Charleston is one of my favorite cities to visit. When I go there I love to shop at this little store down by the water called Indigo. It is a great store, filled with wonderful things for everyone. However, when I was last there, they had this wonderful line of handcrafted reclaimed steel drum animals… I had to purchase one and it is displayed prominently in my bedroom. They have something for everyone there, and the perfect place to get a gift, especially if you want something much nice than the typical souvenir from SC. Many of their items are handcrafted and one of a kind!

Eclectic mix of books clothing gifts air plants home décor nick nacks and more. Friendly staff. Prices on par with other shops. Would certainly buy here rather than charleston market. If you live out of town they will ship large items without charging sales tax as well.

A gem of a gift shop! It’s a pretty perfect combination of artsy, funky, and cute. The shop owner is a sweetheart. She is so helpful, gave great suggestions and has great taste. The merchandising was impressive and unique! A must stop on your visit to downtown Charleston!

This is a one of a kind store, when your eyes become glazed from the sweetgrass baskets and kitsch at the Market, stop in here for some very unique items! My friend and I spend a good hour plus, maybe two, browsing and trying on clothes(so many unique fabrics/designs!!) I bought a dress and top, along with birthday cards, and a coaster. There is a children’s section, handcrafted items, etc. Each section of the store is worth the time spent, the items are all selected with care, it’s not just a random scattering of stuff. The young lady at the counter was super helpful and friendly and knew about the different items,(«the owner’s friend makes those, we just got those in, those shirts run small») and she was helpful in bringing out different sizes of the clothes(unlike other smaller stores, this one has the items on the racks in different sizes, more likely you will find something in your size). Great place and I can’t wait to wear my unique dress this fall, and shirt next summer and tell everyone I got them in Charleston when they compliment me on them haha!

Great little store! So many interesting items… from socks and jewelry to books, clothes and cards. If you’re looking for a trinket to take home from your visit to Charleston, this is definitely the store to visit:-)

If you need something for the neighbor watching your dog, a unique gift for a best friend, or something for that person that already has everything but you still need to give them a gift, Indigo is the place to shop. It’s the least touristy gift shop I’ve ever seen, and every turn leads to new art, small handcrafted pieces, jewelry, t-shirts, and stuff that you didn’t know existed but you need to survive. You’ll find unique one of a kind gifts. And you’ll be supporting local artists. Cool, right?!

Way better than the other Charleston gift shops. This is one of those local art shops that fits in with the Pinterest and Etsy crowd. They have shelves made from old barn doors and yard sticks. They have Jellycat stuffed animals of all types. They had kid books by Taro Gomi for the budding artist. They have a few other various kid books that I think my daughter will enjoy in 2 – 5 years. Prices weren’t too bad either. Along with cool kids items, they had clothing accesories for mainly women and other random art pieces to decorate one’s home with. This is one of those places that I think they have great ideas of stuff I should try if I was a little more crafty(but I am not). Great stop as it sits beside Belgian Gelatto and Waterfront Park.

A unique little shop with whimsical art deco items to accent your home. Many are metal pieces created by the owners in the form of fish and other water loving creatures. Hard to describe it as a home accessories shop because they have a little bit of everything. However, I found it to be a very cool place to find something different to commemorate our 2012 visit to Charleston.
