Food was top class, smaller portions but definitely quality over quantity. Smoked mackerel appetizer was incredible and the atmosphere gives you that touch of southern class meets Manhattan. Be careful on the drinks and appetizers though or else you will run up quite the bill. Pricey but you get what you pay for, all quality.

This place is definitely one of the classier restaurants I’ve ever been to. I made a reservation weeks in advance since BF and I were trying to go around Valentines weekend to celebrate the midway point between our birthdays. I noted that it was a birthday celebration on the reservation and each person that came to our table wished us both a happy birthday and there was even a card on the table from Charleston Grill wishing us happy birthday. The service was impeccable, drinks always stayed full. We decided to go with the sampler option because there were so many delicious looking things on the menu and the special of the night was antelope. The chef was happy to oblige us with the items on the menu we were interested in, in the sampler. What we got: bread + kitchen special(a spoonful of spicy tuna salad) Octopus(app) Crab cake with shrimp(app) Scallop w/delicious minty mushy peas Antelope w/asparagus Lamb w/aspargus dessert shot(I’m not sure what it was called, but it was fruity and delicious) German chocolate cake with coconut ice cream w/toffee and sweet roasted nuts birthday celebratory wine another dessert plate with Happy Birthday white chocolate pieces and 4 small pieces of dessert(one of which was peanut butter chocolate fudge and the other was a fruity gummy, so it was like pb&j, nom). We left soooooo full. Most of our conversation was about how delicious the food was and filled with MMMMMMMMMMMs and OMG this is SOGOOD. When the check was delivered and it was over $ 200, there were no regrets. This is not a place that I could visit on the regular($$$$ is no joke), but I would definitely suggest Charleston Grille to friends looking for a fancy dinner. (Photos here: )

My friend and I came to Charleston for the weekend, JUST to eat and Charleston Grill was our first stop! We came in on a Friday night and they had a live jazz band, providing music for the night. I believe they are there from 6:30PM — 10? Skip was our server and he was awesome. They even had one of the six sommeliers of South Carolina helping us pick out a wine to compliment our dishes. Started off with the octopus salad, crab cake and the unagi appetizer. Closed the meal off with the scallops. DEEEEEEEELICIOUS. Only wish was that I was there with more people to taste every single thing on the menu. Great environment, great people, great music. You won’t regret it. Charleston Grill, I’m coming back for ya!

If you are visiting Charleston, you MUST try this place! The décor is lovely, the waiters were so professional– they were what you should expect at fine dining but, so many places seem to lack nowadays. The food was absolutely delicious, from the appetizers to the entrees to the dessert everything was amazing!

Our first visit to Charleston was topped off by a visit to the this wonderful restaurant. It was our wedding anniversary and they made it special. The attention to detail, friendly service and excellent food made for a fantastic evening. I had the flounder with succotash and it was amazing. Light, airy and flavorful.

Husk was fully booked(guessing from all the word of mouth!) all smiles !! ;-) We were quite happy to find Charleston Grill as an excellent alternative… Charleston Grill is a refined establishment in the heart of Charleston’s historic district. The entrance is in a mini mall of upscale shops. To start, the seared fois gras oft mentioned, is sublime decadence I definitely recommend. For entrées, the Red Snapper and grilled Branzino were delicious. The crème brûlée was an excellent finale on the exquisite menu. Many interesting petit amuse bouches were served in between courses. The servers were all very charming and knowledgeable. Charleston Grill is a delectable gem on King Street.

Only one visit so far. Food is as good as other excellent restaurant in Charleston. But service is outstanding and you can feel it from every and each server.

Wow. What can I say. Great food. Great service. The menu was split between 4 sections that provided options to compliment the themes. I ordered from 3 and chose well. Food was heavenly. Edible art. Will return.

This was perhaps amongst my favorite meals ever! My fiancé(now wife) and I went to eat there while we were in Charleston visiting friends and family, and we wanted to go out for one very special sort of a meal during the trip. we looked at quite a few restaurants, including most of the«hot spots» around town, but settled on Charleston Grill as she had been there before and said that it was her favorite. The service was absolutely impeccable, in every single way! Just first-class fine-dining service. The atmosphere is very elegant, romantic, but not stuffy. The live music, piano followed by a guitar duo doing modern covers, helps keep it light. The menu is built in a curated fashion, with different elements highlighting different menu items and they are all lumped together with interesting themes… we steered clear of the a la carte items and went straight for the Tasting Menu — chef’s choice. The Chef’s Tasting has three wine pairing options depending on the quality of the glasses that you would like to enjoy, at $ 60, $ 120, and $ 240 per person respectively. I believe the Chef’s Tasting itself runs right around $ 100 per person(or something like that). We went with the mid-tier pairing and were profoundly satisfied with the pairings. The tasting menu was an absolute treat, we told our server that we really liked tartare, so our first course was a beef tartare — absolutely fresh and perfectly seasoned served with a zippy Rose Champagne… AWESOME! Each course seemed to flow and build into the next, with us enjoying fois gras(paired expertly with a fine Hungarian Tokaji), fish(California Chardonnay), a scallop with blood sausage and chorizo(paired with a BAROLO if you can believe it! Phenomenal!), and beef(California Cabernet Sauvignon)…dessert came(2 different desserts) and was paired with a Brachetto de Acqui — sublime! We lost track of time and were transported around the world in a bubble of gastronomic delight! The prices at Charleston Grill are not inexpensive, but I felt that for the quality of everything from the front door in it is well worth the prices that they are charging. It is an ultra-luxe dining experience for the price of run of the mill fine-dining, so may, in fact, be a bargain. My wife and I are big-time foodies… we LOVE food and wine, and Charleston Grill left us speechless! Please eat there; you owe it to yourself.

Precision. Unforgettable. A journey. A remarkable chef, who is sassy with her creative touch. A staff that is so attentive, knowledgeable, detail oriented, and on point with everything. I mean, everything. I can’t even begin to discuss the food journey here. I completed the 6 course tasting. Just finished the ice cream trio, and will patiently wait for a cup of Java. Then, quietly exit this fine institution, wishing that I could simply come back in three hours, and do it all over again. The Charleston Grill is classy, focused, and full of greatness. A must experience. I love you Charleston Grill. To the moon and back.

My wife and I visited Charleston for a long weekend getaway, and this being our fourth visit to Charleston(with friends this time) we’ve visited a wide range of dining establishments in the city. I won’t name them here, because putting Charleston Grill in the same sentence as any of the other restaurants in the city doesn’t seem fair. When we arrived they greeted our party by name, without us stating the name of our party. The seated us at a table that was sufficiently close to the live jazz to enjoy it greatly, but far enough away to have our own pleasant dinner conversation. I enjoyed the presentation of the menu greatly — there were four«themes» in which there were suggested appetizer, entrée, and side options. This simplified the selection of complementary choices greatly. The wine list was terrific. I have an affinity for pacific northwest wines from my time in that area of the country, and I found a plentiful selection of enjoyable options from that region. There was a tasting menu that had paired wine flights, but our table did not choose that option. The appetizers chosen at our table varied: crab cake, foie gras, baby lettuces. I chose the crab cake and it was the best I’ve ever had, time on both coasts included. Others reported that their appetizers we’re excellent as well. The breads too were very good, I tried the corn muffins and enjoyed them greatly. For entrees, two in our party chose the 22 oz ribeye and it looked delicious. I chose the Flounder which was perfectly crisp and flavorful. My wife chose the scallops which she enjoyed. For dessert we tried the carrot cake fritters — the flavor and texture were unexpected, memorable, and a delight. The chocolate lava cake was quite rich, enjoyed by all. I shouldn’t forget to mention that we were surprised to receive two special«tastes» sent to our table by the chef, an over-the-top surprise that we had not expected, but were very pleased to receive. What else can I say — after four visits to Charleston visiting numerous restaurants, none of the others are worth mentioning in the same sentence as Charleston Grill.

This restaurant exceeded our expectations! We decided to dine at the bar after having excellent cocktails prepared by Theresa, the incredible bartender. We ordered the crab cake, tomato pie and Captain’s Stew which were all outstanding. Not easy to impress, both my husband and I loved our drinks, meal and service provided by Theresa. Go here!

My first ever fine dining experience was here at the Charleston Grill and I was treated like a queen! From the second I walked in I felt taken care of. Addressed properly, seat pulled out, napkin on your lap, the whole thing. Our waiter, Bryan, did a stellar job. He is very knowledgeable regarding the menu, made great recommendations, and is friendly and easy to talk to. I am not a wine person, even though I know wine is a big selling point here, so I opted for some cocktails instead. We asked for the cocktail list and both cocktails I tried, delivered. Ask about the cucumber cocktail, it’s so refreshing in the summer! As for the food, they will explain the menu to you and how it is organized. I wasn’t very hungry when I came here so I only had appetizers, the foie gras and the crab cake(also comes in a dinner portion). We were started with bread/butter. I was not impressed with the bread here and would say that was the only negative aspect I can find. The foie gras lives up to the fame and is indeed very delicious. It practically melts in your mouth and is paired very sweetly with apple pie and crème fraîche. It was almost a dessert! The crab cake was wonderful was well. Once you cut into it, large amounts of crab meat reveals itself, no filler. It is paired with some very fresh grape tomatoes that lend itself just the right amount of sweetness and acidity to balance the decadence of the dish. My BF and I were both so full we opted not to try dessert. I was surprised to find that we were given a little dish of sweets while we finished up our drinks at the end. This was a really nice touch! This is a great place for a nice dinner. Dress up and feel fancy here!

Great wines but I’m not crazy about the menu. It’s broken down in to 4 categories and rack one has apps, entrees and dessert. It’s probably great for foodies but I’m to basic for their menu.

Eating my way through Charleston — Part 2 After dinner at Poe’s Tavern it was time to head downtown and grab something sweet before calling it a night, so we jumped in the Volvo and set the GPS for Charleston Grill. I wasn’t sure if we were going to be let in wearing street clothes so I made sure to put on some khaki’s and a button-up before heading over. When we arrived we were greeted at the main entrance by a valet and escorted straight to the Charleston Grill(which is located inside the Five-Star Rated Charleston Place Hotel). We told them when we sat that we were only there for dessert and after a quick look at the menu I decided to go with the Peach and Pistachio Baked Alaskan with Honey Roasted Peach Ice Cream, Pistachio Cake, Poached Peach, a Lavender Peach Gastrique, and Sicilian Pistachios. I was only mildly disappointed that due to «safety reasons» they weren’t able to light the Alaskan on fire at the table but after the first bite I forgot all about that. Every bite was smooth and the poached peaches paired perfectly with the honey roasted peach ice cream.

Killer wine list and knowledgeable staff in that regard. Upscale and grown-up vibe located in a hotel and next to a Gucci store. Please dress up when you come here. Lots of small plate options if you are at the bar. Octopus and the foie gras dish are highlights(although that foie gras dish, while stupendous is a bit sweet and you should probably save it for last).

Closes at 10 not 10:30 pm as indicated on Unilocal Ok, now that I cooled off, and they opened up… I had breakfast and dinner. service is great, they have Gluten-free options. The servers not only know what Gluten is, they are very attentive. The food is excellent and so is the service.

Yup the charleston Grill is as good as it gets! I have a thing for not giving five stars but this place is a five star restaurant hands down. The minute you enter the Grill you are happily greeter at the front desk. You know you are in for a pleasant experience. How many times have you not been greeted or it was an effort for the hostess or host to look up? Not happin here! The whole place screams fine dining. It’s just not about food it’s the experience. We had a drink at the bar and my wife ordered an old fashion which was the best she ever had. again the bartender was on his game and was pleasant and knowledgeable. We were seated and greeted by name by more than one staff member. Trust me the food does need need any extra explanation you’ll be amazed at whatever comes out of that kitchen. We did have crab cakes that were the best I have ever tasted. Not sure these cakes ever touched bread crumbs nothing but crab! My pet peeve has always feeling ripped off by wine prices(ok I’m cheap) but I will say the wine list has affordable choices and the wine sommelier was helpful and informative without being condescending. You knew she enjoyed her job. We had the pork chop and fillet and both were cooked to perfection. I’m betting not too many plates ever get sent back to the kitchen. The scallops are again are like no other scallop dish you have had. When I go back and if I happen to have the same waiter Bryan I let him choose what to order. everyone of his suggestions was spot on. This is a classy place in a classy location. Definitely should be on your list to visit if you are living in or visiting Charleston.

Absolutely great dining experience. The wait staff is very attentive to your needs plus they bring sampling from the kitchen as a welcome and a thank you. The food is very favorable and each side is a stand alone star. This dining experience is all about you and not turning tables like most restaurants focus on today. My wife chose the filet medallions and they will melt in your mouth, I chose the pork chop served with grits and red eye gravy, unreal! It was the first time I could not eat the whole plate. The portion size is very generous and when you think your done and your thinking about skipping dessert, don’t! The pairing of dessert wine with our crème brûlée was perfection! You will be talking about your experience at the Charleston Grill for a very long time, we highly recommend this restaurant.
