty, I ate all my rice and only half the eggplant. On the bright side, I can eat the leftovers later! Just moved to Chambana, and I will be a regular here!

Golden Wok has a good selection, so there is sure to be something to please everyone. I have had the Tofu Pad Thai and the Vegetable with Szechwan Style, which is served with white rice. I really like the variety of vegetables and the spice of the latter, so it has become my go-to order from this place. They are reasonably priced and the portions are large enough to split with a friend. Their delivery times are always very quick as well. I really don’t think you are go wrong at Golden Wok.

We ordered delivery mid-afternoon on a Sunday. The online ordering was not working so I called and was pleasantly surprised to speak with someone who was able to take my order in coherent English, as this has always been an age-old problem ordering Chinese food over the phone. Delivery time was ~45 minutes, which seems to be the standard in Champaign-Urbana, no complaints there. We ordered Chicken Yi Mein and Sweet & Sour Chicken with a side of egg roll and egg drop soup. My Yi Mein was just fair, the thin noodles were interesting but overall I thought it was bland. It looked like the sauce had pooled up at the bottom and it was almost all liquid. The quantity of chicken to vegetables to noodles was also kind of unbalanced, I thought. My friend’s sweet and sour chicken was much more flavorful and tasty than my dish, I probably should have ordered that. He also liked the egg-drop soup. However, the reason for only 2 stars comes from the egg roll. My friend found a very small chunk of what he believed to be plastic inside the egg roll. We tried really hard to identify the object but gave up out of disgust. I don’t think there’s anything that justifies this, and coupled with my underwhelming Yi Mein, I probably would not order from here again.

I was extremely impressed with my overall experience here. Price is reasonable. Food is seriously delicious and everything seems to be made with fresh ingredients. The biggest thing that impressed me was the attention to detail. I ordered the spicy green curry with shrimp and I noticed that they cut off the shell of the shrimp all the way down to the tail, making it easier for you to eat the entire shrimp without having to dig out the meat. Also FYI, the«hot» is really really spicy. I ate the entire thing but went through 5 napkins of sweat. I can’t imagine what fire hot is like
