Jeffrey Nickel operates this iCracked franchise, and I have only positive things to say about both the iCracked franchise, and Mr. Nickel himself. Our family has many«iDevices», and through the years, I’ve dropped and cracked the glass on many of them. In the past, I relied on the method of submitting it to the cell carrier offered insurance, which was usually a process requiring mailing the device, and getting a different one back, and would cost $ 100 – 150 for the claim. My wife dropped my new iPhone 6 shortly after I got it, and cracked the glass. She promised to get it repaired, and saw the iCracked sign at Mr. Nickel’s location at 1028 S Santa Fe in Chanute. I went online to check out iCracked, and they had a really simple process online to submit your information. Once submitted, iCracked sent the info to Mr. Nickel, who called that same day to get some more details, give me a price quote, and schedule the appointment. Mr. Nickel is able to repair your phone either in his shop, or he will come to you. I chose to take it in to him. He’s now located across the street from the *old* Sonic Drive-In in Chanute, down the side street, in the same building as the flea market. The inside of his shop is remodeled, clean, and well-organized. The remains of cracked screens he has previously replaced line the walls – a touch that definitely makes you feel more at ease about his experience. After a thorough inspection and testing of my phone’s function, I stepped out for some errands. When I came back 45 minutes later, my iPhone 6 was as good as new. Actually, it was better – as iCracked threw in a free *glass* screen protector, which was already perfectly installed. After going through another thorough post-repair inspection and testing, I paid and was out the door. Cost: The only thing I have to compare cost-wise is the $ 100 I previously would pay to have my phone replaced through insurance, but of course that cost should include the monthly premiums I paid. My cost with iCracked was less than $ 150, which felt more than fair given that I haven’t had to pay insurance premiums, my iPhone 6 cost $ 800(purchased unlocked new), and this service was so local, quick, convenient, and I wasn’t away from my phone but an hour or so. Overall, iCracked and Mr. Nickel earned their 5-stars. His professionalism and responsiveness, both over the phone and in the shop, made the whole process easy and reassuring. I would not hesitate to go back the next time my kids or I crack a device screen(or drop it in the sink – I think they handle other repairs as well), and would recommend iCracked in Chanute to anyone.
