Finally, reasonably priced and delicious tamales! If you aren’t sure what a tamale is, how to eat it, or why people love them so much, this is the place in Charleston to get educated while you fill up. Devin the bartender was a great guide– black eyed pea nachos… delicious! This is my new spot, no doubt about it.

This place is awful. There is no way they would survive in any region of the country where tacos aren’t a novelty. Absolutely atrocious food. Stay away at all costs. Also, salsa costs extra. That’s not a joke. You can order thirty tacos and they will provide you no salsa. Not even a joke. That’s a real thing these yokels do.

Came here for lunch because I had read an article about tamales and I am a big fan or «home» made tamales. However, those are only served next door during the evening. So, I tried a couple of their tacos. They were well flavored and I really enjoyed the two I had. Two were perfect for lunch, but unfortunately there was no seating in the area. I had to go back to my car to eat, or I would have had to travel back to work.

I was impressed, yummy tacos and burritos. The chips and guacamole were awesome too. Definitely a great place to satisfy your taco craving. The burrito was huge and the tacos are the perfect size.

Pricy tacos, good quesadillas. For $ 3 you get a couple bites. Order 3 or 6 to fill up. They’re basically street taco size so they should be $ 2. Gluten free menu online although some of the staff didnt know what I was walking about so plan ahead on their website. No gluten reaction to the food. Order the steak, as the chicken is dry.

Today, my coworkers and I ordered a number of different things from The Taco Spot. We ordered online and had an issue with Chow Chow and our final order, so we called in to finalize it. The girl who answered the phone was super nice, and promised to rush our order. Our rush time came and went, as did our original estimated wait time. After everything was said and done, our food showed up just after the hour and a half mark. I had the fish quesadilla, and it was ok but I think it would have been better with the sauce actually IN the dish, instead of being used as a dipping sauce. Without that, it was just kind of bland. Overall, the whole experience was just«meh»…neither here nor there, nothing to write home about. Also certainly not worth an almost 2 hour wait.

On two different occasions I have ordered food to go. Both times staff was friendly, but both times the food was not good. Between the two experiences we had beef tacos, fish tacos, black and bleu steak tacos and chips and salsa. All were bland… like, nothing had any flavor. I don’t mind paying for quality or quantity, but on both occasions we received neither. I am from Charleston, so maybe I’m a little spoiled… it’s a foodie town. I cant figure out how this place stays open. It sucks b/c the location is soooo convenient. This was about six months ago. I see a lot of mixed reviews. After the first time, I thought maybe an off day. Second time I was convinced the food just wasn’t good. I will probably give it one more shot… again, super convenient for me. Right in this immediate area though, there are a lot of better options.

This is a great place to go as long as you are not expecting REAL Mexican food. This is more like a way better Chipotle, with better and diverse meat options. I went here randomly and I am only giving it 3 stars because its hard to compare any place to California Mexican food.

I wish this place was a little better because of its convenient location! I usually order the same thing when I go here hoping it will be a little better this time. I get the spicy ginger wrap. Thank god for that chow chow because if that was not on it, this wrap would be super bland. My boyfriend tends to be a bit picky(which I know is a total pain sometimes) but usually just orders a plain taco with meat and lettuce and that’s it which usually is not too difficult. Every time we go there, they mess up the order and add a bunch of stuff he doesn’t like even though we specified that he just wanted it plain. The employees are very nice and forgiving but the final straw was when I went here to pick up a pick up order and they gave me someone else’s and I only realized it until after I got to my final destination.

West Ashley location was way better. We showed up, waited probably 40 minutes for two breakfast burritos that consisted of soggy potatoes, eggs, and a little bit of Pace salsa. Paid a dollar extra for bacon, too… half a strip. Granted, I have not gotten anything else from this location yet but I have from the W. Ashley location which tasted way fresher.

Enjoyed the setting. quirky location. Found staff to be patient and nice. Unfortunately, my burrito experience was dull. Rice had no flavor. Black beans had no flavor. Even the salsa had no flavor. It’s okay to use a little salt guys. Not all was tasteless, the guacamole definelty saved the day.

I order takeout/delivery from here from time to time. For the price I guess it’s ok. And I really want to like this place… but the quesadilla I just got from there tonight was so. sad. It was soggy and practically fell apart and seemed like it had been cooked in the microwave… something I would’ve made for myself if I was hammered but not if I’m paying for someone else to make it. Anyway it was pretty clear the tortilla had never even touched a flat top or a grill. The flavor was ok. My blackened fish had the consistency of mush. The guacamole was so damn salty I couldn’t even eat it. I hate leaving bad reviews but c’mon man.

The ground beef hard taco was amazing. I wish I had ordered two. The shell was substantial, with good crunch, a little flaky. The fish taco with cilantro on a soft shell was so-so. Needed more flavor. Cheerwine and diet cheerwine cans were available! Picnic tables out back are rustic. Overall, cute place.

UPDATE: The owner is making accusations that«He talked to my boss and everyone said the meal was great, and refused a refund» That’s completely false, I have checked with everyone and that never happened. We all hated our meals. He sent me a facebook message that I was unable to reply to because of his privacy settings. I passed the message along to a mutual friend to give him. Obviously it was never passed along. I basically told him that the food was so bad for everyone that we did not feel it was just a bad one time thing, and had no desire to try their food again. I stand by my review and take offense to you making up stories about personally speaking to my boss and talking to «my office» As you can check by your credit card statements, we have never done any more business with you and will never.

Mediocre burritos(tried the marinated chicken and blackened steak). Guac was fresh and chips pretty good. Reasonably priced. Nothing to shout about but ok for a quick fix.

Found this little gem when I was looking for my car one day #newbieinCharleston. And I can’t get over how good their fish taco was! I had a grouper fish taco with some homemade cilantro soy sauce aioli on it. I’m pretty sure I had soy sauce all over me as I walked and ate at the same time(don’t do that) but did I care? Not really. I was munching on the best fish taco I’ve ever had in my life, and looking for my car, life seemed almost perfect at that moment. The Taco Spot has been my to-go’s for tacos ever since.

Due to a football injury, I had to do delivery and fortunately, Taco Spot was nearby. On a positive note, the food arrived 32 minutes early which means it only took about 13 minutes to prepare and delivery. It appeared that way. The fish was in a separate ramekin and did not even appear seasoned. The taco salad was thrown tomatoes and greens with some chips thrown on top. I was very disappointed with the appearance and the ingredients. The Mac and Cheese was ok and helped numb the pain but overall, it was not a great experience.

Simple yet good food. I would not recommend any of the taco salads as they lack any real creativity. Iceberg lettuce, shredded cheese and a couple ounces of meat. Burritos and tacos are average but a great fix when hungry.

The fish tacos are the best American style tacos(lettuce and cheese, not cilantro and onions) I’ve EVER had. Seriously. It’s a tiny spot, in a good street off of upper king. No seats, all carry out, so call ahead(though tacos are fast). They even have a «happy hour» where you can get tacos for 2 bucks, and burritos for $ 4, which is insane. Will be coming here often.

This is just a great overall little burrito place. My girlfriend and I always go there on Thursday for their burrito special(which is a great deal by the way). I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a burrito fix. They are fast, efficient, and friendly too. I am sure their tacos and quesadillas are good too.
