Koala Tree & Landscape

I had the same problem as Robert W. He was eager for my business and said he had done the landscaping for the prior owners of my house. He came over one time and was prompt and did a great job. I’ve called and left several messages for him since and he has completely blown me off. Not sure if he went out of business or what.

Matt at Koala Tree is without question the kind of contractors you want to engage to work on your yard — he approaches every project with a positive, anything is possible attitude and nothing seems beyond his ability. I first engaged Matt to trim away the winter damage in my trees, but he did not hesitate to climb up on my roof to trim back the neighbors tree that was clogging up my drains. His knowledge of trees is impressive, he knew what every tree needed and was lacking and made sure he took care of it even though I had not known these things were issues. I was so impressed with his work I sent him to my 80 year old parents to install a small yard and a lemon tree — and he not only charmed the heck out of my Mom, no easy task, but she was completely at ease having a stranger working around her house! I knew I needed to replace the grass in my backyard but when Matt asked what else I wanted done, I turned the reins over to him and the result is beautiful — new walkways, new stepping stones, lights and drip system — he even bricked over the BBQ so it matches (which turned out to be a complete nuisance but he never once complained.) Matt sticks with you until the job is complete, returning without hesitation if something is not working right or exactly as you want it. Matt is not always easy to get ahold of, he does not like stopping work to take calls so you have to give him credit there — but persist in your efforts to connect with him — its worth it!

I really really wanted to give Matt and his company a great review, but!
I originally contacted 3 different tree removal companies to have a large ugly tree removed from my front yard. Of the three, Koala (Matt) was the only one to call me back and give me what I felt was a great price. I told him I was waiting on other estimates and would get back to him. About a week went by and when I did not hear back from anyone else I called Matt back to hire him. When I first called him out for the estimate, he answered the phone right away, this time was another story. I had to call about 3 – 4 times, each time leaving a message that I wanted to hire him, but couldn’t get a call back. Finally one night out of the blue he calls me, tells me he’s been busy, but wants my business. We set up a date to cut the tree down and he actually showed up after we called him to see where he was. He was at Moon Valley picking up our pineapple palm we wanted planted. He arrived at our house, by himself, and cut the tree down, ground out the stump, and planted the new tree. Mission accomplished. He even met with my neighbor who wanted a tree cut down also, and made a deal with him but he would have to come back on another day. My wife asked about the sprinkler system we have and its operation, and he said he would talk to me about it when he came back to take down the neighbors tree.
Well its been over 6 weeks now and we have never seen or heard from Matt again. Our new tree is tilting sideways, sprinkler system is still a ?, and my neighbor is still waiting to get his tree cut down. I have called him at least 3 times and left messages but have never heard back. Not a good way to run a business. Good luck in the future Matt, but I won’t be calling or recommending your company to anyone!!!

Matt came to my house, we agreed on monthly landscaping on my 2^nd residence and he never showed up after that. I have tried to contact him several times but he does not return my messages. Big let down as some of my landscaping died because of this guy.
