The ReCYCLEry is a non-profit where bike mechanics teach anyone how to repair and maintain their own bike(they will show you how it’s done but you will do the actual work). The idea is these people can also pass along bicycle skills, and the world becomes a richer place. It is a first come, first serve operation, although you can also use the facility and resources to work on your bike by yourself. They have shared tools and parts that you can use. It is all free, but donations are always welcome. I learned about the ReCYCLEry when they came to UNC’s campus to help students tune-up and fix their bikes. I went to a Sunday session to get some more complicated work done on my bike. The mechanics running the work shop were very helpful, and sure enough I learned how to replace my brake cables and got my bike running even better. The ReCYCLEry a great community resource!
