Joncen Phi

I came to Joncen on a whim. I had no referrals, just the online reviews and I was not disappointed. He was nice, professional and took care with my hair. I love my look.

I found Joncen on Unilocal about a year ago while I was temporarily staying in Chandler. I typically would not just point and shoot when picking someone new for my hair however, I had procrastinated to the point that I just HAD to have it done.
I explained my goals of growth and still remaining blonde and he got me scheduled and in the following weekend. Perfect!
He got my hair from a drab blonde lightened up, refreshed and balayaged. He got the top of my hair so close to my natural dirty blonde that I have not had to have my hair colored again since my first visit in February. WHAT! Amazing.
Not only is this inexpensive to upkeep, but my hair is 10x healthier (and growing!). He has put toner on only once and he keeps me in check with my 8 week appointments for my trims. (I need someone to hold me accountable for regular trims so this is perfect!)
He’s very sweet and talented. Although I am back in Scottsdale I will continue going back for his fantastic work and advice. It’s worth the drive for me (:

I’ve gone through millions of hair stylists and I can honestly say my search is over. Joncen not only gives you the style you want, but he will make sure your hair is still healthy and in good condition.
My hair is naturally dark brown and I’ve dyed it many times to a dark black color. Starting in 2013 I began my process in going blonde. The hair stylists I’ve met prior to Joncen were only capable of turning my hair into a yellow golden blonde (which is not what I wanted). I then met Joncen and in a matter of 4 – 5 months, he was able to turn my hair from golden blonde to an almost white platinum blonde. Better yet my hair felt healthier during the whole process.
What I love about his work the most is he will never allow you to leave knowing your hair is in bad condition.
I go back to him regularly either for a touch up, change of style, or even just for hair products. He will offer his opinion and he always stays on top of what is trendy.
Thanks to Joncen I have received more compliments than I’ve ever had, even compliments from random strangers!
I have recommended him to all my family and friends and have yet to hear or see any complaints.
Visit him and you will forever be impressed.

I’ll try and keep this short and sweet. Joncen does great work as showcased by his instagram and Unilocal photos. There’s no doubt about that. However, in my experience, I felt a bit pressured into a completely different look and direction than I came in with, one that to me, seemed quicker, easier, and more convenient for him. I wanted an overall lighter hair color from long virgin black hair, and we ended up doing a balayage (that only lightened about 40−50% of my hair). He gave me the reason that lightening my whole head would be very damaging, but I would have been fine with just a gradual overall lift of a few shades lighter, and work towards my end goal of light hair over a few visits. Also, I still dont understand why lightening just the ends is any healthier than doing it all. Perhaps he didn’t think I was sure or confident about going full lighter?
While the color work and and balayaging were well done, at the end of the day, I felt disappointed that he didnt try to approach what I had originally wanted. It felt a bit like he just didnt feel up to doing it that day. Since his reputation and work was so great, I shut my mouth and trusted his direction. Although at one point he was trying to suggest we do colors that were the opposite of the color I wanted (aka he wanted to do what he wanted to do?)
Unfortunately, I left the salon a bit disappointed and $ 200 poorer. I will say that perhaps I should have pushed more for what I wanted. But I’m an inexperienced salon-​goer and fully trusted that he’d consider my requests, or at least help me get to where I wanted to go, even if it can’t be done in one visit. He was a nice guy and very talented at what he does, but I didn’t feel heard.

Joncen is awesome! I’ve never had a better hair experience with anyone else! He makes you feel comfortable and you can always count on the fact that your hair will turn out amazing!

I’ve known Joncen for 4 ½ years now. He’s an amazing talented stylist. He knows what he’s doing. He’s understanding and patient. His custom color formulation are amazing so vibrant, shiny and sleek I rarely say this but I consider him to be a true master
driven and knows his craft. I totally recommend him to anyone who is in the area or anyone out of state visiting AZ who wants a fresh new look. You’ll walk out of his salon feeling refreshed and amazing!!!

Joncen. Is an amazing hair stylist he has the gift to transform hair into any beautiful masterpiece! I have been going to him since he started and that’s been years! I am a very picky person when it comes to my hair but Joncen can look at my hair and come up with beautiful art, I trust his judgement and he has always fulfilled my hair’s needs every time! Let’s say if he moved out the country I would have to fly to get my hair done by him just cause he’s the only one that can do it perfect!

For the first time in my life i felt satisfied with my hair color walking out of a hair salon. He listend to me and made sure i understood what would and wouldn’t be feasable for the first hair sesssion. He is really fun to talk to and is very understanding and honest. I also gave him a five star because he has pretty good prices for the work that he does.

I knewJoncen since he was in Beauty school. I was looking for help doing Miss Phoenix Chinese. The first I saw him I know this guy would be an amazing hairdresser and he proof that! Great personality an knowledgable in the profession. Always take time to understand what’s your goal and provides appropriate suggestion. I’m a stylist as well but Joncen is my personal favorite stylist! Love his art!

Joncen always knows what to do with my hair when it’s in desperate need of some TLC. When it comes to color he is absolutely the best. My boyfriend has never ever said one thing to me about not liking my hair. It was not until i went on a small hiatus and had someone touch up my hair and my boyfriend hated it that I took a break from coloring my hair all together and decided to come back because I know that I can trust Joncen with my hair at any given time.
Check out his portfolio he is probably the most creative hair colorist I’ve ever met. If my job would allow me to do something crazy with my hair I would run to Joncen in a heart beat. Joncen is an amazing hairstylist! I’ve been going to him since he first started and I love how my hair looks and feels after he’s done with it. I have really long hair and it can tend to feel heavy. After he’s done it feels lighter and the frizz is gone. Can’t say enough good things about this guy.
