I think the shop is crazy adorable. Very girly. For me, from the outside the whole look of the store is so enticing. And then when you get in, I guess I was a little disappointed. Some stuff is cute but for the most part it’s overpriced for what it is. The girls working were friendly and I did end up leaving with a couple of items, one being a pinky ring I’m in love with but for the most part, not much grabbed me. I will say if you’re the type of girl who likes all things monogrammed, this is probably right up your alley.

I was in Charleston on King Street in full shopping mode the last weekend in July. I had heard of M&L, but had never been in the store. I walked in expecting to be greeted, as all King Street merchants do, and I was met with silence. Really! The two chicks behind the desk could not have been any less interested in my presence. I circled the store — quite underwhelmed with the merchandise on hand — and then left. Again, to silence. I didn’t think I was invisible, but I was treated as if I were. Guess what, my money will be invisible to M&L. If you can’t even say hello, then I won’t bother spending my money at your shop. Goodbye, good riddance!

Talk about an adorable, über-girly, brightly colored shop! Seriously, if you were in a bad mood and walked into Moon & Lola, I guarantee it’d be hard to stay sour. Upon entering, you’re greeted with high ceilings, crisp white walls, a circular setee upholstered in bright pink, and wall shelves displaying incredibly eye-catching jewelry. The layout is clearly purposefully planned, with thorough attention to detail and a minimalistic venue design that really allows the product to pop. From monogrammed necklaces to neon acrylic earrings to pearls to layered chain bracelets, the inventory is incredible. I’m thinking bridesmaid gifts, anniversary presents, and«just because». Really, I wanted everything in the shop. But, since I don’t have an unlimited supply of funds, I restrained myself and only went with one gold tribal-inspired necklace. The sales associate who helped me was bubbly, super sweet, and fashionable — definitely an ideal spokesperson for the image it seems the shop is trying to portray. Thumbs up all the way. Moon and Lola products are carried in boutiques all over, as well as Saks, Neimans, and Nordstrom, but this is the first M & L shop I’ve seen. It opened in August so it’s new to the Charleston scene and I’m just a tad jealous that I don’t live in town. I’ll definitely be perusing their website often, and if I make it back down to Chucktown, I’ll absolutely be popping back in for some accessories.
