Love the new space! My experience at 8 was even better in their new spacious, light filled location. All the same great service and vibe, just more of it! It’s just across from Cowfish Taco.

I’ve been looking for a new stylist in Charlotte for awhile now and went to Erin this week. I loved my haircut and the salon was so inviting and relaxing. I have been to many stylists in Charlotte and Erin at 8 is definitely one of the best I’ve been to! She is so friendly and had a great understanding of what I wanted. I left very happy!

I used to go to a certain stylist because I felt obligated to and was afraid to change, which for me and my industry is a death sentence. Working with Duane changed my life… He understands my industry and my need to stay trendy yet have an easy look and something that I can manage on the go. He took the time to teach me how to style my hair and keep it looking good and also, taught me the softer side of my face and what to accentuate. He is also pleasant to speak to, does a thorough and complete job, and takes a traditional cut and tweaks it to make it stand out and make a statement. I would suggest 8 — The Salon to anyone that is looking for a change and for anyone that is in need a look that is what someone needs… not wants. From sassy to traditional, their staff is professional and qualified to make your cut and color to be something that is fitting and that you can be proud of. Another example… For years, I died my hair dark brown well, because, it was in my head that it looked good. My prior colorist went with it and her suggestion was to just to add in highlights light blond highlights. Ewww. The staff at 8 — The Salon suggested I go lighter which would warm up my skin tone and make my hair cut pop and that it did! I couldn’t be anymore please with 8 — The Salon and they have a long-time client in the works with me!

I’ve come in a couple of times now and have 100% loved every experience. From a friendly greeting at reception to perfect subtle color, there’s a reason I make a girls’ weekend for a haircut all the way from Durham! And of course, my haircut from Rodger was excellent — I cut nearly 6 inches off and haven’t gone a day without compliments since my cut and style last week! Definitely coming back.

After going to the same stylist at 8 since it opened(I actually followed her to 8 from another salon) I will not be going back. I broke my back 2 weeks before my appointment. I called to let them know I would not be able to sit in the chair to have my hair washed and I would wash it at home. Wearing my back brace I walked in and put on a smock. I could not reach the ties in the back so asked the owner(who has never spoken or acknowledged me in all the years I have been a client in his salon) to help me reach the ties. He never said a word, handed me the tie and kept right on walking. When my stylist arrived it was obvious no one had shared with her that I broke my back and would not be having my hair washed there. She cut my hair. When it was time to checkout I asked how much I owed since I was unable to have it washed. My stylist didn’t know and left me with the receptionist. The receptionist didn’t know and disappeared to find out. I assumed she went to ask the owner. The receptionist returned and informed me… we do not give discounts and it takes the same amount of time either way. I was not seeking a discount. I was asking how much I was to pay for services that were provided. At that point I decided I would rather find a salon that cares more about their clients individually than making sure they receive full price even when full services are not provided. I wrote my stylist a letter letting her know why I would not be returning to 8 after being with her for 7 years. I never received a reply.

I was here yesterday for an ombré look. My hair turn out ok. I didn’t like my stylist that much… she ask too many personal questions. I can tell she was judging me. Also my hair was really damage from bleaching at the ends. At least be gentle and blow dry my hair, she didn’t even bother to put any kind of hair moisturizer before she comb it. I’m not a hair stylist but let me tell y’all, I get my hair done enough to know the steps! When you start blow drying please let it dry for at least 75% and then use the round brush! The ends was falling out and flying every where. And I know the place try to look like its high end, I have gone to places that I paid 550+ in CA. Take care of your costumers hair like it’s own your hair! Very disappointed!!! I might return for a different stylist

I have been coming to 8 the Salon since it opened because my stylist moved there. The salon itself is nice, and I love my stylist, but I am rating it lower because of the rudeness of the owners. I am in the salon very regularly, and say hi to the owners every time. They never smile or say hello. In addition, they got upset with me for putting a beverage cup on their front desk! They do not cater to the customers at all and are more concerned with the fung shwei of the salon than the comfort of their customers! I may take my business elsewhere if things do not improve. If you are looking for a friendly, customer focused salon, I suggest you go elsewhere.

I saw 8 on Charlotte Today and I called for an appointment… That was almost a year ago today! I love this salon! True talent, not a ‘texturizing chop shop’ like what I’ve experienced at other salons! Very thankful to have found them!

$ 60 for a haircut and the stylist doesn’t even listen. Then, she raised her price to $ 70 and I refuse to return. $ 60 was high — the extra money sent me over the top and my hair wasn’t even cut like I asked to cut it. I’m paying $ 20 now and my hair looks better!

Super nice, talented and experienced crew. Dwayne was wonderful and I received compliments the minute I left the salon. Hi end services without the pretense.

I have been almost all over the US and one of the hardest things to get settled into has to be the findings of a hair salon/stylist. It’s never something that you need on a consistent basis & it always seems to be the thing that«pops» up because you finally took a long enough look in the mirror while rushing thru your day. At least that’s what I think. :P I went to «8» to get a reshaping haircut after receiving a complementary cut card(first timers only). I have to admit I am probably the most laid back customer any salon will ever get. I am never fussy, I love to do the outlandish styles, and I always know hair will grow back. So when I walked in and met Dwayne it was love at first glance for him. He said it was like Christmas all over for him because I wanted a Mohawk. He was amazing! He actually talked out the ideas he had about the shape of it. We then walked over to get me into a robe and hang up my coat. He did it all with shears, no clippers, then I had a shampoo/conditioner AFTER the cut to get all of the hair off. While styling it up I realized I wanted a bit ore taken off the sides and WALLAH done! It is glorious! I have found a stylist that can cut my curly hair(even though there is very little of it)! My only qualm is the price. He’s a Senior Stylist so he’s $ 75. Which really isn’t too much of a bother if I didn’t have to get a touch up every 3−4wks. and I was there for quite a bit and was never offered any water

Went this weekend for a color with Blake, and he did a fantastic job. I travel a lot and can be at the mercy of a new city, but Blake was recommended by a friend and she was spot on. He is brilliant with color choices, so please go see him!

I went to 8 for a haircut and color. I had Dwayne Linens cut my hair, and honestly it was the BEST haircut I have ever had. This salon is a place here they ctually tell you what looks good on you and knows exactly what to do to make you look your best! I appreciate that so much bc other salons I have gone to ask me what I want, which is fine to an extent, otherwise you are the stylist and you need to tell me what looks best bc they are the experts, and that’s exactly what Dwayne is. I don’t want to get my haircut by anyone else from now on! The colorist I went to was Jason, I told him what I liked and wanted and made thr perfect color for me with my suggestion. I wouldn’t want to go to anyone else bc this salon knows hat they are doing! Granted a little pricey, but it is worth every bit of it! Loovee Salon 8!!! :-)

I have been going to Amanda Benson for a few years now and LOVE her. I followed her to Salon 8 and I am even more impressed by her new and improved techniques. She always pays attention to what I am looking for in a haircut, and is not afraid to tell me what will and will not look good on me. Amanda is so friendly, and I always look forward to my haircuts with her! I highly recommend Salon 8 –especially Amanda!!!

If I were grading on technique alone, this would be a five-star review. But getting a haircut is about so much more than technique. The shtick behind 8-the salon is that you get the best haircut for your facial structure. I knew this going in, but I didn’t realize the full extent. As we all do when we want a new hair style, I brought pictures with me of styles I liked. When I got them out, the stylist just said, «We don’t do pictures here» and went on to give me my haircut. And I’ll give her credit. The cut IS flattering. But a getting a haircut is about more than just flattering a face. It’s about finding the style that works with a woman’s face AND her life and personal style. THAT is where 8 falls short. I got a haircut that looks good, but it doesn’t look like me. The BEST stylists should be able to give a client a haircut that looks good AND reflects what they want. If you refuse to do that, I won’t return. If you’re 100% completely open to a stylist’s vision for your hair, give 8 a try. But if you want any input at all, I can’t recommend it. PS Yes, the salon name is the number 8. I have no idea why.
