Plantation Oaks Apartments

We just moved in here about a month ago, as of right now we like it! We have had a few issues in our apartment, but the staff have made sure for the most part to have it taken care of immediately. The layout of the apartment is spacious and homey.

This is a great place to live. We love the carwash/​dog bath station and the car vacuum. The leasing staff is friendly and efficient and will always take care of any concerns promptly. Great location, close to Food Lion and Wal Mart which makes it really easy for someone that just moved from Maryland to get set up!

The complex itself looks beautiful! But the apartments are too outdated with the mold issues. After every rain you can see the rainbow truck taking out the water from the different apartments which are on the first floor. We had the same situation many times. It’s a nightmare! You can’t stay in the living room or go safely to the kitchen for a week. And the smell… And the humidity. It looks like a safe place to live. But It’s not. There was an armed robbery on a parking lot several months ago. The tow truck can easily take your car. and then you should pay 200 $ to take it back. Also the people at office look very friendly at first! But when you are no longer live fin the The plantation oaks be ready to receive a letter with no deposit inside. But a letter informing you-​that you owe them money. Like for painting the walls, changing carpet, cleaning… Even though you used a primer yourself on the walls to hide some normal tear and wear for living there for 2 years. Even though you have a 3000 $ rainbow vacuum cleaner that cleans the carpet very good. Or that you cleaned the apartment before you returned the keys. They charged us 670 $.

At first the apartments & the complex looks awesome. They re-​did the pool deck so that’s sweet (even though they renovated during swimming months!). The apartments also come with a washer/​dryer which is awesome for the price. However, what I didn’t expect for the price was the near Home Owners Association mentality. Within the first few months of living there, we had gotten multiple notices saying we couldn’t have certain things in certain places. For instance, we kept our recycling on the porch and they referred to it as trash and threatened to charge us to have it cleaned up. We also put a curtain on the sliding glass door and apparently it wasn’t allowed to be there because all porches had to be uniform (even though upon a drive around the complex, none of them are). We also got notices about our blinds & the fact that they had to be uniform height & the windows had to have them even though we didn’t use them.
Before we moved out, we went to the office to talk about the probable replacement of the carpet in our living room. We were quoted a price if that were the case, and ensured the other rooms would be fine. Upon actually moving out, the manager told me that they would have to replace the ENTIRE apartment for three times what we were quoted because they no longer carried the same color carpet. They wouldn’t allow me to find matching carpet, or get another company to install it (at my own payment of course).
They also don’t understand the concept of a «pet deposit». It is non-​refundable, ok, but when we were charged damages when we moved out, they couldn’t tell me why the pet deposit wouldn’t be used to pay for the pet damages we were being charged. The manager would only say it was to cover damages the community may get from having a pet. When I asked why paying the pet damages in my apartment wasn’t under that category, I couldn’t get a clear answer.
If you have a pet, kid, or unruly friend DO NOT LIVE HERE. Or if you don’t like being told what to do (when it doesn’t say anything about it in the lease) stay away.

Its hard to say. Every time I’ve been they really make it seem like a good deal. Hot tub, washer & dryers, suite for your family to stay for cheap while they visit. Friendly staff. They have been full every time I have thought about renting, so i don’t have any inside experience but from the outside it seems great. Beautiful grounds, ponds with fountains, old Spanish style architecture. Not too expensive. Check it out!

My very first residence in Charleston :) So far, so good! It is slightly outdated, but nothing too jank or old school going on. As far as I can tell, the staff is very friendly too! It’s only been a full week at this point but the neighborhood is nice, quiet, friendly, and fun (pool, hot tub, tennis court, grills). I would definitely say it’s recommendable!
