First visit since change of ownership. Our server greeted us immediately but could not keep up with service. We had to call out for drink refills. Food was pretty good, portions were on the smaller side. We wanted to try this new establishment and we did.

Unfortunately we had a bad experience eating here last Friday night. We ordered mussels as an appetizer and it had a strange smell and was told by our waiter that they were frozen, not fresh. My husband ordered a ribeye and it came out med rare instead of medium well so he had to send it back. I ordered the filet med rare and it was actually very tasty and cooked as I had asked. The broccoli on my husband’s plate had the same awful smell as the mussels so it led me to believe that something in their freezer was contaminating the frozen food. The smell was so bad that it ruined the entire meal for us. There was only two other parties in the restaurant on a Friday night so that is an indication to me that we aren’t the only ones who have had a bad experience. Update: The owner of Ellie’s contacted me and has shown he cares about his restaurant and his customers and wants us to come back as he has corrected the problems I mentioned, I am impressed with his professionalism in his response and we will be going back to see if we have a better experience. I truly hope we do since we live close and steak is the #1 favorite food of my meat-eating husband.

We wanted steak but didn’t want to roll the dice at one of the chain’s so we tried Ellie’s. I don’t think it was as expensive as the regular steakhouse, and we all enjoyed our meal. Previous reviews mention the ambiance, and for the price I would have liked to have had a salad with the meal. Otherwise the service was excellent with an endless supply of soft drinks. We got a table without a wait on a Saturday evening, there are a few more tables than parking spaces. So don’t be concerned of you have to park in the side lot. The steaks were cooked perfectly and were very good. My son had the meatloaf, it was delicious and ample. My only advice is to go ahead and pay a few more dollars for the 8 ounce fillet if that’s what you want. The petite was petite. So of you want a good meal without the drive, Ellie’s is it.

We went to Ellie’s about 5pm on Saturday afternoon. I think we were the first ones there, although a steady stream of customers seemed to follow us. The décor leaves A LOT to be desired. They have a lot of tables in the small space, which I understand. The silverware was mismatched and kind of junky. We were promptly greeted and seated and our server was excellent. The wait for the food was reasonable and the food was excellent. I had the Steak Oscar(filet?) which is one of my favorites. It was really good. All of our meat was cooked to order, which doesn’t happen a lot, in our experience. Since we live in Chapin, we are always looking for a place to eat close to home. We will definitely be returning to Ellie’s.

Had a night off from our three your old so thought we would try something new. BIG mistake. Here’s a quick rundown of one of the worst meals I’ve ever had: Pretty sure the seared tuna came out of a can. I’m not sure what cut of meat my «filet» was. The«Oscar» portion on the filet was foamy, cold, and fake tasting crab. I ordered it medium. Came out cold and rare. The meal was $ 80(only one glass of wine), but unfortunately I wouldn’t pay $ 40 to eat there again.

This is a great restaurant right in the heart of Chapin! We ate here last week and the food and service were great. I had great ribeye steak, salad and a yummy twice baked potato. The three of us were impressed. My friends had the shrimp and grits and another had the crab cakes. Both were excellent. I loved the décor. Especially the cool light fixtures. Great food, prices and service!

This is a great restaurant right in the heart of Chapin! We ate here last weekend and the food and the service was great. I had great grilled scallops, asparagus and a yummy twice baked potato. All four of us were impressed. My friends had the fried baby catfish and another had the petite filet. Both were excellent. I loved the décor. Especially the cool light fixtures. Great food, prices and service!

Our party of six had a superb dinner experience last night. All the food, steak and seafood, was delicious. I especially liked the ribeye topped with boursin cheese and carmelized onions! The Limoncello cake was a great finish to the meal.

Ellie’s… Wow… We had dinner there the other night… excellent … I had the rack of lamb, outstanding !!!, my wife had blackened sea scallops also outstanding… Appetizers were unique and delicious… Great service, attentive waitstaff, and no «new restaurant hiccups» …This young man obviously has a wealth of experience and knowledge. Long overdue quality for this area… We will make this place a regular dining out spot sans traveling downtown…
