Today was my «Treat Yo’self» day… and I was not disappointed with my first straight razor shave with the royal treatment(this included both head and face) Rashun is an excellent barber and explained everything as he went along making this experience a good one. If you are looking for an expert shave and a way to escape the stresses of life for a brief time I definitely would recommend a visit to the Art of Shaving.

Awesome place, great customers service! On top of the normal hospitality they insisted on walking to my car and paying for my parking while I was getting a haircut!

I purchased a Royal Shave for my significant other yesterday, Oct. 10, 2015 at noon for his birthday. Upon entering the store, the manager greeted us wearing blue jeans, disheveled hair of which she admitted that she didn’t «have time to do» because she was running late. She asked if we were the noon appointment. I said we were and she told, Wes who was receiving the service, to go on into the room. I left the store for another birthday errand. When I returned to the store, one of the associates informed me that Wes had been«cut.» Not only was he cut(approximately 1 centimeter in length) on his philtrum, he was also nicked on his Adam’s apple. I have pictures of the cut on his philtrum. Wes also informed me that the barber had his girlfriend in the room and chatting with her while he was receiving the service. She left after the barber cut Wes’ philtrum. The sales associate told me that I had two options: either get my money back for the service OR have a shave kit which he informed me «was a $ 90 value.» I told him that it was up to Wes since he was the one to receive the injury. I do wonder why both were not offered. Wes completed the service because half his face was unshaven when the incidents occurred. Wes decided for me to get my money back. He also encouraged me to file the complaint with the BBB because he said it was the worst shave and service he’s had. Wes also informed me that the manager had what appeared to be a meeting in the store with the sales associates and spoke loudly complaining about their work. Wes could hear this being in the room while receiving the shave. Wes said he bled a decent amount and the barber threw the cloth towel somewhere but did not see. I hope there are practices to ensure public safety from exposure of bodily fluids for both customers and employees.

I’m sorry I expected much better for a $ 40.00 haircut, I’ve experience better for half that. I’ve been to Gents($ 35), Old South($ 40ish) and Broad Street Barber Shop($ 17). Gents used to be the best for me but the person that cut my hair left and I am in search of a new location. At the Art of Shaving I was not offered a Shampoo, my neck was not shaved, my sideburns were not trimmed, did not get a hot towel and there was not any product put into my hair. Not that I’m a Master barber but all he used was a pair of clippers with a height guide and a razor thinning comb all in less than 15 minutes. Every Barber shop I have ever gone to shaved my neck. It really seems strange to me that I went to the Art of Shaving for a high end haircut and did not get my neck or sideburns shaved? PS– Ryan is not there anymore, Stephen is.

Fantastic service! Wasn’t sure what to expect when going into here, but was immediately helped by «Ian» who gave an excellent demo and helped my husband pick out a badger brush, stand, and other shaving accoutrements that we never dreamed we would leave with, but are so excited about! And the best part is, they fed-ex refills so you will never be without again!

I take shaving & my haircuts very seriously. So does Ryan, my new barber at The Art Of Shaving. The Royal Straight razor shave is more than an acceptable way of having a spa experience without a loss of manliness. Indeed, my testosterone boosted 20% despite the rose water spritz that felt like kisses from 1,000 fairies.

Brand new location on King street. I had a straight razor shave and really enjoyed it. The guy was very nice and knew what he was doing. Everyone there was very nice and helpful.

I enjoy a fine shave. When I’m not growing a manly beard I’m using a double edged safety razor and badger bristle brush to tackle my daily shaving ritual. I love that old school flair and attention to detail that modern style shaves mostly lack. Needless to say, I was quite excited about The Art Of Shaving opening on King Street downtown. The interior design of the store is simple, sleek, and sophisticated. It’s decked out in wood and leatherwork giving it an all around manly feel. The associate working was eager to provide a demo of the products. Although I was already familiar with everything he was telling and showing me, it was an enjoyable experience because he was so excited and knowledgeable about the Art Of Shaving. As for the products. If you’ve ever used them they speak for themselves. Quality ingredients and fantastic scents that make shaving a pleasure rather than a chore. They have your double edge safety razor, straight razor, and modern razor(with a classier twist) needs covered. There are kits available ranging from«starter» for getting a good feel for the goods to «full» that provide about six months of shaving fuel for the already established members of the Brotherhood of Shaving. I left quite satisfied with my visit. I took home a fine 100% silvertip badger bristle brush and the sandalwood shaving cream accompanied by the pre-shave gel and aftershave. I have already been putting it all to good use and have been loving every minute of it. If you enjoy a damn fine shave in the comfort of your own home you should stop by The Art Of Shaving and get some goodies that’ll make it that much better!
