This is a beautiful representation of the traditional values of Charleston. Its historic importance brings a new level to the visitor experience. Each room is uniquely designed to create a one of a kind overnight experience and memory for each guest. The courtyard breathes openly with green grass, cherubs and seating to enjoy the singing of birds or a glass of wine. The staff provides a 4 star experience with breakfast served in your room daily, wine and cheese for happy hour and courtesy service all day and evening. The open community area has a quiet fireplace and guides for all activities and dining. The location is perfect. Right in the heart of the battery. As you leave the gate reminded of the power of Hugo with its remaining watermarks, you see the moment the Civil War began and one of the most beautiful parks in all of Charleston. If you catch the timing right, you will see a horse drawn carriage to complete your experience. Overall, this inn represents the tradition and values of Charleston so well.

We just finished our third stay here and enjoyed it. This is a great location in this very walkable historic district. Room 10 is adjacent to a room where noise carries through. Unfortunately we had noisy neighbors who were up very late which disturbed our sleep. The staff serving breakfast did an outstanding job and was very accommodating. We recently learned that the house containing this inn is up for sale. We will be sad to see it go if the future owners elect not to continue with the inn.

First time staying at a B&B and I wish I could say this place sold me on the experience, but it didn’t. Neighborhood was nice. Parking was no problem. But I didn’t feel like I had the experience of staying somewhere that allows you to get a personal experience of the city. Went to the happy hour when we got in on Friday night. No one else was around, although apparently a couple had grabbed drinks and left before us. So we took our drinks out to the garden where we were promptly attached by half a dozen bugs. It was August, but wow! So we went back inside. King bed was very comfy, but the room was dark. It was on the lower level. If you want to enjoy sitting outside, probably go with one of the rooms on the 2nd level overlooking the street. Breakfast was meager. It’s nice that they bring it to you and call before they show up, but the food was only passable as food. While there, I noticed an Embassy Suites and a Hampton Inn that looked pretty nice and were centrally located. I’d probably check those out instead. One more note… there is Wifi, but my computer, ipad and iphone couldn’t even detect the network from our room, which was in the front, bottom left of the property.

Location is excellent, but less than thrilled when the first story on a local Ghost tour was of our room. I would seriously re-consider staying here again, but I’d be sure to request a non haunted room, because apparently the staff thought I had requested that experience.

This was such a treat to stay here the entire week, right before my wedding. This historic bed and breakfast is very unique. It sits right along the Battery Park and is said to be the most Haunted house in Charleston. Now, I didn’t see any ghosts but my daughter had fun looking. Rooms are cozy, robes are hanging in the closet, cheese and wine in the afternoon, cookies at night, and breakfast is served on a silver tray. You have your own choice of breakfast and the time and place you would like it served. To the friendliness of staff, to the perfect location this was a stay that I will always remember.
