Gold’s Gym

The manager of this place has a terrible issue with people in general. He apparently thinks customers are his employees and speaks down to them as though they are his subordinates. If you want a positive gym experience, spend the extra gas to go somewhere else. The manager doesn’t even lift and worst, there is NO WAY to complain about him. This is the ONLY reason he still has his job. I was seriously considering suing this place after my awful experience. I had went there for almost 2 years and now I’ll never return.

I have been a member at this gym for 4 months and so far it’s great. They have a ladies only work out room that has all the weight benches you need and all kinds of other work out machines inside. I stay in that room the entire time. I have been to the gym at all different times of the day and it’s never full and that’s great! The locker room is soo clean! The employees are not meat heads thank god because that’s annoying. I do with they were open later. They close early Friday and Saturday. It’s cheap too! $ 20 a month. They also have basketball and free classes all day long and even a movie theater room where you can work out while they play a movie and that’s free too. Also it’s very big inside. From the outside it looks small but it’s big!

I have never been to a Golds gym before but since I was out here on business I signed up for a month. The treadmills were great and the group fitness classes were awesome! I especially loved the BodyAttack class. It was the most spirited, uplifting workout with pumping music and team camaraderie. Honestly, this class blew my mind as one of the best I have ever been to! I like that they have tanning beds on site.
The credit card machine had issues on several occasions when I was checking out from buying protein bars. The manager gave my male coworker a much lower rate (half the rate he charged me for the same amount of time) which I found to be a little sexist and annoying. I guess I am not the best negotiator but did not appreciate finding this out as I think it should be flat, fair rate for everyone.
Overall, I had a good experience here.

Nice gym, but doesn’t have the variety of martinsburg golds. I’d prefer martinsburg but i cant stand the collection of mismatched weights. The bathrooms are usually halfway clean. How guys can manage to miss a urinal is beyond me. The staff are 50/​50, some are friendly and will greet you at the door. Others are arrogant and condescending. Since lowering the rates there seems to be more high school kids and last week I think I saw a guy with an ankle bracelet from erj. It’s better to go in the morning if you have trouble tolerating the haughty twenty something’s. overall not bad for a West Virginia gym.

I’ve been a member of this Gold’s Gym since BEFORE the doors even opened (signed up when they were promoting the new location and just had a desk inside the front door). I got a great rate and have grown fond of many of the employees. Some… not so much. In this environment, you get the true sense of who doesn’t particularly like their job.
I’ve noticed that recently there has been equipment issues (especially in the «ladies only» section), missing clocks on the walls, and the staff seems to want to close early, even if only by five minutes, on the weekends.
I wish this location was truly open ²⁴⁄₇ or at least had longer weekend hours. I try to squeeze everything in during the daylight hours and then go workout… but they close at 8 p.m.

At the time I frequented this GG, a two year old attacked six times, biting, gouging with fingers, etc. After the first time the child attacked my son (they were doing nothing but standing beside each other), I was told he would be suspended for two weeks and if it happened again he would be «out». I was given the runaround many times as the child still showed up throughout the two weeks he was «suspended». The child attacked my son two more times as well as three to four other children.
Please beware if you bring your children to the Kids Club, as management was still allowing a child who attacks without provocation into the club.

Clean and well maintained not too crowded, basketball court and workout cinema, way nicer than the Golds I used to frequent in Waldorf. Plus excellent pleasant staff. A pleasant surprise.
⁵⁄₂₀₁₃ Update — they don’t always update their online exercise schedules accurately, and they have a tendency to leave cardio (like treadmill) machines that have problems on the floor without marking them — but I still like this club — they are just not perfect
