Be still my hippie heart, Earthbound Trading Company, I think I love you! There are so many awesome alternative things here in a town that seems like such a preppy mecca. It was refreshing to walk into a store with such character! They have a wide array of dresses, skirts, peasant tops, jewelry, headbands, masks, dream-catchers, yoga gear and other various trinkets I could have spent a great deal more time playing with in here than I did. I especially loved the sugar skull masks they had in the back and the various flower crowns they had on the«festival» table. I found some really great and very unique pieces here. I will make this a must stop in Charleston next time I am here, for sure!

Went here for Second Sunday today. They have neat trinkets, but two stars is all I can give after witnessing the classless sales staff turn away a little girl from using their restroom. Telling her mother it’s only for employees. Her mom & grandmother looked like«paying customers» — They had already placed items on the table. I am glad they walked out. I did too.

I don’t go shopping downtown Charleston all that much, but when I do happen to be down there, I love stopping into Earthbound Trading. I’ve purchased a number of cool jewelry item here as well as gifts for some people. It carries a wide variety of things from clothing, jewelry, home decorations, etc. It is definitely has a global, new-agey, whimsical kind of vibe to it. Although it is a chain store with many of them around the country, there aren’t so many that its a household name and there is no online availability so if you like something in the store, you’d better buy it. Most everything is relatively inexpensive as well. It is right near Urban Outfitters, so if you come out of UO with some sticker shock, head into Earthbound Trading and pick up a cook trinket, gift or souvenir.

This shop is what it’s name states… Earth bound. fun items that remind me of headshops of a by gone era… love to look… and love the funky finds… Must give kudo’s to the young woman who waited on us… she went way beyond the norm to listen… share…and care… she also recommended a place to eat that was spot on! Will come back, for her service… and the funky down to earth goodies…

It’s hard traveling with teens who do not like to shop and do not like shopping at chain stores. In Charleston last summer when we visited, this was my daughters’ favorite store. They loved the masks, the jewelry, the ethnic odd stuff and the general vibe. Again this year, this was their favorite shopping place. It’s very much worth a visit if you like unusual imported things!
