Love this place! I come here whenever I can to get Dolbibimbap! They have a good variety of proteins and vegetables to choose from for anyone who does or doesn’t eat meat. The portions are huge, it can be a bit pricey especially if you get the dolsot and fried egg, but it is so much food you will have enough leftovers for two meals! The place has a very clean and simple style, very laid-back and relaxing.

I don’t know a lot about Korean food, but what I have had from their food truck has ALWAYS been delicious! So nice to stop in to get take out from the restaurant for the first time! The décor is clean and understated elegant! The employees were so helpful and kind! And, of course, I had the bipimap(sp) with bulgogi, yum! Such a great experience!

Came here recently with a group of friends close to closing. Giving them 2 stars because they were nice to serve us and accommodate a group of 10(only 5 ate). Food not as advertised… seems like things have changed since they opened. New menu, more stuff — no more of the you assemble your own plate kinda thing. New food looks good in the pictures up in the wall, but actually come out pretty slimy and over-sauced. My friends’ udon looked like cooked brains and japchae(spelling?) was tasteless. The«Miso soup» that cam with my order tasted like dirty toilet water. I got the kimichi fried rice which actually was pretty good, except I was already a little put off by everything else. The biggest attraction of the night turned out to be a cockroach that was darting across the hallways that led to the bathroom(not too far from the kitchen)…yuck. Will never be back!

When my friends told me about this place, I was really excited since the food trucks are amazing; however, once I got there, I was VERYVERY disappointed. The bathroom was dirty and I found a giant cockroach in the middle of the hallway. There were flies around our table buzzing around our food. We managed to kill one but it’s definitely a no no if there are flies in the restaurant. The waiter did not even try assisting us even after I had asked them. The food also fell well below expectation. I had the spicy udon and could not finish it especially for someone who loves Asian food. The miso soup was tasteless. The side dishes felt old because they tasted sour. I don’t think I’ll ever go back and do not recommend this place until it’s cleaned up. Don’t let the scoring inside fool you. If you love Korean food and decide to eat here, I’m sure you’ll be very disappointed. You have been warned! The 1 star does no service. I would rate it –5 stars.

Although I’ve been to Mixed several times before and have enjoyed the walk-up bibimbap experience, this was my family’s second dinner outing there since they changed things to table service. We went on a Saturday evening and there was only one other family in the restaurant at the time. Not encouraging. We ordered the following items: 1. For appetizers, an order of the shrimp and calamari jeon and an order of the kimchi jeon. 2. For entrees, an order of the galbi and an order of tofu bibimbap. 3. For my 5 year old, an order of the kids chicken cutlet. Shortly after placing our orders, our server came back and informed us that they were out of the galbi with the explanation that it was a busy night on Friday. I choose to then get the bulgogi. Shortly after reordering for the galbi, another server came back and informed us that they were out of the kimchi jeon and the kids chicken cutlet. We ended up not reordering another appetizer and replaced the kids chicken cutlet with a kids bibimbap. I found it very annoying that 3 items on the menu were not available to us on a weekend evening. If you an unable to sustain a full menu for dinner throughout an entire weekend, that does not bode well for future success of table service at this restaurant. It certainly left me with a feeling of not coming back for dinner here again. Other suggestions for improvement from our dining experience: 1. The jeon was served to us at the time we received our entrees. The jeon is listed as an appetizer on the menu and should be served well before the entrees come out. 2. The bulgogi was a little salty and slightly overcooked. I wondered whether the bulgogi was the same, already-cooked meat that is used in the bibimbap and was just cooked again on a sizzling platter. 3. Kimchi! It would be great if you offered kimchi as a side to go along with your entrees. 4. Need to do something about the flies, especially at tables near windows. Possibly put fly control near the door to prevent them from entering the restaurant.

Mixed, I am Mixed up! We used to love coming for the buffet selection bimbambop bowls for dinner. Tonight we discovered it’s now really poor sit down service. And — bonus — they were missing half their ingredients, which we found out after ordering drinks. We’re out of here! Why do restaurants mess with good things. Was the switch because business was bad? If so, it can’t be improving. So sad at this experience. We used to love this place.

Just enjoyed a healthy, delicious and flavorful lunch on Monday. I opted out for tofu as my protein, and it was superb. For fast(er) food type, restaurant had a great décor. Will definitely be back!

We stopped in early on weekday evening. The ambiance is pretty spartan. Seat yourself. The server was efficient and pleasant and not at all knowledgeable about Korean food. We ordered dol sot bibimbap, bulgogi, and Korean pancakes as an appetizer. The bibimbap was quite good. Everything else was lukewarm, salty, and greasy. I gave them 3 stars on the strength of the bibimbap. If you are looking for fast food Korean, by all means, go. For real Korean, look elsewhere. I don’t think I’ll be back.

Love their dinner menu. The pork buns and wings are always my favorite to start out with. The soup has a real broth taste that reminds you of home cooked Korean food. Tried multiple dishes and I think the taste is the closest you will get to the restaurants in Korea nowadays.

I’ve enjoyed the choose-your-own toppings bibimbop for lunch a handful of times. Tonight, it was a pleasure to discover they now have a full-service dinner as well as a full dinner menu. The food is «Americanized» quite a bit, but as an Amerasian, it is a treat to have several Korean dishes offered in a quick and modern atmosphere. We ordered bulgogi & tofu bibimbop with our specialized veggies, spicy soft tofu soup, and strawberry bingsoo(dessert). Everything is priced well, and the restaurant is somewhere between an upscale Korean restaurant and a fast food place. Thank you for adding berry bingsoo to your menu, but please do me a favor. Please add mochi, ice cream, and sauce to the bingsoo. Please remove the freeze-dried marshmallows(or whatever that was). Bingsoo can be truly awesome. Our server was attentive and delightful. She had a positive attitude and was willing to accommodate a special request(half bulgogi and half tofu for one of our bibimbop bowls). Thanks for opening in Chapel Hill, and I hope you decide to open other locations throughout the Triangle.

Fast food bi bim bap. Cool idea. It will satisfy The Craving, if you know what I mean. If you’ve eaten your share of asian food, you get The Craving. You know what I’m talking about — the asian food craving. When you CRAVE a big bowl of RICE and MEAT and VEGGIES, and YOUNEEDITNOW. Mixed is certainly up to the task. But it ain’t perfect. The veggies are mostly room temp, so if you don’t get the dol sot(hot stone bowl) you are going to risk a luke warm meal. They pre-cook the fried eggs, so those are room temp too. You don’t get complimentary kim chee either.(I thought this was standard practice!) And if you get the dol sot(which i recommend), it’s $ 2 extra. Which means you are spending $ 11+ for lunch before ordering a drink. Not bad for dinner, a bit high for lunch. But again, the food was pretty good and satisfied the Craving. I’m sure I’ll be back. 3 stars.

I got the bulgogi rice bowl with white rice. I went right when it opened on a Monday to avoid the lunch crowds since I had my toddler with me. The restaurant was empty when we arrived. The customer service was very professional and polite. I would give it 5 stars. The food is 3 stars. For me, that means it was good enough to finish but not good enough to return. The beef was lukewarm even though I got there at opening so it made me wonder how long it had been sitting there. It wasn’t very tender but also wasn’t tough/grisly. It was decently marinated although I’ve had much better. I liked getting to pick all the vegetable toppings but I wish they were seasoned. All of them were bland. I tried the black sesame and miso sauces. They were okay but didn’t seem to complement the rice bowl very well. If the bowl was $ 6-$ 7, I would consider going back. But I don’t think this is worth $ 9+.

Stopped by for a quick to-go lunch of bibimbap with mixed grains and bulgogi beef… And I was super pleased with the flavor & volume: price ratio. I’ve had my share of Korean bbq, and the bulgogi didn’t disappoint. The bowl was filling and delicious, and they were not stingy on rice, mix-ins, or meat. Plus I really really like pickled carrots and radishes. I find this fast-food-style bibimbap way more appealing than a burrito, so if I lived closer to Mixed, I would definitely eat here more often! Four stars originally, but minus a star because 1) when I went at 7:30pm on a Saturday, they were out of bingsoo! It’s just shaved ice!, and 2) the building is really hard to find at night… So dark.

Got food catered from this place and it was pretty delicious! Our event was huge!(400+ people) so it was buffet style with trays and trays of food. I liked how everything was really healthy. I started building my Bibimbop bowl with white rice. Then added vegetables including julienne cucumbers and sautéed carrots, spinach, Shiitake mushrooms, green and red bell peppers, and sautéed bean sprouts. Finally, I finished building the bowl with some tofu and Miso sauce. The end result was absolutely glorious! Everything blended very well. The cucumbers were crunchy and the Shiitake mushrooms were extremely tasty. Carrots added additional crunchiness while the Miso sauce did its job and blended everything together in a way that just worked. I will definitely hit this place up if I’m ever in the neighborhood.

I came to mixed when it first opened over a year ago and I just recently rediscovered it. The menu is similar but they’ve added items and I would definitely give it 5 stars now. It’s clean, great ambiance and great for take out too. My absolute favorite is the bingsoo! Oh my goodness, this is probably the closest you can get to good bingsoo in the area. The ice itself is made with condensed milk and its the perfect texture. It comes with a little dish of redbean for those who like it.

Mixed Casual has become my go to place for easy Korean in the area. So glad I ventured out to try it; I seemed to have been disappointed by the other Asian restaurants I’ve tried on Franklin street. Must try the dol-sot bibimbap… don’t forget the egg and the spicy sauce. Definitely get the ugly wings … Surprisingly great wings that go well with whatever you’re eating. Sweet potato fries — yes. And they are great with the spicy sauce as well! Bing-soo? Finally! Not the best I’ve ever had in the states … But definitely better than what I was expecting in NC. I switched it up and got the condensed milk bingsoo with the fruit toppings. Yum!!! Skip the following until they improve: Any pancakes. I need my jeons to be a lot crispier than how they are currently being served. Sandwiches — skip these too. Go straight for the rice bowls or the jap-chae. Oh … And they need more soup than miso soup. But overall, great experience! This place is a definite must try!

This is a great concept, and I really wanted to like it. But the food is just not that good. I’ve been twice and ordered bi bim bap each time. The food is strangely greasy. Maybe they put oil in the rice. The zucchini seemed to be cooked in a lot of oil as well. Dining here is faster than eating at a sit-down Korean restaurant, and you have many options for customizing your meal, but at a sit-down restaurant you’ll get banchan and fresher, healthier food.

Ambiance: A+ Actual Korean Bibimbap: subpar The concept of this place is great. I love the idea of a Chipotle-style bibimbap place. Bibimbap is one of my favorite Korean foods because essentially what it is is eggs, rice, veggies, and meat all mixed up in a bowl with hot sauce. With that being said, I was not impressed by the quality of ingredients here. Nothing stands out as having particularly amazing taste, and when put all together, it kind of just tastes like a mélange of rice and wet vegetables. It is a little better though if you pay the extra $ 2 and get the hot stone bowl. The price for the regular bowls is also not worth the quality. The bingsoo(Korean flavored ice desert) here is pretty goo though. This is one of the only places in the area I can seem to find that serves yuzu(Japanese citrus) as a topping, which makes me extremely happy. Overall, I wasn’t impressed by the bibimbap, but I’m giving it 3 stars for the bingsoo and the decorations, which has like a modern take on a rustic vibe.

Came into Mixed today for a late lunch after having some not-so-good experiences here in the past. My first visit to Mixed was very early on, close to when they first opened, and my experience left much to be desired. I think that over the course of the past couple of years, Mixed has really updated its offerings, and my experience here today was a pleasant surprise! In the past, the only dish offered was the bibimbap, which you order Subway/Chipotle style — AKA customers go down the line, picking what type of rice, which veggies, what protein, and which sauces they want with their dish. The bibimbap that I had today was very good! I ordered mine with spicy tofu, shiitake mushrooms, sauteed zucchini, carrots, cucumbers, sauteed spinach and mixed grains rice. The spicy tofu had so much flavor and the perfect amount of spiciness — I didn’t even have to add the additional sauce since I could just mix the tofu around my dish and infuse all of the grains and veggies with its wonderful flavor. The veggies were very fresh, but my favorite part of the dish had to be the mixed grains. The grains are a combination of many different types of rice and other nutritious carbs like barley. Overall, it had a slightly sweet and delicious taste with the perfect stickiness and texture to add to my bibimbap. I really recommend getting the mixed grains with your dish — they’re really unique and taste great! Now, in addition to the bibimbap, Mixed also offers other Korean specialties. My friend wound up ordering the kimchi & pork fried rice and found it to be very tasty! There was the perfect amount of tang from the kimchi that was stir-into the dish and there were generous portions of kimchi and pork throughout the dish. The size of the entire dish was pretty large as well, making it well worth the $ 10.50 that we paid for the dish. The fried rice comes with an egg on top, which was made perfectly sunny side up with a deliciously runny yolk. The fried rice also came with a side of pickled veggies and extra kimchi, which my friend thought was unnecessary since there was already so much kimchi in the rice. Nevertheless, he thought the kimchi to be very authentic(and he’s a kimchi fanatic, so that’s saying a lot!) He really enjoyed the dish overall, and his previous negative opinion of Mixed was definitely changed after this experience. The sauces here are also super unique. You can choose from 5 – 6 different sauces, ranging from spicy to completely un-spicy. I wound up trying the Korean Chile and the White Sesame & Apple sauces today, and both were really good. The Korean Chile is Mixed’s take on the traditional Korean spicy sauce, while the White Sesame & Apple was so infused with the sesame flavor, making it super scrumptious, especially when mixed into rice. I definitely encourage you to try some of the more unique sauces here — they are made very well. There is also bingsoo at Mixed now, and the three varieties all look so good! I will have to come back here to try them. Mondays have 20% all bingsoo orders, so I will probably come back next Monday to have some delicious bingsoo! All in all, I think Mixed has improved itself over the years, and I will be back for sure! One of the better Korean restaurants in the Chapel Hill region.

I was very disappointed in this place — pricey and not even that great. Granted, Korean food tends to be pricier than other places, but the prices here were not worth the quality of the food. I ordered bibimbap in a hot bowl and added an egg(which was already an additional $ 1.50), and the dish ridiculously bland. I added some sauces into it, but the food just ended up being spicy rather than gaining flavor. There was also barely any meat in it. In short, I will not be coming back to this place, and I don’t recommend it to others.
