This place is neat! That is how I will start out my 3 Star review. It is a very neat idea. You walk in and three large screens show you the ropes: Pick your size, pick your base(Ice cream, custard, yogurt, dairy free, etc), pick your flavours(from a list of around 30, as many as you like), and pick your mix-ins, like chocolate flames, cookie dough, fruit, and so on. You watch them mix everything in a bowl and poof! The liquid Nitrogen cloud appears and freezes everything. Truly a sight! This would certainly be something fun for the kids on a warm night. Unfortunately, for adults, I think you can do better. The concept is very cool, but the construction of the frozen treat leaves me with a lot to be desired: liquid flavors are combined with a liquid base, and although this is probably how most big box ice creams are made, there are a lot of local options in the Twin Cities that don’t feel or taste(or are) so synthetic. The whole thing seemed very artificial, which I believe stems straight from this chains big break: Shark Tank. They are always looking for how the company will cut costs– artificial flavoring is one of them. The kids behind the counter were helpful and walked us through on our first visit. The seating area inside is small, but there is a nice patio outside. Still, if you’re in the area, you gotta check it out. The idea is fantastic and it’s a lot of WOW factor for the kids. It’s a bit pricey, but as a one-time thing, you can bite the bullet.

The kids loved the show with the nitrogren. I liked that you could choose ice cream, custard, frozen yogurt or dairy free options. Lots of toppings to choose from. I thought the fruit turned out too cold.

Stopped in on a whim while visiting Chanhassen. Nice, knowledgeable staff. Gotta love food with a show! Totally customizable treats with dairy free, allergen free options. Would totally come back again! If I have to give ONE suggestion: sturdier spoons!

This place is a cool concept. It seems it was an idea that started on Shark Tank. Nitrogen frozen treats. I was immediately greeted when I walked in and was given a spiel about how things worked. The kind teenager gave me all the options, and there was a lot. I went with a the Bernoulli Brulee. This was made with vanilla ice cream, caramel, dulce de leche, cinnamon, Heath, Twix and put into a waffle cone/cup. It took about 5 – 7 min to make, but it was a cool process to watch. I feel sorry for the employees on a hot summer day. If this place was busy, the wait would not be worth it. I did like that they had options for yogurt, ice cream or non-dairy. It was about $ 8 for a small. I think this is pretty expensive considering they do not use premium, local or organic ingredients. All that said, I did enjoy the taste of my Bernoulli, but this would be a rare treat.

For someone with a dairy allergy, this was an answer to my prayers. There are little to no places that have a dairy free alternative! Thanks to Sub Zero, I can still get a frozen treat.

Nitrogen freeze drew me in, but product is terrible. Took 10 minutes to make my order. Ice cream is loaded with artificial colors and flavors. Fruit pieces were frozen to the point it made my teeth hurt. Waffle bowl was stale. Still going to drive to Sebastian Joe’s when I need an ice cream fix.
