It’s no secret that I have a big crush on the food truck scene here in Charleston. Watching it grow has been a hobby of mine, and I love that I’ve gotten to know a number of the vendors personally. Friends, food, and trucks. What could be better? Well, hang on to your hats, kids, there’s a new truck in town. And this one’s upped the ante, keeping the happiness vibe, but won’t pack on the calories if you indulge. Meet Roadside Blooms, a funky flower truck, bringing the Charleston area beautiful blooms, locally sourced, at really reasonable prices. The truck is around a lot of places. I’ve found it at the Medway Park Sunday Brunch Farmer’s Market, and seen their flowers at local establishments like Muddy Waters on Maybank. You can follow them on Facebook to find where the brown beauty(a former British ice cream truck) is camped, or order online(with delivery). So how it works at truckside is you pick the size bouquet you want(small $ 10; medium $ 20. large $ 30) and how you want to receive it(your own vase or wrapped in newspaper, or, for a nominal fee, an appropriately sized container for your blooms.) Every bouquet I’ve seen from the truck has been fresh, pretty, and a step beyond ordinary. I’ve got a pretty one setting on my counter now, and it makes me smile, and brought a touch of this beautiful May day inside. Many thanks to husband-and-wife team Toni Reale and Adam MacConnell for helping good quality, locally based business to blossom.
