So I have been living here since November of 2010 and I have to say that you really get what you pay for. The place is super cheap to rent and is on a main bus route which takes you straight to downtown. 5 minutes drive and I’m on Franklin st. 30 min if you ride the bus. The staff is friendly and moderately helpful. Their service is a little hit and miss. If you call to get something fixed, don’t expect them to ever show up but if you drop a letter in their door saying what you need then they show up the next day… usually. Everytime I have needed something fixed they have. Just write a detailed friendly letter and let them know that you have a copy of the letter filed for reference to their service. Those letters usually get the quickest attention. I almost have the place looking better than when I got their since I have requested all of these fixes. Pinegate has a few pluses like the service and the price but thats about as good as it gets. The parking lots are rugged and I feel like I need a jeep to traverse them. The tennis court is locked up and even if it wasn’t it is so dilapidated I don’t think I could use it anyways. The playground is better left for another owner to renovate it because I would never take my kids there. The bugs… oh the bugs. While I don’t have problems because they spray every 3 months, my neighbors have constantly complained. The door isn’t even sealed on the bottom so that may be why so many others have issues and there is a constant draft. During the winter time I had to put a towel under the door to keep the heat in. The carpet now looks like an oil spill because of the parking lot. The bushes to my door are overgrown and scratch me every time I walk to my apartment. With all this though I really do like the place. The atmosphere is friendly and convenient and CHEAP. Great for students because of the student package! The only thing I would be wary of is them telling you they have washer and dryers to use. Most of them are out of service and the rooms they are held in are horribly maintained. The floors are nasty and unkempt and the ones that do work sometimes don’t even dry your clothes. Yes, I have had to hang my clothes throughout the house twice now because they ate up all my quarters and didn’t even dry my clothes. Also, if your doing clothes in the winter time, if you even do them there, you will have to wear layers because the rooms aren’t climate controlled. I usually just got to my friends and use his washer and dryer now. Actually I always do. IF you want to live here just make sure you are aware that you are getting what you pay for. Gladys is really friendly at the front desk and really cares. Also make sure you get an apartment with someone who doesn’t have kids above you because I had a couple living above me with 4 and all I could hear between 1 and 4 in the morning was stomping back and forth back and forth. So maybe you should try to get some older person without a heavy foot.
