Some of the worst customer service I’ve ever experienced. I go in to get a key cut and the guy up front tells me to go to the back counter because they didn’t have the key that I needed up there. The guy who was suppose to be working the back counter tells me that I need to go up front because nobody up there is doing anything. He said, «I’m actually doing something, look at all those guys up front. They aren’t doing nothing! I’m actually working!» I should have just walked out then but I go back up front and tell them what their shitty employee said and instead of jumping back there to help me out. They tell me to go to another store. I had multiply items to buy there today but I walked out empty handed after this awful experience. This isn’t the first time that I’ve had terrible customer service here but it is certainly going to be the last. I will never go back here again.

As a small general contracting firm, we have been clients and friends of Hughes Lumber & The Burn family for close to 25 years. We truly appreciate the personal level of service that we get from everyone at Hughes. We highly recommend them for all of your lumber and hardware needs.

A family run operation since 1888, Hughes is a full service hardware and lumber store located smack in the middle of the downtown Charleston. The folks there are knowledgeable and more than willing to help you out if you have questions; they even load your lumber for you. If you’re planning on a weekend project around your house, make sure to get there before 2pm on Saturday as they close up early and don’t re-open until Monday.
