They did a great job. Called before arrival, showed up on time and removed several pieces of very heavy furniture quickly. I wouldn’t hesitate to use the service again.

After explaining the importance of our junk removal prior to home closure, got junk showed up with an inadequately sized truck, that was already half filled. Although the two crew members were professional, they were unable to facilitate the removal. This all occurred at 5:30pm, leaving us stuck. After this unfortunate occurrence we were force to hire another company and pay them time and a half to get the job done. VERY disappointed, did I mention that we confirmed our removal needs, twice?

I was a little nervous reading some of these reviews, but my experience with 1−800-got-junk could not have been any better. I booked our appointment online, I did not get an estimate, but I glanced through price estimator and guessed that it would cost me about $ 350 have a full sized 1970’s sleeper sofa and matching love-​seat removed. Hassan and James called me about half an hour before my time slot to let me know that they were 30 – 45 minutes away. They showed up right on time and 25 minutes later, my living room was empty! Despite having to drag the sleeper sofa down three flights of stairs, they even joked that we were probably the easiest job they would have all day! They were both very pleasant and we even learned that saran wrap is the new duct tape! Best of all, our total came to $ 218 (you get $ 10 off for booking online) and I was told the price before any work had begun. I would definitely use them again and recommend them to friends!

I’ve had the Boston crew come to our house a couple of times for large clean out jobs. They work efficiently and are very pleasant. They lifted some heavy, bulky items up a steep staircase with no difficulty. I can’t imagine anyone doing a better job!

AVOID! These guys cancelled on me at the last minute, without warning, claiming that their truck was full and the dump was closed. That may have been true, but it’s their job to get to me within the scheduled window, and with a truck that isn’t already full. Really, if you think about it, THAT’S THEIR ONLY JOB! Fortunately I found somebody local and trustworthy to pick up the job. I would never call these guys again. They truly don’t care about their customers, and were rude and unhelpful on the phone. Do yourself a favor and hire somebody local.

Made a 230p-​430p appt and requested a ¾ truck as I had a lot of stuff and I even listed it out all the bulky items to be picked up in the request.
Team didnt show up until 530p, and their truck was nearly full already when they arrived. They charged me for half a truck, which is ridiculous as the truck was already ¾ full upon arrival and at best they took ¹⁄₃ of the items. They said they’d have to come back another time at it would be another ¾ truck charge.
I am tempted to give 2 stars instead of 1 as at least they were quick and courteous in taking what they did take… however after being late, not finishing the job, and charging $ 500 for a ¼ full truck, sticking with one star rating
UPDATE: I was promptly contacted by both HQ and the local manager after posting this review. I explained everything and they were eager to find a resolution to my first bad experience. Team came back the next day and did a great job finishing the work, and we worked out an agreeable financial settlement that made the total price worth hiring them. Local manager also followed up after they left to make sure I was completely satisfied.
Updating to 3 stars as the end result was positive. In the future, will make sure to document before/​after to ensure a fair price for the volume of junk taken.

I’ve been holding off on writing this review. But I figured it’s about time to so now since this company is obviously full of crap. I had moved out of my apartment prior to my lease ending and my wife and I decided to upgrade our furniture. Due to not having a truck and time constraints, we couldn’t donate the furniture so we called 1 – 800 Got Junk. I scheduled an appointment for noon on a Saturday. The appointment was verified on the Friday before and then again I got a call from a Sales rep Saturday morning around 1130 as I was making my 40 minute trek back to my old place. I was told that my crew would be showing up between 12 – 2.
At 2:15 I called them back and said that the drivers weren’t there yet. They misunderstood and said that they had only said that the crew would show up between 12 – 2 and not that the job would be done during this time period. I then had to explain that the drivers have just not shown up. I was then put on hold and they tracked down the drivers and said that I’d get a call within 5 minutes. A half hour later, still no call. So I called back, explained what was going on again and the fact they were 45 minutes late and then this time the driver calls me. The driver tells me that he’s in Brookline and will be there in 5 minutes. I was actually in Saugus so I knew he was full of it.
Finally at 4pm (2 hours late) the crew shows up to take my two couches away. I’ll give them credit, they were professional and sincere about their tardiness but I had missed a couple of group meetings for school so I wasn’t too impressed. I called up the head office and made a complaint. I found out that the crew that came to take away the couches were supposed to have given me $ 65 off of my bill dropping it to $ 100. They told me that they’d send me a check for the amount and that I should receive it within 1 – 2 weeks.
As of right now it’s been about two months. I gave them the benefit of the doubt that it got pushed back at the office and took extra time to come out, I called them and spoke to a sales rep and she talked to the head of the Boston office and said that the woman would call me in the next ten minutes. I never got a call and I never got the check. The company was terrible. The service was terrible and if anyone is looking to get stuff removed from their place, I’d use them as a last available option. I personally wouldn’t use them again.

I have used 1−800-GOT-JUNK three times. Quick service and pick up. Went on line and two hours latter trash was gone. Uniform crews were polite, worked at a fast pace. Removed trash from basement though a narrow staircase and narrow store. Trash removed included construction material, glass, heavy display, wood and metal.

I ordered a mattress from Tuft & Needie via Amazon. It smelled like mildew from the day it arrived and when I wrote to T&N to complain about it they told me that wasn’t normal and offered to replace the mattress. They said they would contact a «recycling service called GotJunk «to pick up my supposedly defective mattress. I was told they would call me around 1:30pm and arrive between 2−3pm today.
Due to a late night I slept until 1pm. My phone ringer was off. When I woke up I had 10 missed calls and 2 voicemails starting at 12:38pm apparently all from 1−800-GOT-JUNK?. When I called back, the driver gave me a hard time saying that I was a hard person to reach because they had 3 phone numbers for me. I told him I had no idea why that was because I had only the one number. I also explained that since I was told they wouldn’t call me until 1:30 or arrive until 2 I had been asleep. He said they were running early. Ordinarily it’s great when a company shows up before the window they give you but I didn’t appreciate being given a hard time for the fact that they couldn’t reach me when I was told I didn’t need to be reachable until around 1:30 and also for the fact that they had 3 phone numbers listed for me which I have no idea why they would. I assume if one of those numbers were for T&N they would have answered the call so I don’t know who the other 2 numbers belong to. When I met them at the back door I was told that one of the numbers was for the main office in my building but we don’t have an office!
After showing them upstairs to my unit I pointed to the mattress which they had no idea they were there to pick up. They asked if that was the only thing going and what else they should take (nothing) and I asked them if they knew what they were there to pick up and they said no. They were shocked the mattress was new and I explained that T&N had told me it was defective so that’s why they were there. Meanwhile one of the guys was fiddling with his clipboard and paperwork and he proceeded to tell me how much the pick up would cost (I believe he said $ 80) while showing me a beat up laminated price sheet that looked legit. T&N had made no mention that I would be responsible for the cost of the pick up and it made no sense since the mattress was being picked up because T&N told me it was defective. I told them the company had not told me I would be responsible for paying and as I was walking off to get my phone to call T&N and complain they started laughing and said they were just joking. I told them it was not funny and they gave me a hard time about not having a sense of humor.
I admit that if I’d had more sleep maybe I would have just let it slide but it made me wonder if a naïve customer were to actually pay them would they have just pocketed the cash? I called T&N right away to complain. They claimed it was the first time they’d heard a story like that. Presumably they use 1−800-GOT-JUNK? in multiple cities so maybe it was just this one guy.
I also didn’t receive a copy of the paperwork I signed (there was a carbon copy). I was told that I wasn’t entitled to it because I wasn’t the one who paid. I wasn’t sure if that was correct but when I called T&N they didn’t say that I needed it. It hadn’t occurred to me I should have asked to take a picture of it.
Bottomline: very unimpressed by their lack of organization (my guess is that perhaps they’ve done other pick ups in my building and that’s why there were other numbers) and lack of professionalism. They’re providing a service and should not be giving me a hard time or falsely telling me that I owe them money. I do realize that some of the organization issues could be due to the fact that the advance communication about the pick up came through T&N and not from 1−800-GOT-JUNK? directly but there was no excuse for being unprofessional. Based on this experience I couldn’t recommend 1−800-GOT-JUNK? to anyone. (Note: 1−800-GOT-JUNK? runs on a franchise model and based on the overall reviews I mistakenly assumed that my pick up had been handled by the North Shore franchise but I called the company and found out it was handled by the Central franchise. The rep at the 800 number gave me a direct number to call when I asked if there was a supervisor for Central that I could speak to but it seems to be just a voicemail box and the only option was to leave a message, not speak to a live person.)

I am sitting here at 8:14 pm, waiting for the truck I scheduled for a 5 – 7 pm pick up. Got a call at 4:50 telling me they would be here between 6 – 6:30. At 6:28 I got a call from a different person telling me they were running behind and would be over in 30 – 35 minutes «depending on traffic.» At 8:05 I called the number they called from and got no answer. Called back a minute later and the guy answers the phone with a «Hello?» I ask him if they are still planning on coming over, and he says «We’re backed up, I don’t know when we’ll be there.» I said «If you’re not here in 30 minutes, don’t bother.» At this point, even if they do show up, haul everything away, and GIVE ME $ 100 bucks, they’re getting a one-​star review for lousy communication and customer service.
8:35, no show. I now need to re-​schedule my whole week around this screw-​up. Absolutely the worst customer service experience I’ve ever had.

For the convenience, 1−800-Got-Junk is totally worth it. You make an appointment online, picking a day and a 2hr window that works for you. They call before they show up. !!Show up within the allotted window! Give you a quote, based on how full the truck gets. Literally 20 – 25 minutes of quick and efficient hauling and they even swept up after they were done!
We had a little more than half a truck’s worth of crap to get rid of, including a dryer and the total was gonna be about $ 530. One of the guys asked if we had AAA and when we showed him the card, he gave us an instant $ 50 discount! I was pleasantly surprised by his honesty.
It’s true, for the price I could have rented a dumpster for a week and gone through and hauled the crap out myself — but the immediate gratification of having a clean basement was well worth the price!

My wife and I had to move suddenly and unexpectedly, and had three years worth of accumulated junk in our apartment, including furniture, appliances, and an attic crammed to the brim with assorted odds and ends. It ended up being a truck load (and a VERY full truck load at that). Lloyd and Carlos worked hard and fast, and were very professional and friendly the entire time. Not only did they clear out the entire apartment, they took the time to sweep the floors afterwards. I attempted to help on a few occasions, but they told me to relax and let them handle everything. Really great guys. My wife and I were impressed.
The pricing was very reasonable, considering the quality and quantity of the service we received. Bear in mind, there’s a $ 130ish minimum for every job. So if you’re looking to have a single item hauled, or a small amount of junk, 1−800-GOT-JUNK may not be the best choice for you. The more you have, the better the value. However, if, like me, you’ve got a house full of junk, need it gone, and need it gone FAST, I cannot recommend these guys enough.

I used this company today and am extremely happy with my experience. While setting up the appointment, they gave me a very clear idea of their pricing based on square footage. They gave me an unexpectedly tight time window in which to expect them – 3pm-​5pm. I was expecting to have to block off half of my day to wait around for them, but that wasn’t the case at all! My husband piled what we wanted to get rid of at the end of our driveway (although they will go through your house/​basement/​etc. with you for no extra charge, I believe). At 2pm, I got a call telling me to expect them around 4pm. At 3:45pm, the driver called me on the road to tell me that they’d be here in 25 – 30 minutes.
Chris and Jimmy were very professional. They gave me a quote based on evaluating my pile. They were done loading the truck in 15 minutes. They even swept the area of the driveway the pile had been sitting on.
I would absolutely recommend this company!

I REALLY should have read the Unilocal reviews first. (1) «we’ll be there at 100 pm» (showed up at 5pm!), (2) but them had to empty truck.“be back in half an hour”, (3) left at 10:30 with job partly done «we’ll be back tomorrow; but you have to pay us first,» paid them, (4) didn’t come back, «no room on schedule,» (scheduled for next day at 1200, showed up at 3, (5) at one point were throwing items out of window! («easier than stairs»), (6) charge by degree to which truck is filled, insisted it was ¾ full, NO not really guys! It was half full … and btw, was the truck empty when you got here? You get the point. Rent a truck and hire two college kids; save 75%!

Better than expected! Arrived early which was great and they did call, both guys went right to work, nonstop and cleaned out all I requested filling the truck. They really were fantastic workers. Ill be using them again… only problem was they do not tear up carpet as it said on the website but they did call to advise me of that, the website is made in Canada at there corporate office but in MA they do not rip it out.

My parents and I have used this company over 5x to haul away truck-​loads of stuff from my grandparents’ house. They always come with two guys, and they move efficiently and quickly. We have come to like Jimmy and Melvin in particular, though all the guys are great.
The price is very competitive, too. I only wish the company provided their guys with more protective gear (gloves, goggles).

There is a star because I had to give it one. We where packing up our folks house and hired them because they «donate» the stuff they pick up.
They came late, did not have any tools with them, carried light items down from the 3^rd floor two at a time, told us that after one and a half hours that it would be $ 100/​per person/​hour. Didn’t see that one listed anywhere on the website. And we hired them for a full truck load.
We stated that we had large appliances, they did not come prepared to move a full size stove or large ice chest, that we had mentioned multiple times. We ended up asking the movers to help (yes we tipped the movers extra) get the ice chest to their truck. Then they spent an additional 30 minutes trying to break the door off the chest, trying to get it up onto the truck, and finally figuring out they had a dolly (attached by bungee chords to the undercarriage) that they could use. and it goes on. Incompetency at it finest! Oh, we where told they are not movers. Hence, the reason that they went and «borrowed» the mover’s dollies, and we had to get our movers to help them!
The truck was ¾ full and they pulled the cover over as we told them only for 1 & ½ hours. They came in with their paperwork for signature and payment.
After writing an email of compliant, the reply was, «Someone will be back to you within 24 business hours» that doesn’t work when you need to be out with 18 hours.
Next morning we received a call that they where on their way to complete the job. «Same crew?» «Yes, why?» our reply, thank you but no thank you, we do not want you anywhere near this property.
Did I say incompetent? Never again! Our moving company was appalled, the real estate broker was appalled, family members who live in the area, and none of them will be referring them to anyone. But the Icing on the cake? The email to ask if we where Wow’ed by them… Yes we where, Wow’ed by their incompetence, piss poor customer service, and lack of information up front. I would say to only use them to haul garbage, they can’t do much more.

The first three times I used 1−800-got-junk they were pretty good. However their scheduler in Boston seems to be a bit unreliable. The first time I had a 5 PM appointment, the drivers called me at 1:30 PM and said they wanted to come by right then. When I said I couldn’t make it over immediately, they said they’d be back at the appointment time and showed up 2 hours late (7pm). This most recent attempt to use them was the worst though. I was supposed to have them out to my house between 5−7pm. At 5:40 I got a call stating the truck would arrive between 6:30 and 7:00. I told them I was ready and waiting. At 7:20 I was still waiting. I called and was told they had spoken to me and I had told them the junk was already gone. No truck for me. While they have offered to give me a 10% discount, they can’t make it in time for me to make it to the appointment to sell my house, and they will likely cost me over $ 1000 in fees to delay the property closing.
All in all their corporate customer service seems to want to be helpful but is stuck relying on the local managers. Since the Boston manager completely made up the story about calling me and my telling them the junk was already removed, I think they’ve got some issues to deal with.
I’ll be happy to take my business to one of the other local providers.

I am a queen of deferred housekeeping. After all, why else do closets have doors if not to hide the clutter? I can offer a weak defense and say I live on the 4^th floor of a walk-​up so that is a pretty good excuse for not keeping up, right? The thing is, I have been in this castle for over 20 years and things got out of hand. (Out of both hands, truthfully.)
My prince charming is 1−800-GotJunk. Their website is easy to navigate and makes for efficient service reservations. Every employee I have met so far has been professional, polite, cheerful and endowed with a strong back. They offer a two hour window for appointments, and call a half hour or so before arrival. If they are going to be late (rare, very rare) they phone way ahead of time. In short, they are a punctual and extremely customer friendly operation.
I highly recommend this company. They recycle and are «green friendly» (is that a term? you know what I mean), and in my own checking around have found them to be the most reasonably priced service.
