Not a typical public park. No playground. No grills. But that’s fine. That’s not the park’s purpose. It is a fantastic community gathering place in the heart of downtown Chandler. SanTan Brewing and many other businesses are conveniently located nearby as well.
We attend the Indian Art Market held here every October. It’s a small event. A wide variety of Native American arts and crafts are available to purchase. Fry bread. Indian tacos. Entertainment. And the Miss Indian AZ contestants are always in attendance. The Dr. AJ Chandler Park is all about special events and it is perfectly suited for the Art Market.

Great park that has tons of free events. Just got back from the Corvette show they hosted at this park. Plenty of beautiful cars to look at.

Fun monthly art walk. Holiday parade strolls right next to the park. The annual Tumbleweed Christmas Tree is on the north end of the park Thanksgiving through Christmas. Free photo with Santa is set up on a Saturday in December. Fun activities.
People are right, it’s not a park with many activities or a playground for kids, yet it’s a relaxing place to meet someone in the middle of downtown. It’s in the center of the plethora of shops, restaurants, ice cream parlor, bars, improv comedy, pottery shop, etc.
I’m glad it’s a park and not a parking lot — that’d be depressing.

Two thumbs down… this Santan Brewing Oktoberfest 2014 event feels poorly planned. Ridiculous lines – or lack of such, NOT enough trash bins and NO one picking up ALL the garbage, too much nauseating base from the loud band, MAD crush everywhere, too much ‘smoke,’ ick.

I wouldn’t really call it a park. There is no playground. It is a nice location in downtown Chandler. Maybe a nice place to read a book or play a board game.
