Last week I went to Sila Thai, it was my second trip there… and my last! I ordered a few appetizers the last of which was Chicken Satay… I do not usually, actually ever order this, but I was snacking and the amount was right. It had an odd taste, I sent it back saying it seemed maybe vinegar got into the marinade. The waitress took it back and came back and said… wait for it… SORRY, OURREFRIGERATORBROKEDOWNYESTERDAY!!! 3.5 stars! Def a decent thai place close to home– crazy cheap prices for lunch for a fair amount. Brother got a combo drunken noodle with pork and a spring roll and I tried the shrimp shumai and the shrimp fried wontons. Drunken noodles were super spicy but tasty. Shrimp shu mai is VERYSMALL! And shrimp wontons were all wrapper with one piece of shrimp as the filling. They were just okay. The spring roll was delicious though!

–UPDATE– I received a call today from Sila apologizing for what happened yesterday(below). I truly appreciated the call and am adjusting my review accordingly. They even offered to deliver the same meal again to us for free next week. Thanks for following up! –Original Post– Their atrocious customer service is the reason why Sila Thai has lost our business. Ordered lunch to my office and paid in cash, but needed change. The delivery girl says she doesn’t have change or a credit card reader. She tells me if you wanted change, you should have put that on your order form. 1. What delivery person doesn’t carry change? 2. I put our office location on the order form and you STILL couldn’t find it, so clearly that method of communication doesn’t work. My co-worker and I scrap up all the change we can find, and give her an amount that includes a small tip. The delivery girl then says, «Where’s the tip»?(Which you should just never say to the customer. I was a waitress, that’s basic customer service). We tell her again that she didn’t carry change or a card reader. She then spits out«Next time, pick up your order» and storms away. Really? You’re really blaming the customer for your own failure? Unacceptable. The only good part that came out of that interaction was how much she struggled to open the door when trying to storm away from us. Fail on fail. They’ve given us attitude before, but after today, we’re done with this place.

I used to love this place, but after my last experience, I’ve never wanted to come here again. The waitress we had was very disrespectful; she rushed us, took our menus before we even finished ordering, had a very bored and unamused look on here face when she spoke to us, and she barely said a word to us! She didn’t even bother checking on our table here and there. To me, kindness and respect is very important when it comes to how you should treat your customers… so that disappointed me very much. My pad thai was also pretty dry. I always finish my pad thai, but I guess this time something just wasn’t right about it. Also, the waitress put on the tip when clearly we weren’t a big group of people at all… They’ve never done this, so this was the first time and I was very surprised. Overall, we did not have a very fun experience here and I definitely would have taken my money to some other Thai restaurant.

Sila Thai food is apparently best when you mix two dishes together because the dishes aren’t good enough to be eaten on their own(crying emoji). I ordered beef Pad See Ew(sp?) It was ok Second dish — Panang curry. .. I guess that was okay? It still was better from the other place I had it from but we ended up having to mix the two dishes together in order to fully enjoy our food. I’ll try other Thai restaurants in the Chantilly area before I come back to Sila. I will say that I love that they still offer lunch specials on weekends(heart emoji). It’s not all bad, but it’s not all good either. I’ll have to dig deeper for the truth.

Food is awesome. Decent lunch portions. Waitress’s are friendly but sometimes have communication issues. If you dine in be prepared to not have great cellular coverage until you walk out the restaurant. For AT&T at least. They deliver, thumbs up for that.

Food is great but they need to work on sanitary. unfortunately, cockroach ran out of the paper napkin wrapped utensils and the owner/manager/serving staffs did nothing about it. OMG never going there again.

I really liked the décor of this place because it was simplistic and elegant and over all, just very clean looking. My only small complaint would be the table setting. It was just very bland, but hey, I’m there to eat, not to judge how they set up their restaurant. I guess you could say, it just wasn’t my preference. The menu was nice and extensive as it had mussels! I love mussels so I was so excited to try them! I ended up getting mussels and Chicken Satay. The satay was pretty good but I think there was just a little bit too much of the yellow sauce that they cooked the chicken in. But it was pretty good. I wouldn’t get it again though because I have had better Chicken Satay at other restaurants. I would however definitely come back for the Mussels! The mussels were really good, but I think they were a little pricey! But I really did enjoy them! My friend tried the Chicken Pad Thai and I thought the portion was huge! So that was good. The noodles tasted good and the dish wasn’t too sweet! And the chicken was cooked well! I will come back and try different items on the menu as well!

I’ve never had a bad lunch! Lunch specials boast a deal! Entrée and choice of soup or egg roll, and you can’t go wrong with either option. Egg rolls are petite and crispy and come with an excellent house made Thai Chili dipping sauce. The Tom Yum is so YUM! Or ask for a Tom Kha if you like coconut milk, the creamy version is also excellent. Today I buzzed in during a busy lunch crowd and asked if I could have the«Ginger Flavor with Pork» and requested to add eggplant. Best decision ever, this entrée is the tastiest dish I’ve ever had here, and I order here a lot! The Pad Thai and the chicken fried rice are also stellar, paired with a Thai Iced Tea, so awesome! If you’re looking for a quick bite to eat that never breaks the bank, check this place out! Worth it!

Food is good but make sure you do not get a rude waitress who considers a 2 year old as a 5th person and charges gratuity.

I ordered online(love that process) Picked up with no problem, but the product was greasy, oily and no flavor. I had Chicken Drunken Noodle. My office moved to Chantilly, so I can’t go to Busara Thai in Reston anymore… so saddddd…

Eat here regularly when I am in the area on travel. I have tried the crab topped drunken noodle, basil chicken kapow, and thai dumplings. The best thing about this place is the ability to add fresh blue crab to ANYDISH! You can also order up to 25 star spicy! The drunken noodle is simply AMAZING and tender! Ok, so maybe I intentionally drove out of my way once to eat here, and it was very worth it. I will eat here every time!

Excellent Thai food for a very reasonable price! We got the vegetarian appetizer sampler plate which was excellent for $ 6.95. This consisted of tempura vegetables, spring rolls and deep fried tofu. For the entrees we got the Thai basil tofu which comes with jasmine rice for $ 10.45 and the Pad thai vegetarian with egg, which was also $ 10.45 All the food we had was outstanding and perfect dinner portion sizes. The service was attentive, efficient and friendly. For a chance find, this was a very pleasant and memorable meal. Highly recommend!

Long story story short found a glass chip in my papaya salad. Yikes!!! I am lucky I didn’t cut myself. Management comp the dinner, much appreciated but I would think twice to come back here again. Food safety and sanitation concerns.

From décor to service in general, everything left room for improvement. It has a weird vibe, not very comfortable at all, I really wish we’d gone elsewhere when we sat down. Three of us arrived around 1, there was only 2 other tables in there at peak lunch time so that says something too. Our server was nice but the other ladies«working» were next to the bar blocking the way to the bathroom giggling and tossing things back and forth, not cool. I had the #5 off the lunch special: chicken with sweet basil sauce(kapow)**-the stars indicate spice level. this wasn’t spicy at all. It was scorching hot but once the temperature dropped to a normal level– absolutely bland and flavorless, unless you count salt. because that was the only thing I could taste. AND now I have a raging headache and that only happens when I eat large doses of MSG, so whatever the Thai equivalent to that is. there was a ton in the food. 2 stars because our server who actually did her job and not screwing around was good and the price is great– 3 lunches for $ 26. But, sorry Sila, I will not return.

Three stars for taste. Nothing tastes bad but the dishes seem a tad underseasoned. But if you have issue with that, then just ask for the spice rack and spice it up yourself. I’d prefer to be served an underseasoned dish instead of an overseasoned and salty plate(which is the case for most Asian restaurants). Five stars for price. They have excellent lunch specials here, even on the weekends(which is rare). Service is great too, they’re always prompt about refilling my water and asking if we’re okay. I’ve even come here with a large group before, and they did not hesitate in re-arranging the tables to accommodate us. Four stars overall. Not the best Thai food around but the other Thai options in the immediate vicinity taste average, at best. I’ve been here plenty of times and despite my three-star rating for taste, Sila Thai is very consistent. I recommend the pad thai and the drunken noodles.

Perhaps a little pricey for the amount of food? I don’t know, whenever I order to-go I always feel like I’m being ripped off of the amount. Except if I’m ordering like a burger or something that obviously comes in one size. I ordered the spicy chicken fried rice and tom yum soup. I actually really liked the fried rice! It had a spicyness to it that had a good kick with every bite. It also was not too oily like some other places. Would definitely recommend the fried rice. The tom yum soup was also pretty good. I loved the mushrooms and chicken in it. It was a good tartness to the soup.

2.5 Stars. Typical thai restaurant with typical décor. Service was pretty quick and friendly, but the food wasn’t the best. The curry puffs were good, but the pad see eaw was very bland and disappointing. The boat noodle soup was also very watered down and did not have the rich beef broth flavor I was expecting. The highlight to the trip was the fact that the Thai tea was only $ 2.95 with $ 1 refills! Good deal and awesome in my book because I am addicted to the stuff. Everyone deserves a second chance, so I may consider coming back some other time to try other dishes such as the curry to see if it will be a little more exciting for my taste buds. Based on other Unilocaler’s reviews, it looks like this place lacks consistency, so maybe they were just having a bad day?
