Yeager Airport is West Virginia’s Gateway to the World. CRW Is served by American, Delta, United, US Airways and Spirit and has nonstop flights to Atlanta, Charlotte, Chicago, Dallas, Detroit, Houston, Myrtle Beach, Philadelphia, and Washington D.C. (Reagan and Dulles).

We offer over 40 peak day flight options, convenient parking and rental car facilities connected to the terminal, and fast & friendly security checkpoints. CRW is just a 5 minute drive from downtown Charleston and the intersection of 3 major interstates and is less than an hour drive from skiing, world-​class rafting, and all of the great outdoor adventure West Virginia has to offer.

History

Established in 1947.

Opened on December 1, 1947 (then as Kanawha Airport), Yeager Airport has been West Virginia’s Gateway to the world for over 60 years.

The absolute worst airport ever! I’ve been to this airport 6 times and every single time there’s an issue! Fly into Huntington or rent a car! You’ll save yourself a lot of frustration, trust me!

Tacoma, WA
Very small airport that usually doesn’t get that busy. Security seems to have more of a presence when flights arrive. They seem a bit more lax for departing flights. There is even free parking across from the terminal. I’ve usually seen these at small airports like this and noticed that it reduces the stress and urgency associated with traveling.
Commuter planes typically fly in and out of this airport from larger cities. There’s a Tudor’s Biscuit, 2 bars, and a gift shop.

Avon, MA
Tiny little airport on a hill in WV. They only have a couple of gates. There is one little diner and one little gift shop that sells drinks and snacks. I was impressed that such a small airport had a TSA pre-​check lane. The rental car facilities are also onsite which is very convenient. Overall a nice little airport.

Small airport with very personable service and nice amenities, all things considered. It is very easy to arrive 30 min. before a flight and have zero issues.
The bar on the non security side is nice for a drink and some local food while you wait. No healthy options to speak of.

Don’t fly United and if I was an airport I wouldn’t let United fly out or into my airport because they would create these bad reviews they are getting now!!!

Old, kinda dingy looking, and small but i guess that makes finding your way around more convenient. Very respectful and friendly personnel, the ones that usually make or break my visits to the airport, but everyone has been friendly so I’m happy. Oh, and free wifi :)

Grapevine, TX
It’s small, which makes it super easy to get in and out quickly. I love that I don’t have to get there super early before the flight.
It has a gift shop and a café past the security check point and a Tudors Biscuit World and Gino’s just outside the check point. There are also some vending machines available downstairs for snacks.
The place always seems clean and safe. It also has some pretty incredible views flying in and out!

Today as I said goodbye to family, the workers here were rude to all of us. They yelled at us multiple times, rushed everyone, printed off wrong tickets causing a delay resulting in a missed flight. They had an attitude from the moment we walked in especially when we had to reschedule. If I plan to fly out/​in to WV, I will fly from Huntington. Charleston workers are rude rude rude.

Being a frequent traveler i like this airport. Its small and security is quick. No long lines… the draw back sometimes i have to wait at airports a long time… in this case 2 hours so a bigger variety of restaurants would be great! But overall a nice small airport!

Small airport but adequate. It’s located atop the mountain so it can be scary to drive down the pitch black mountain roads. Other than that its adequate for what it serves.

Ah the joys of tiny, regional airports. This is a very small airport which has it’s perks. Easy check in. Easy car rental process. Security is fast. You check your carry on at the gate which usually means you get it quickly whenever you arrive at your destination.
The airport has free wi-​fi but I had trouble maintaining a signal. Understandably the food options are limited because of the size of the airport.

As a frequent flyer, Yeager is a nice break from large airports. It’s small with maybe two dining options and one little shop, but why would you want to dine/​shop at an airport anyway? Yeager is a final destination kind of airport, so the hassle-​free and quick process of getting in and out is perfect.
Getting through security has never been an issue. There is rarely a line (maybe 15 mins max) at security, and the staff are quick and courteous. No constant berating and bullying to check in your bag for a front pocket that sticks out a bit from heavy use (looking at you, JFK).
So if your destination is somewhere in WV, this airport is convenient to almost any regional location and above all stress-​free. Cheers.

Simple. Easy. Few options to make the most of or to be overwhelmed by. I typically take early or late flights and it’s pretty empty at those times, not sure about usual business hours activities.

Tiny airport. Easy to get through security since there are very few people here.
Not many options for food and the cabs were intermittent.

Delays. No maintenance on site apparently to fix aircraft.
United airlines is pathetically bad.
Yeager doesn’t help by doing business with united.
Outdated airport and inefficient.

As airports go, this one is a bit out of the way however it’s small it’s quaint and the staff are lovely.
There’s a few shops available if you wanted to purchase something, but I found a good corner with a plug to charge my phone and curl up on the chair with my book.
It’s got a few floors, it also has 20 minute free parking if you are dropping off or picking up someone.

Charlotte, NC
I’m thinking this is the second smallest US airport that I’ve experienced, after Lynchburg VA. There are three «terminals» but it’s a bit laughable. But with that said, there’s nothing wrong with small airports if they have decent aircraft servicing them and on that note, Yeager currently has one Airbus 319 that comes in at 10:00 PM from Atlanta, stays the night, and is then the morning departure. The rest of the flights are regional jets or the US Airways turboprop to Charlotte.
Free wifi in the terminals is awesome and there are a few power outlets to be found. And they now have TSA Pre-​Check. What’s not to love?
