There are many many things to be said about Walmart. It is the only major department store on Folly Road so it has a competitive advantage. There is plenty of parking though people don’t always know how to park or walk well. There is a Red Box. Bonus. Layout is nice. It is spacious. Food to the right, lingerie to the left. Wine in the back, guns all the way on the other end and electronics in between. The staff is generally helpful. Not always wanting to be bothered, but generally helpful. The selection is always good. Sometimes certain foods will run low. The produce is fresh as well as the breads. I do think they have excellent self check out machines. Sensitive and fast.

Well, as usual, I ran in here needing a few specific things and came out with much more. They were restocking, but the pallets were surprisingly out of the way. There were a few of the workers who took the time to ask if I needed help finding anything or how I was doing. This was a different experience from the one I usually get, and I wonder if these were temps helping out with the inventory. The regular staff are not usually as friendly. There were about five employees hanging out back by the dressing rooms chatting about who knows what and being sorta loud. My checkout experience was better than usual. I had an overflowing buggy with a menagerie of items so I’m sure she wanted to run when she saw me! Instead, she asked if I needed another buggy to get everything out, and was pleasantly accommodating. This store seems to be making some positive strides and I hope it continues.

If I could score this Walmart 0 star I would, I stopped by to buy a bike and do my weekly grocery, I started with finding the bike I wanted, no staff visible to assist, I had to go to the cashiers area to ask for help, they called for help… 10 min nobody shows up, finally found an associate next to the bike area, I told her I’m still waiting, she called for help again(we are talking about waiting 20 min), somebody showed up and guess what, don’t have a clue how to get the bikes off top racks. I told him to stop before somebody get hurt. I just gave up. I was leaving and I asked to speak with a manager… they called him, he walked right by me(even the associate who called him tried to get his attention), If this Walmart don’t need my $ 300 – 350, that’s fine.

You know… it’s a Wal-Mart. As far as Wal-Marts go, this one’s a nice one. It’s usually not too crowded and has a decent selection in all departments. They added the grocery section a few years back, which is nice. This is the best place to get frozen items at the best price(e.g. Healthy Choices, Lean Cuisines, frozen pizzas). Their bakery also has some cool items, and they have a big produce section. I’m still a little skeptical of their meat section… I usually stick to a traditional grocery store for that. They have lots of aisles, but usually only three open(in typical Wally World fashion), but they do have the choose-your-own-adventure self-checkout machines, which may make your visit a little quicker. All in all, it’s a nice-to-have on James Island for those odds and ends you need from time-to-time.

Hey it’s at Walmart it’s obviously not like a four star store or anything like that in the grand scheme of things but as far as Walmarts go this place is pretty well staffed and the people are always pretty nice here and it’s got an okay selection of everything for a smaller Walmart

My go to place for shopping for groceries, yes I like Publixs but the prices of their meat is amazing! Hard to beat. The staff has always been nice to me and I recognize some of the bakery folks who used to work for Piggly Wiggly. Their prices on cereals, and caned goods are great as well. They have a really nice deli fried chicken is great! Glad we have this store on James Island.

Tons of registers for people to sell you garbage from China. One person working to sell you said garbage. This will be awful and take way too long.

This is where I do most of my shopping on the island! I usually grab a Walmart supreme pizza while I get my usual stuff. They also have a plant section and outdoor seasonal furniture. And it’s walmart so «always low prices»

I love the new and improved Walmart my review is a newer review so the people judging it saying its not a super walmart it now is. They added on making it now a super walmart with a big grocery section and many more departments. My only complaint would be that it isn’t 24 hours I don’t understand why it isn’t. Line waits are never long employee are always waiting for you in front of their line if they aren’t serving anyone very good for people in a rush trying to get in and out. They alway added on the 10 items are less side to the store so you can tell the walmart is improving from what they use to be. I have no complaints I love shopping here. I suggest it to anyone and everyone

This WalMart is no super WalMart; if anything it is a medium sized WalMart. They carry a very limited selection of items; their grocery department has an awful selection of produce and what they have isn’t the freshest of produce, they run out of bottled water all the time, their meat and bakery departments are limited, they have a very small sporting goods and automotive department, and their electronics department does not carry the latest music and movie releases. So if anything, this is just a WalMart and not super at all. Even though the selections here are limited that isn’t my biggest complaints. My 2 biggest complaints with this WalMart location are: 1. They never pick up the buggies in the parking lot, I constantly find myself dodging buggies when driving through the parking lot or not being able to park in a parking space since it is filled with buggies. They need to be more proactive about sending stockers out to pick them up and bring them in. 2. They have a long line of cash registers, but only 1 to 3 are ever open creating lines of people waiting to check out. If they can’t hire more cashiers, they could at least get four self checkouts to make the process of getting out of the store a little easier. With all that said, there is one shining light with this WalMart and that is the employees here. They work hard and they treat the customers right. They are always happy to help you find what you are looking for; I’ve even had them ask if I needed help before I had a chance to ask them.

Perfect spot for a Wal-Mart! I stop here every time I’m headed to Folly Beach. I can pick up all my last minute beach stuff at a great price and not pay the beach store extravagancies.

One of the few«old skool» Wally Worlds left. Plus they sell cheesey shot glasses and trinkets with James Island written on them, making you think it’s some sort of beach resort town. If you’ve ever been to JI, you would know that it’s far from that. The only beach we have on JI is Mosquito Beach, and if you don’t live there, you have no business going there. Trust me.

This location is organized like any other Walmart. The only thing that was weird about this place is that no one’s cell phone seems to work from the inside. What’s up with that? What if there was some kind of hostage situation held here?.. then what?
