Few things turn me off more than a dining room full of flies.. two employees standing around doing nothing. I have a thought. … Kill some flies! ! Coffee want bad, quick and priced OK.. But get rid is those disease down flies!

Great location, desserts looked amazing. My parents loved the chicken salad roll up. My turkey club was tasty. I like aioli but wish I had ordered it on the side because I was slightly too much. My son’s $ 7.50 grilled cheese however was just not that great. It seams that using a panini press somehow dried the cheddar filled sandwich out and possibly some butter would have been an easy fix for flavor. Staff was not that friendly for a tourist town in tourist season and despite there being plenty of workers, they just yell from behind the counter that the order is ready vs. bring it to the table. Just ok.

Ordered 3 sandwiches. Two were on their menu board. Asked for plain turkey with honey mustard. The cashier looked at me with a confused expression. She explained they could not make one. So stuck with 2 sandwiches. Food was good but they cannot think out of the box.

It was impossible to find a decent bagel in Charlevoix before Johan’s opened up. Great bagel sandwiches, donuts, and iced coffee.

Got a Latte. It was 11 oz of hot milk and 1 oz of espresso. I’m sure their coffee and food is fine, but anything beyond a basic coffee appears completely beyond them. Don’t bother.

My family and I stayed in Charlevoix for the weekend and found that the selection of restaurants in the downtown area was limited to a faux, pan-Asian restaurant and a handful of American restaurants with very little variety. Johan’s was the place we kept coming back to for a solid selection of sandwiches. We highly recommend their A-BLT-C sandwich. The bread was soft yet firm enough to keep the sandwich together and the avocado is a perfect addition to an already perfect sandwich. The service was excellent and the staff was super polite; they even remembered us from the day before and wished us a safe trip back. We’ll definitely be stopping by again the next time we’re back in town :)

Johan’s Café has an assorted variety of bakery goods including bagels, donuts, danishes and several beverages(hot and cold) to compliment them. Located in downtown Charlevoix, the place is clean & cute and you can see Round Lake from the window as you sip-a-latte. When we stopped in on a Sunday morning, a dry-erase board gave us 3 options for bagel sandwiches. All looked yummy and we tried 2 out of the 3; the cream cheese, capers, locks, onion and tomato bagel followed by the bacon, tomato, avocado, onion and cream cheese bagel. As the customer, you get to choose your own ‘flavor’ of bagel which is toasted and all the toppings are left on the side for you to arrange yourself. Even the cream cheese comes in a separate container so you can spread only what you like. I prefer this option. Everything was fresh and tasted great! As for the coffee lovers out there, all you dark roast fans are in luck! I was told by the worker that the café ‘didn’t believe in light roast coffee’ so, the options were medium and dark roast. Hahaha! We’ll be back if we happen to be in town but I’ll have to look elsewhere if I want a light roast ;D

As a regular customer this summer for food and coffee while visiting the marina …, 2 of last 4 hazelnut lattes this week had no syrup. I would Ck your measures. Food is good, but a certain attitude prevails, customer is not right here nor appreciated. maybe it was a long summer.

Went for a quick breakfast and coffee. The service was horrible, lady at the register was not interested in taking my order and forgot to give me half of my order. When I let her know she was missing stuff in my order she was extremely rude and did not once apologize. The breakfast sandwiches are good, but the coffee was really bad(had to dump it out, it was so bad). Definitely would not recommend this place to anyone.

Stopped here to get sandwiches. The turkey club was really good, added avocado to it. I also got mine grilled. The strawberry shake was also good but very sweet. The service was okay. Nice little place, tables inside and a couple outside too.

We’ve been going here for a quick meal for the past two summers. We love their sandwiches. We’re particularly fond of their chicken salad wrap and Tina salad wrap. As for cleanliness, we have had to resort to wiping our own table on several occasions.

We were in the mood for some sandwiches. We had the dog with us, so we found a table on the sidewalk in the afternoon shade. I went inside to order. Johan’s Café is a small place, not fancy, but it seemed clean. There are about eight tables indoors, including two in the windows. I was going to get us a couple of panini, but I decided a regular sandwich would be faster. It seemed to take longer than I thought it would with so many people working behind the counter, but then, the place was busy. The sandwiches came packaged in a clear plastic clamshell with chips. I was not given any napkins, which I didn’t notice until *after* I sat down. Fortunately, we didn’t need them. I had made a good choice. The bread was very good! Springy and flavorful. Made me want to bring home a loaf just for toasting. There were some unsliced loaves on a shelf near the register. I had the Italiano sandwich, which had lettuce, cheese, salami, ham and I think it was beef. The vinaigrette dressing was great. Hubby’s sandwich was the roast beef, which he said was very good. The lemonade came from bottles in the cooler. The sandwiches were $ 8.50 each, which was a bit steep, but hey — it’s downtown Charlevoix, so everything is pricier. The clamshells said they were compostable, but there was no place to compost them, otherwise we would have happily complied.

Two star is only because they serve espresso. The coffee is terrible and watered down

Johan’s succeeds Sadie & Jake’s at this location, providing the same general stuff — namely coffee, baked goods & sandwiches. The interior is graced with a high, old-fashioned tin ceiling but is otherwise pretty sparely adorned, with a bit of an ad hoc feel to it. My latte was good, though, and the kids seemed happy with their hot chocolate and smoothie. I’ll report further after I’ve sampled the food.
