Extremely rude sales person working there. I went to check the price on a Tamiya plastic model kit, and they were charging list price for it, which was $ 92.00. I found it on Amazon for $ 53.00 and showed it to him. I asked the sales person if he would match or lower his price. He said that he’d sell it to me for $ 70. I said that I would have to pass. $ 17 is still a big price difference. I told him I would come back to get the supplies. He told me, «Why bother?» «What?» “Why bother? Why don’t you buy everything from f****** Amazon? Then we’ll go out of business!“ Whoa! I wasn’t trying to insult the guy. And I was sincere about coming back to purchase the paint, etc., which can cost almost as much as the model kit itself. This was my second time there. I usually go to a place in Fairfax. The person that helped me then was nice and helpful. I was shocked to be treated like that. If he had brought the price down a bit closer to Amazon’s I probably would have purchased it. I don’t think I will be back after that experience.

They are the only local independent hobby shop in the area, so you probably know the deal. You can find a better selection on line. You can may be able to find find better prices on line. But that’s not why you come here. You come here when you want to flip through a new book or magazine in person. You come here when you want to go through the contents of a new release kit. You come here when you want to get advice from the staff, or chat with local modelers. You come here when you need to pick up some paint or glue or putty. You come here when you want to see if you can strike it lucky on the consignment table, or need to go to the Home Depot nearby or have lunch at Lotus Vegetarian next door. You come here when you need to remember what the local hobby shop is like.

Came in here looking at electric trains and electric train accessories. Folks were helpful and answered my questions. Note that for electric trains — they don’t accept returns.
