These are the boys. They have always been my go to corner store and will continue to be. Not only can you get whatever you want from a corner store but you can also get freshly made food. A win win.

Hands down, the best bacon egg and cheese I’ve had in years, probably since i left Long Island NY. I’m not talking like, antsy, foodie, artisan BEC that you’ll pay 12 dollars for, I’m talking hungover as hell, need grease, need cheese, need hot sauce, something to fill your stomach so you stop throwing up before you take a nap bacon egg and cheese of your childhood. Definitely my new go to spot for sammies.

Do you remember that Lil corner store in your neighborhood when you were just a young whipper-snapper? Well this is it, small, grungy, out of the way, just carries the essentials. But here is the difference. this place has a sandwich counter. Not just a sandwich counter, but simply the best around. I had a chicken salad sandwich, tasty and fresh. The bread could have been crispier, but not a problem. Many options too choose from, and one person dedicated to just sandwiches. They are friendly, quick service, and they even sell wine. Can it get any better? Go there, now! Frank G

Charlie’s has some of the best sandwiches in town. It reminds me of the best delis up north. Highly recommend the italian hoagie and philly cheesesteak.

What the heck. How is it that a little convenience store has the best falafel in chas?! Amazing. While the pita itself was soggy and fell apart immediately, the Israeli salad was fresh light and delicious and the falafels themselves were superb. Service was prompt and friendly. My fiancé got an Italian sub which was also great.

If there is falafel I’m going! That’s my general philosophy, and glad I tried this small family owned and run grocery/convenience store that also sells both hot and cold freshly made sandwiches. The falafel is made using an old family recipe with the perfect blend of spices and topped with a blend of tomatoes, cucumbers, onions and an authentic tahini sauce. Move over taziki sauce because tahini is way better! Off street parking and carry out is a good option considering the space. Conveniently located for college kids or those commuting downtown, the brothers you will likely find taking pride in running the store will greet you with a warm welcome that is sure to make you want to return and support the small local business.

Dank. Period. I like it because it reminds me of a deli you’d find up north. Classic options, fresh ingredients. Refreshing change from all the fancy pants lunch spots downtown, jah knoww?

I dig this corner spot, for several reasons: 1. I live less than 1 block from the Jasper Street location, and am in the store at a minimum of 4 times weekly. 2. The brothers that work here are ALWAYS friendly, funny, and nice. 3. The falafel is really, really good — in the pita sandwich or just on its own(which they’ll do, in whatever amount, fried or unprepared, by request). It’s a family recipe, and they’re quite proud of it. Apparently they are discussing selling their falafel at the farmers’ market in the future. Misc. household items are expensive here at times — it may be worth the wait until the next time you can hit the grocery store when it comes to sauce/toiletries/etc.

Charlie’s is the greatest local eatery I’ve ever been to. From the outside, it seems like a run of the mill corner store, but once you’ve tried it, it becomes a world class sandwich emporium. I’ve never had a better turkey sandwich. The fellas working there are really wonderful and sweet. They will hook you up with some miraculous eats. I’d been working outside all day when I came in, and I was tired and hungry, and that sandwich was the best medicine for a long day I’d ever come accross. MMMMMM! Every time I’m in the area they patch me up. Charlie’s is the epitome of downtown college life. If you don’t eat Charlie’s, then you’re not doing it right.

I’ve never walked through the door without receiving a firm handshake. The guys that keep this place thriving are great. Hands down — best sandwiches in the area for the price. Pat, the chef, not only uses fresh Boars Head deli meat, as well as his passed down family recipe for his sauce and meatballs — but also says hello with a smile and is quick to share a joke — the dudes a real pleasure to hang out with while you wait for your sandwich! The brothers behind the counter are also great, always quick to answer questions and give you a hand. Best place in Radcliffeborough for your necessities.

omg. sooooo fresh, so good. Its so hard to find good falafel. As many places here that we have dedicated to Pitas alone… I know its hard to believe. This place is just just a little corner grocery. You will pass it in the blink of an eye and not even realize it. Its a family operation and every one is super nice. They are quite proud of their falafel, take great pride in it with good reason. I will be coming back for years to come.

Charlie’s can sustain the basic needs of a college co-ed but it can also satiate the need for falafel far past grad school. Most people drive by without a clue this gem is there but I have seen a line out of the door. It is family run with father and children all partaking in the labor. And they are all really nice. I utilized Charlie’s for close to 5 years, when I lived in the neighborhood. Need a cold pop on a hot summer day? They have the coldest. For some reason, need a pickled egg? You will not be disappointed. From frozen goods to first aid supplies, they probably have what you need. It seems that a few people now know about the counter in the back where they will whip you up a killer cold cut(Boar’s Head) or veggie sandwich. The falafel, when they have it, is the best. Crispy and piping-hot homemade orbs of chickpea and herb goodness, wedged into a soft pita with yogurt and Sriracha.. . this sandwich is perfection.

The falafel phenomenon. Get it with hummus and hot sauce. It will blow your mind. How awesome to have this great place to pickup international fare with your PBR! Delicious. Also, there is charming banter while your falafel forms!

Shockingly the best falafel I’ve had in a long time. Who would have thought! It was super fresh and it was very filling for just $ 6. Friendly staff too. I definitely recommend trying it.

I would not have went in here for food but I trusted my husband. I had never had Falafel before but it was wonderful. It is a hole in the wall so if you don’t like that kind of thing, don’t go but I will be back! P.S — No where to sit, you need to get it to go

Never had Falafel before, but this was really good. I still not even sure that I exactly ate, but I liked it. It wasn’t too pricey, which is good too. This place is your quintessential hole in the wall café/grocery store. It doesn’t look like much on the outside or the inside, but really, it’s the food and people that count. Both were outstanding and we will definitely be back.
