One of my favorite restaurants in West Ashley. The weekend lunch buffet is a must! I prefer the lunch buffet because there are just so many delicious and flavorful options to choose from(and you can have it all). I’ve been coming here for a few years now, and the quality is still as great as when I first started going. Comparing here to Nirlep, I’d choose here. The owners are also very sweet!

We’ve been going to Taste of India for a while. Usually we enjoy the food, can’t say anything nice about the décor so I won’t say anything at all. We went back again last week it was unexpectedly AWFUL. Maybe their chef left for other location? Lunch buffet consisted of all vegetarian dishes but for one chicken dish. It had as much flavor as my grandmother’s nursing home fair, and look just as appetising. The décor… bathroom looked cleaner than the dinning room and it smelled fresher. We’re not going back. Time to give Narlep a try.

Awesome awesome. Friendly staff great Indian food. The best in the Charleston area & I think I’ve done them all. We had Lamb & vegetable samosa’s. They were huge! We had Lamb Saag & Chicken Curry along with basmati rice & garlic naan. Heaven. Freshly cooked & lots of food. It really was delicious. This location is closing in Tuesday though & they are moving to Sam Rittenberg blv. Apparently the restaurant is already open there. Tried to encourage them to open a restaurant in Mount Pleasant. If you live Indian Food you have to try this restaurant. The best.

The food here is fantastic!!! I have eaten here several times and I have never had a bad experience. We love everything we have ever tried. Our go to is the Chicken Tikka Masala Medium spicy– it has amazing flavor! I’ve lived in London and NYC where there are so many good India restaurants and Taste of India never disappoints when I’m craving a curry.

Ambience is good. Service is good but food delivery after order was bit delayed. We ordered Kadai Paneer with a Naan and Roti. Curry tasted really awesome. But the quantity was too little to our surprise. Well visit again though. Prices are reasonable.

Food was good, not amazing but the service was awful! Two of us shared an app, a veggie entrée and naan. By their attitude, the entire wait staff(3) was seriously bothered by the fact we shared one entrée and only drank water. We were ignored and basically laughed at when we said we were done and wanted our check. The young girl was even audacious enough to ask if we wanted two checks(we didn’t) then laugh. I wouldn’t want to support a business that’s so rude.

Malai Kofta. Win. This place is great. Inconsistent at times but if you like Indian then this is what you want. Their buffet can be pretty awesome as well. Especially for the price. We drive 35 minutes once every couple weeks to get our fix. If they were in MtP we’d be there every other day(gotta moderate, ya know?)

I recently visited this location of Taste of India(I believe there is one that opened on Sam Rittenberg Blvd recently) with my friends on a weekday lunch. I was nervous because I’d always gone to Nirlep. Here are the differences in my opinion: Taste of India has better service(more friendly), a nicer atmosphere(looks cleaner/newer), gulab jamun for their lunch buffet, and garlic on their naan for their lunch buffet. BUT, they have less variety for their lunch buffet. I also think that Nirlep does chicken tikki masala a bit better, but that may just be a personal taste preference. Nirlep’s chicken tikki masala is a bit creamier, and I like that. I also like that Nirlep has samosas for their lunch buffet, but I hate that Nirlep doesn’t have gulab jamun or garlic naan for their lunch buffet! So to conclude, if you’re bringing a friend or a date to try Indian food for the first time and you know they’re okay with hole in the wall atmospheres, go to Nirlep. They taste better and have more variety. If you’re with or ARE someone that will get really put off by a crappy atmosphere and less than amiable service, go to Taste of India. I believe Taste of India is also a tiny bit cheaper for the lunch buffet, but maybe only by $ 1 if I remember correctly? Hope this helped y’all!

Dark and dreary is the atmosphere. Slow service. Was pretty much dead on a Saturday at dinner time. We tried both chicken and veggie dishes both were extremely bland. The«spicy» dish had some heat but zero seasoning or flavor. Even the raita was bland. Won’t be back and don’t recommend. Hopefully Charleston has better Indian than this to offer.

Dinner was delicious. All of our entrees were awesome. Samosas were great! I gave four stars because of some uneven seasoning on pakoras. Otherwise, our entire meal was on point. We ordered different levels of spice and they all came as ordered. Our son’s was ordered mild and was full of flavor without too much heat. The service was courteous, friendly, and efficient.

Came here on a Saturday and had the lunchtime buffet. Place was busy, food was one of the best I’ve tasted in the area and best of all the restaurant seemed sanitary.

Consistently great Indian food. My girlfriend loves this place as they serve some dishes that remind her of her time in Southern India where the food is a little spicier. The young man waiter is excellent and can answer any question you have about the menu. I love the Mixed Tandoori! Had it the first time at a Sunday buffet. Go on a Sunday and try lots of things to find your favorite. I have also tried Nirlep, Bollywood, and Bombay. This is far and away my number 1.

Recommended by a friend after a long drive into town for work, I decided to give it a try. Very glad I did. I called in my order, and within 15 minutes it was ready and waiting for me. I decided to go with everyone’s recommendation of the chicken tikka masala and I was extremely happy! I would have liked more rice with the amount of tikka masala they gave you, but I have absolutely no complaints about the meal! There was plenty of food for two meals. I will definitely be back again the next time I’m in town!

Was our waiter loaded with Lithium or some other psychotropic agent? Don’t know but he sure was spaced out and had a flat affect. Food was tasty but not worth the wait quite frankly. There is another just across the HWY and they have servers who actually move their facial muscles a bit. Food is of equal quality. Service is faster out of the kitchen.

I’ve tried the few Indian restaurants in area, and this was definitely the best. The first time I went in and got take out, I was a bit put off. But, I went recently for the lunch buffet and had a pretty nice experience. The food was really tasty. My grandpa couldn’t stop raving about how tender the chicken was. Service was minimal but it was a buffet, so no complaints there. The restaurant itself is pretty small but wasn’t unpleasant.

The buffet is amazing, and the food is very legit. It’s not«touristy» at all, and it’s very popular with the Indian community. Their yogurt curry is incredibly rich, and they have a coconut chutney I’ve not had elsewhere. The staff it’s friendly and helpful, and made sure the steamers were full of whatever we wanted to eat. Also, cardamom spiced iced tea. You HAVE to try it!

The food and personal service here is always very good but seldomly to they get the order right. I always place to-go orders to keep the smell of indian food from saturating my clothes but its either the speed at which they write down my order or how quickly they get me off the phone that’s responsible for inaccuracy. The lunch buffet is a good value and the food is always fresh.
