Chanhassen Library

Really nice library, great selection and cool place for kids!

This is a very nice library right in the heart of Chanhassen. It’s small, so the browsing isn’t so great. But if you know what you want and are patient, there’s always the interlibrary loan. And since it’s the 21^st century, you can search and reserve books online from home. I applied for my library card online and had it mailed to me. It was almost too easy.
The kids’ section is nice — lots of good kiddie browsing, computers set up to play educational games, puzzles, scheduled story times during the day. At the self check-​out stations, there’s even one that’s really low so the kids can have fun scanning things out too — which my daughter loves to do.
There’s a pleasant green outside the library with a fountain and benches. The Chanhassen Farmer’s Market is held here on Saturday mornings, as are civic events on Memorial Day, the 4^th of July, etc. The parking deck is small, though. The lower level of the parking deck holds only 16 – 20 cars (4 rows of either 4 or 5). Parking’s never been an issue for me, but I’ve never been down here during an event.
