As a review of the venue and not the productions, Id have to say this place is pretty ok. The theater is small and intimate with some cool history, but something not so cool yet obviously historic are the seats. Not the most uncomfortable things Ive sat in, but for a show that can be a couple hours, youd think they would make sure youre somewhat comfortable. The layout of the lobby is difficult to understand at all. The«bar» window is directly in front of the ladies room door and you never know exactly what line youre in! When the theater empties into the lobby its a crush of people and very difficult to move around or even find room to put your coat back on. The highlights of the venue are the great shows they put on and the beautiful Philadelphia Alley they are next to.

I love everything about Queen street, so I undoubtedly was going to love the theater. My first time here, I checked out Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, a shtick-y comedy – well you know the 80’s hit with Steve Martin, and had a great time! An old renovated warehouse with character and –story. I could have sworn people were just as fat back in the day, but nah.lol. The seats are a little slim, so you will be sitting shoulder to shoulder, but there is plenty leg room. So broader folks alike, get those end seats when you check out a show here! The area, the theater, the show… definitely a must visit for travelers and locals alike. Look forward to seeing future productions here.

This is such a great theatre! It’s been around for years and I’ve never been disappointed when visiting to see a show.

This is a nice little theater and the performances we’ve been to have all been good. It’s not Broadway and it’s not even the Dock Street theater, so manage your expectations and you’ll have a good time. Tickets are always around $ 22. Seats are comfy with good leg room. The stage seems a bit elevated to me, so I’d opt for further back seats than too near the front. They sell soft drinks wine and beer there and it’s cool to bring it into the seating area during the performances. Fun little place — we’ll be back.

The Footlight production of Camelot at the Dock Street Theater left a lot to be desired. It was like watching a high school play. Although there were some nice voices, the acting was wooden for the most part.

Had the misfortune of attending a comedy show at this theater during the Charleston Comedy Festival in January 2012. The show was great… TJ Miller is pretty funny. However the venue was terrible. Very disorganized. Very rude staff and«volunteers». Poorly planned and executed movement of patrons from one show to another. Why in the world would you require a person to print their tickets for the show at home and then when they arrive at the theater force them to wade through a completely disorganized mob of people in order to go to the box office window to receive another ticket? Because of our treatment at this venue, we will never attend another show at the Footlight Players Theater. If you value your sanity, I suggest you avoid this place too.

We have seen several productions at the Footlight Players. It’s a great venue. The staff is kind and nice. The place is clean and they have wonderful plays and shows there. It’s not a big place. In fact, it seems to be just the right size. A must do for locals.
