Didn’t care for this store at all. Aside from the kitschy knickknacks and accoutrements, the pretentious saleswomen paid me no mind as I entered the store with my daughter. No greeting whatsoever. Then, the aforementioned saleswomen proceeded to keep a close but distant watch of me in the back of the store like I was going to steal something. At that point I just didn’t feel comfortable browsing anymore. As my daughter and I were leaving, one of the saleswomen«helped» us with the door only to peek in my bag. I was so put off from the experience that I vow never to go back and give them my patronage. Update– they’ve since closed.

Bloom is a cute little florist and gift shop in Southern Village. For me the best thing about it is that almost everything is customizable. Henry mentioned the plant compositions, but you can also bring in your own urn or container and they will create a seasonal arrangement of live blooming plants within it. It’s a wonderful alternative to sending live flowers, since these arrangements can last months. The staff can also help you put together a gift hamper with the various bath and home products in the store. These services definitely aren’t cheap, but they do make very unique and elegant gifts.

Bloom is a great place to go when looking for a gift for someone that already has anything. They make custom floral gifts, that they call plant compositions, and sell a wide variety of gifts for the home and garden. I found a unique container garden for my mom here, which featured a variety of plants and flowers in one large planter. It was something different, so naturally the price tag was pretty steep, but it was great because I had never seen anything like it before. The sales people here are great at suggesting gift ideas, just provide them some information on the person your shopping for and they’ll pick out something right away.
